Both are easy as all hell, given unlimited continues and their arcade origins.

Glad this is finally making its way to the PS Store. Been wanting it since it was released with the Japanese retail release of the new Strider.
It did but it was on a separate disk at it least was in Europe I don't know if it was the same in the US.
What are you talking about? Five hit the US PSN this week alone.

I don't think PSP is ever excluded. Sony's initial licensing probably included PSP and PS3, but Vita was added later, hence why it's not always a given

Oh, this is a PS1 Classic? I assumed it was a sequel to the recent remake. Makes much more sense, especially since it's not coming to PS4.

It is an enjoyable game, but it is incredibly short, due perhaps to the fact that there are insert-coin type infinite continues. It feels like an incredibly direct arcade port.
Separate discs in the US. Mine are labeled wrong with a Strider 2 label on the Strider disc and vice versa, if I recall correctly.

Yesssss. I was so mad at first, popped in the Strider 2 disc and got Strider 1, I was like "WTF is this shit!" I thought I got taken for a ride. Then I was like "wait a minute, if this is S1, what's the S1 disc?" and was super happy.
I LOVE Strider 2. This is going to be bought so hard.
Heh, takes me back. The discs for strider 1 and 2 had the opposite labels printed on them. So, Strider 1 was printed on Strider 2 and vice versa. I remember as a teenager renting the game for a weekend and just putting back the strider 1 disc. This was before my video store got smart and started printing out "2 disc" stickers on cases that were supposed to have multiple discs on return. Just kept Strider 2 in a clear jewel case. I thought I was so clever and wicked for doing that. What a dolt I was.

Strider 2 is great. The worst thing about it is the slowdown that causes you to drop inputs. That can be really frustrating when you're about to star rank a stage and all of a sudden you eat an attack that you should have evaded. Goodbye, 1.8 million bonus.
Mission 0 is also pretty terrible. It's as if Capcom went out of their way to make a stage that highlights one of the game's major flaws: being able to run through large enemies, sit behind them, and slash away until they die. Then again, I suppose the lack of enemy collision is decent compromise to keep the action flowing. The game is really fast paced with hardly any dull moments.
Strider 2 may not be as well designed as the original, but I would say that the higher difficulty, good scoring system, and Strider's more complex moveset make the game more enjoyable to play.

So I just bought it, and yeah...when I booted up the game it went straight into the original Strider. Nary a mention of the sequel. I'm at the Amazon stage as I type.

did they intend to include both games or just Strider 2?
Try pressing the PS button and checking if there's a disc option? I'm guessing both games effectively act as if they're stand alone releases despite being bundled.
On the plus side, thanks for answering my question on whether or not the original is included!
