One person returning a Surface Pro 2 is not going to hurt them financially, or teach them a lesson. Don't get carried away.
Two platforms, almost 90% similar. I should be able to purchase it on the platform that I enjoy playing on without worrying about sacrificing the graphic quality.
Its not about the resolution/framerate, man, and no one has said the game itself is terrible. Its about not allowing a company to moneyhat another or allow said company to shirk providing the best experience they can. It has nothing to do with the game itself, but it's all about doing what you can to change how they operate, which in the modern world means not buying a product.
The issue is them crippling the PS4 version so as not to embarrass the people who make and buy the XBone. If MS made an underpowered console, that's their issue to deal with, not mine. I don't want to spend the rest of the generation capped by the XBone's performance limits.Wtf is wrong with people.
You see a game that looks cool, that you plan on buying.
And then suddenly its announced its not 1080p and 60fps and suddenly the game is shit, 3/10, do not buy.
I agree that the parity force is stupid, but come on.
Holy shit lolWhat would Ubisoft know about parity?
![]()
lol good oneThe problem isn't the res itself, it could be the framerate, AA or other effect.
The problem is that for "parity" they decided to lower some attribute of one version so it just can look as the same as the other.
And, as I said before, I will not buy the X1 version so, for parity reasons, I will not buy the PS4 one either.
I think there's a difference between this case and something like Destiny or Diablo. For one thing, we know for a fact that MS intervened in those cases. But also they brought the Xbone version of those games up to 'parity' (except not really) with the PS4 version, which the developers didn't have time/money to do on their own.
Here it's different, because MS are (presumably) legislating that the two versions are identical by lowering the standard of the PS4 version to the Xbone version, which is different.
No point in trying to tell people wait till more information gets dropped. I'm pretty sure if Microsoft is actually behind it, it will come out. Irregardless, people jump to conclusions way too fast.I feel like people are making a giant leap here based on one sentence.
Last I checked Microsoft wasn't developing this game.
Parity is fine if you hit 1080p (see destiny).
900p fuck right off.
The fact that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Unity are going to run and look the same doesn't bother me at all! Honestly, I could care less.
Just as a follow up to this post, just got my cancellation email from Bestbuy:

This was a discounted preorder as well (about $20 cheaper than MSRP) so there's absolutely no chance that I'm buying this at full price new, just going to wait for it to show up used if I really want to play it.
I've typed up and deleted my thoughts on this twitter post three times now.
Reactions to this are ridiculous to say the least.
Also, PS4 version probably runs better anyway.
But anyone who prefers PS4 is sacrificing the graphical quality. Not compared with the XB1 version, but compared to what it otherwise would have been, judging by Ubisoft's comment. Two platforms, almost 90% similar. I should be able to purchase it on the platform that I enjoy playing on without worrying about sacrificing the graphic quality.
I'm kinda meh on the AC series so i'm like....whatevs
but, please Ubi - do not FUCK with parity bullshit on Far Cry 4
Maybe the original plan was 900p PS4, 720p xbox one, and MS send technical support to make it 900p?
I enjoyed my short time with Unity, and cant wait to jump into its labyrinth of streets and stories. However, a cloud of doubt hangs over the games ability to run satisfactorily on the next-gen consoles. To go back to a previous paragraph, Assassins Creed: Unity is beautiful when youre standing still.
Theres still a bit of time to go, and the version we got our hands on could well be several revisions and optimisations old, but Unitys performance issues are concerning. Targeting 900p and 30fps, it sports the same slightly vaselined look as its stable mate, Watch_Dogs, and gets very muddy and choppy in motion. The framerate behaves more erratically than an aristocrat during peasant uprising obviously it depends on the scene, and the engine seemed to handle quieter streets and interiors without too many issues, but when trying to replicate moments from the trailers, perched up high, looking down on the crowd gathered at Notre Dame, the FPS took a nose dive into the low twenties. This happened a lot, especially during the kind of rooftop chases you can expect to be getting into pretty regularly. We were playing an Xbox One build, but were told that both console versions are the same.

Seems like you absolutely don't understand what the problem here is. So you just entered this thread to tell us that you're buying the Xbone version. Two platforms, almost 90% similar. It benefits Microsoft, because it neutralizes a distinct advantage of the PlayStation.
Pretty sure parity clauses are the secret sauce.
What would Ubisoft know about parity?

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff"

Uhh, if we learned anything, it's that parity is NOT fine, did you not see the Destiny thread when it was announced that both consoles were hitting 1080p?
MS is at fault for not rubustly speccing the XB1, but at the same time, they're in a position where they can't gain anything, any how, because everything falls into 3 categories.
1) Game is 1080p on both consoles: BOO! PS4 got shafted! Why can't the devs give us 8xMSAA or Super Duper HBAO+++ on PS4? Why isn't the game 1080p60?!
2) Game is less than 1080p on both or either consoles: BOO! PS4 got shafted! Xbone is holding us back!
3) Game is 1080p on PS4, 900p/???p on XB1: LMAO, ZOMG, Xbone iz so week!!111!! (As if it hasn't been know for over a year that the PS4 has pretty sizable hardware advantage >.>)
Pretty much, no matter what they do, they lose somehow. It's not an enviable position, and if I were an MS engineer, I'd feel like bashing my head against the wall, because the XB1 reputation gets a hit from this no matter what they do.
I don't support parity, but I think this entire things is rather overblown and is covering the real issue here. I don't really think the game is 900p on both consoles just cause MS paid them so (As GribbleGrunger and others are so keen to spectate). I think the real issue is that the engine for ACU is giving them trouble and the game needs another couple of months in the oven.
I'm feeling a delay on this bad boy.
It'll have some effect due to memory contention, but that's not really what's being discussed.CPU has no effect on resolution, at all.
