Finally!

Way of the Samurai 4 is in the weekly deals section, but the price hasn't changed yet. Hope it'll be a good discount. I've been waiting for a WotS4 sale FOREVER.

They should probably call it "strider 1&2" on the store, lots of confusion about this. Mad props to them for not splitting them into separate releases/just cutting out strider 1
And for a standard price of $5.99.

Oh and more confusing is that the collection initially boots Strider 1. You have to switch discs to play Strider 2.

Another week, another no Minecraft Vita. Seriously. Where the fuck is this port. I'm starting to believe it's cursed.

The reason that the Vita has been hard to find on store shelves is because they've had them all repackaged in a brand new Minecraft bundle.

That's the hold up.

That's probably because the original discs were mislabeled. Strider 2 was marked as Strider 1 and vice versa. Seems whoever is in charge of this stuff at Sony didn't know that.

How deep is the strategy in Monster Monpiece? I am a long time player of Magic: The Gathering and Yu Gi Oh!, how is this game? can you create different decks with different tactics? deckbuilding is what I like the most in card games.

Would like to know this as well. Long time Yu-Gi-Oh player, and craving a decent card game to play on my Vita. A shame the psp games aren't on psn to download.

There's no reason to split it:
It was originally released as 2 discs being Strider 1 and Strider 2. Part of Sony' PSX Classic re-release policy or whatever is that the game must be exactly as its original release with hardly any changes.
On JPN PSN for example, Rival Schools 1 comes with the character customization disc that the original game got released with.

do we know if Strider 2 will come to EU?

Was it released in PAL regions back in the day?

It's coming to Steam. PS3 ver. has screen tearing, you don't want to subject yourself to THAT do you? Just wait a little longer.

I'm pretty sure even at the lowest settings+Vsync it can run at 60 FPS and you can still experience the megamelons.

Integrated graphics. Don't think I'm willing to risk it.

EDIT: Looks like it's only $10 off, anyway (unless there's a PS+ discount that isn't showing up yet). Still too much to take the plunge.

On the web PSN store I see some interesting games under weekly deals but no discounts listed so maybe they haven't been updated.

Guided Fate Paradox - 19.99 (i'm interested)
Mugen Souls Z - 29.99 (also interested but at cheaper price)
One Piece World Red Prestige edition includes game and Prestige DLC pack
PS3 - 59.99
Vita - 49.99 (Extremely interested)
Neptunia PP - 29.99 (Who isn't interested, amiright?)

There are melee, ranged, buff and healing cards. Deckbuilding is huge, unlike most games you generally want mostly cards of only one or two "elements" (elements do not affect direct damage, only skills and "Aura Bonus"), by placing cards on the same element consecutively you earn nothing, +1 mana, then +5? mana and +1HP/Attack for all units on the board. This strongly encourages defensive play and getting a lot of units on the board and keeping them there, but certain cards are useful for getting early hits in. If you don't get aura bonuses you're basically unable to play good cards with any regularity.

Healing and buff cards heal or buff (surprise!) the card immediately in front of them, so generally you put a tank card with lots of HP in front, and let the added attack or health from the buff/healing character take them even further. You can also use ranged units, a row with several ranged units effectively stacks their attack power (but there's no "piecing", all cards attack at once, to one target per column, each turn). I find healing cards more effective than buffers because with a bunch of heals you can let the aura bonus add attack. The aura health bonus is insignificant for healing, but a nice addition to max HP.

Also, you can combine 2 cards of the same "type" (creature type, class and color, so generally but not always the same card/levels of the same card) to add the attack/health/SP/buff stats of those cards. It's a way to "heal" units or immediately add high stats to a weak card or generally to improve your offense/defense in a row immediately

I find that if you can get 2 characters in each row to survive long enough to start getting Aura bonuses you're in great shape, and with cards to stack in an emergency you can hold pretty good control of the battlefield at least against AIs. Generally it's a game about building up an insurmountable force and pushing forward on 2 or 3 columns (you will basically never win with only one column of attack), so games take a long time to start dealing damage to bases, but once they do it may all happen in 1-3 turns.

It really is a shame people read the name and think "teehee boobies", the strategy really is quite fun.

I just wanted to know, if I bought a PS+ subscription, do I have to use the code within a few days?

The bought codes have no expiry that Im' aware of, check the info you got with it. But the cards they give you literally sit around for ages before being sold, they can't really let 'em expire.

Thanks. I couldn't see anything about an expiry date, but I just wanted to double check.

I'm actually interested in NPP but was hoping for $20, I can get physical for $30 on amazon at any time.

I hope Mugen Souls Z is a big improvement on the first. Mildly amusing premise/art, execution of the gameplay is meh, the story was incredibly wannabe-Disgaea.

It's an interesting deckbuilder. You place your cards (units) on the gameboard each turn, and starting the following turn (except for rare units) they start advancing towards the enemy zone. Some units have special abilities, such as buffing or healing units in front of them, and some have ranged weapons. You can also stack certain units to combine skillsets - for example, putting some weak unit down that doesn't move at all, then stacking a powerful archer on top to defend a lane.

Units are divided into different color groups, and while you can place any card you can afford, there are bonuses for chaining the same color for a couple turns (this maxes out so you can start a new chain w/o feeling like you're stuck playing green).

The 'rubbing' game will evolve a card, but interestingly, some times the newer cards don't 'seem' as good. For example, a high attack unit may suddenly drop some attack points when evolved... but gain a skill. If you learn to use the skills appropriately, often the card is actually far more powerful, but new players tend to think some cards get worse. You can have dupes of the weaker card so it's not an issue if you still want to play those. Skills are very varied, and can be quite powerful (severely damaging all cards of a certain type, or location, or buffing/debuffing, etc).

Tactic definitely come into play - everything from deciding to suicide drop a weak card to slow down an enemy and start a color chain going, to letting the enemy score a point while you build up a different lane.

The AI isn't terribly good -- it usually has a good start (nice starting cards) but rarely can maintain an advantage against a skilled player once you defend against the initial wave. I don't know that i ever lost a game against the AI. However, the online community has (had?) some very skilled players - but until you have a competitive deck you'll be crushed by cards with amazing powers.

Overall... the groundwork/foundation is there for a solid deckbuilder and I think if you found a community to play serious with it -is- a solid deckbuilder. However, by the time I finished the game, upgraded all my cards for the trophies, etc, i was too burned out to really invest in MP past the plat.

In short, MM will probably scratch that deckbuilder itch for awhile, but you'll probably wish the AI was more challenging. The MP can definitely be challenging if there is still MP to be found (don't know).

I actually really liked the card game part of Uncharted: FFF too... though that was saddled by terrible AI.

Monster Monpiece has invite-based multiplayer, right? I'm sure there's enough gaffers around to get some matches in. The AI's pretty dumb, but still an okay testing ground, and I'm quite glad it exists to get cards, if it were online versus only I'd never have bothered

Guided Fate Paradox is more than worth it. Great game, though I still need to get around to beating it (just like every JRPG I've started in the past two years).

It's a shame the servers are pretty barren.

Thanks a lot for the explanation ;) it looks interesting, I will buy it before the offer ends.

We may play between gaffers then.

On a scale of 999->VLR, how terrible are the puzzles in the danganronpa games? Also, can i play those games without feeling like a pervy peter?

There are no traditional puzzles but instead the nonstop debate segments of the class trials are occasionally broken up by mini games. They're mediocre in the first game but I found them downright bad in the second. There are a few fanservice-y bits in both games but I think there are more in the second game. They're not really anything to get too worked up about, though.

Since I've only played 999, what do you mean by that spectrum? And really minimal fanservice in DR1 (I can think of only two short scenes). Have yet to play DR2.
