Assassin's Creed "Parity": Unity is 900p/30fps on both PS4 & Xbox One

So all that Microsoft money for Call of Duty marketing and map packs couldn't save Ghosts from being 720p on XB1?

This argument that Microsoft forced parity is so illogical it's not even funny.

What is the incentive for Ubisoft to force parity then?

Why shouldn't I? If he wants to spout his pro-gamer crap all the time then I'm going to call him out for doing this shit because if its an MS deal then he was the one who did it. And yes I'm assuming this is an MS deal because thats what it seems like to me and until proven otherwise that will be my assumption.
How could they prove that there's no deal?

I'm astounded honestly.

Just let me understand this.... You want me to part with my money for a product your intentionally trying to make worse than it should be because you want parity?

Why the Fuck would anybody pay for that?

If there is GPU resources to spare and the game is CPU bound, why would they limit the resolution?

Did somebody answer this? This is the question I have, isn't Resolution solely dependent on the GPU? What does the CPU have to do with it. Ubisoft statements sound contradictory.

Yeah I mean customers voicing their frustration that Ubisoft is intentionally gimping their product and giving gamers an inferior product is surely worth being even more spiteful

Don't like me slashing your spare tire well fuck off I'm smashing out your windows too.

IF AC is going to be half assed on PS4 launch price day 1 will be half as well 30$ right? I mean it's only fair.

I don't get why Ubisoft would announce this. I wonder how many people would really care if the final product looked the same on both consoles if they didn't announce it in the worst possible way.

Haha.

What is next? Sony paying to make Xbone games look worse than they can? 720p/30fps om Xbone for game running at 1080p/60fps on the ps4?

This is such an incredible dick move. Not buying the game.

Everything involving Xbox last year was illogical.

This is the year they fight back. They dont want a resolution-gate hanging over there holiday again.

But I do think that maybe we should wait and see what happens with the other big MS co marketed games this holiday first (Dragon Age, COD)

Thanks ubisoft I was struggling on which games to buy in November, I'd preordered quite a few titles and now I've one less to worry about. Phew budget was going to be overstretched, such a relief, keep up the good work.

I just find it hilarious how important this shit is to you guys. Like, who honestly gives a fuck? Multiple people in this thread said that Ubisoft should have just kept their mouths shut - if they had, you guys wouldn't give a shit. I doubt that most of you could even tell that the game is not running at 1080p; hell, if it weren't for Digital Foundry, you wouldn't have these kinds of discussions in the first place. The fact that people get sooooo caught up with NUMBERS is insane to me.

Like, okay, if, for example, they reduced the size of the world or removed certain features because the Xbone can't handle that shit, I could understand people getting mad. But this? This is just pathetic.

an analogy: you say why should the music industry offer high quality audio-files if only a minority of the buyers have the equipment and the physical ability to hear a difference? bullshit, right?

'HEY PS4 OWNERS WE'RE INTENTIONALLY DEGRADING THE QUALITY OF YOUR GAME FOR THE BENEFIT OF XBOX ONE PLAYERS'

free advertisement!! what could go wrong??
Sarcasm.

I just find it hilarious that they want to "avoid all the debates and stuff" by openly admitting they are forcing parity and screwing over a good portion of their audience.

Hopefully it's launch parity and eventually a 1080p patch for PS4 comes out like with AC4. Otherwise, fuck this.

Where were all the third-party 360 games crippled for 'parity' with PS3 last-gen?

Then again when the shoe was on the other foot, I did feel cheated for buying an inferior product.

Ex: Skyrim and Bayonetta.

So many confused people in here.

We aren't angry that the PS4 and XB1 versions are running at the same specs.

We're mad because Ubisoft flat out said PS4 could do better, but they decided to keep it the same because of "debates".

Nobody has a problem with them busting their ass on the XB1 version to get it up to where the PS4 version is. It's the fact that they chopped the PS4 version down.

That isn't what UBI said nor what happened! They said the game is CPU bound. PS4 only has a more powerful graphics chip. if you are cpu bound, both systems are essentially the same speed.

all this ranting and raving is a waste of time people. Ubi hit parity by needing more CPU. Not because they couldn't make use of performance in PS4's GPU.

Damn right, some people are blaming MS but they don't have that power.. and even if they were to have told them to do it Ubi agreed (and they near certainly didn't).

This is Ubi's fault, full stop. Again, it isn't parity but rather the reason that is frustrating.

Parity is reason enough for me to boycott a game; if any console maker messed up its machine architecture, it's not a valid reason for the others platform to be limited by the dumb one.

Resolution and targetted frame rate don't tell the whole story of a game. Actual frame rate, shadows, lighting and AA can all be different and can make the game look and run differently.

Give me some twitter accounts Im on fcking fire. Burning with rage

Dunno many big gaming personalities doe.

Too bad Alexandre Amancio and others working on the game aren't using twitter.

Also trying to get @yosp @amboyes to retweet the hashtag

well on most levels... because you're paying for the experience of the product, not it's resolution.

Did you not but DVD movies because it was available to be seen in-theaters at better quality? No, you buy it because you want the content and all you had was a DVD player.

its not pathetic.

1080p looks better then 900p on my monitor. Its fucking 2014 and 1080 should be the standard resolution for gaming on consoles.

Here we have THE next big AC game running at 900p on both consoles. Why is that?

What incentive does Ubisoft have to force parity if money isn't exchanging hands with Microsoft?

Let's not be naive.

Better sales for the version on the system they are advertising the game with while at the same time still probably getting a huge amount of sales on the PS4 either way maybe? They already got a lot of money from MS just from advertising.

I would buy into it if this becomes a trend in the future (Call of Duty, Evolve, etc.) but as of right now this seems to be all Ubisoft. As I said in one of my previous posts, Ubisoft didn't even have to say anything about this. They could have just confirmed it's 900p on both and left it at that and have many people assume it isn't 1080p due to "the game doing more than the cross-gen Black Flag" or having people think "PS4 will still probably having better visual effects".

This (IMO, warranted) reaction is mainly from Ubisoft's terrible statement.

So when it's 1080 on PS4 and 900 on Xb1, what will their excuse be? Ubisoft seems to be using the "we don't want a debate" excuse here, so why not there?

hint: they have a marketing deal with MS for ACU.

Yeah, it's so obvious I can't believe some people can't see it. If people actually interpret what he said literally, they're tin-foil hat wearers. If they ignore what he said completely, they're sensible and intelligent posters.

The real tin-foil hat wearers are those that have constantly denied this goes on. It's both ironic and frightening.

You mean that game that came out a year ago, before we had any indication of how MS would carry the generation

But yeah, it's more likely that Ubi didn't try to make the X1 version of a game they have a marketing deal with MS look worse in comparison out of kindness in their hearts

Jeez. I really am glad this stuff doesn't bother me as much as it does some of the people in here. It's like ubi literally slapped y'all across the face.

Some serious anger in these comments lol

One could argue that Microsoft realized the differences in software were greatly hurting the sales for their platform and went for a more aggressive strategy of forced parity.

I really can't think of a reason for Ubisoft to do this by themselves.

So a year later we get to enjoy a game with worse graphics than its predecessor?

Hahaha I don't think so. Bargain bin it is.

I'm kinda glad now that I don't own a single game from Ubisoft, or any of the past AC titles, as it's going to be easy to keep it that way. I might have been tempted to try ACU before the forced parity, as I've bought games (like Infamous) this gen I that I've passed on the PS3, but now I'll just ignore it like I've done before.

Resolution is part of the experience though.
