PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

How're the PSP prince of persia games? Do any of them have noteworthy platforming?

Though Vita is slightly worse than PS3, in comparison.

So? It's a terrible graphics engine anyway you look at it. It runs fine on PC, but go put those games on console and they run like shit.

Wolf among us ran fine for me on PC, and I got it on PS3. Wanted my brother to try it AND IT CRASHES AT THE FIRST QTE.

I'm amazed how much work and accolades Telltale continues to get considering their post-Sam&Max stuff seems to all perform terribly and glitchily (I only played Devil's Playhouse on a non-PC platform thanks to PS+ but I didn't have any issues.)

Absolutely awful. I mean the 2D game is sort of ok but has some really bad issus as well and can be frustrating for all the wrong reasons. The ports of the 3D games are horrible on PSP. They run like shit and have control issues.

I have all of them thanks to a Ubi sale early this year and they are solid ports all things considedering :).

PoP: Two Thrones PSP has frame rate issues but it runs well enough to be playable :). Plus, you get extra content not in the original game or the Wii Port (mini-platforming rooms and charet races).

PoP: Warrior Within PSP is a much better port :D. It runs very well (even reaching 60FPS every once and a while) and it controls are a bit better the TT PSP. Doesn't have extra content though.

PoP: The Forgotten Sands PSP is a very solid game :). It is more or less a 2D Prince game but with 2.5D graphics; you can run on walls, the powers from the Wii version are used within the level designs, the battles are okay-ish and the graphics look nice. I enjoyed it at the very least :).

Yeah me too. I'm getting frustrated at times when Pix either turns too fast or too late.

When exactly is the "perfect" timing for turning anyway? Right when pix steps on the tile to turn from or what? I get perfects like 50% of the time and I'm never very sure why it didn't work. I also get them much more frequently when moving one tile at a time before turning, basically never when walking multiple tiles before a turn.

Are you god at that game or is it fast? I consider fast completion time a plus lately

I played the game on on my xbox 360 two years ago so I knew where to go and what to do. I skipped the cut scenes as well. The game normally is almost 20-30 hours without knowing anything and grinding.

I think I'll get WW and FS if they ever go on sale for like under $5.

Please tell me there's a way to turn off the PS4 notification when your controller turns off. Every time I watch a movie I see it, and I just wonder why they think I'd want to know that. I can't find an option though.

My exact problem, I don't know either to be honest. I don't know if I'm not turning at the precise time, or pix is unresponsive.

I think the control issues others mention stem from a lack of right stick camera control; the camera of the PSP versions uses both a OoT-esc camera shift (press L/R to rest it behind you) or sudo-right stick control (hold Square and move the camera around with the left stick).

It isn't perfect, but enough to make the games playable :). Again, I play games with iffy control set ups a good while (100% Mario 64 DS when I first got it XD! No analog stick needed :)).

Jet Car Stunts is a great 'one more go' game. Lots of fun, and really scratches that Trackmania itch.

It also reminds me of that marble game on XBLA, as your constantly throwing yourself across huge gaps, navigating narrow platforms, and hoping that you don't drop into the abyss.

My one gripe is that I wish restart was mapped to a button. You can quickly restart the last checkpoint, but to restart the whole course, you have to go into the menu.

It's only a small complaint though, and with the three gameplay types (platforming, time trials and collectables), there's plenty of content.

Yeah reminds me of Trials. Only like 16 tracks in platforming mode but it will take you a while to get through it. WARNING: Game is hard. "Very Easy" may frustrate you. The visuals are bare bones and looks like the video for Dire Straits Money for Nothing video. Still couldn't stop playing until I nailed the race despite having to figure out the wonky crazy physics in this game where apparently we are playing on a planet with a low gravitational pull. Runs well on Vita and loads up fast.

I thought this ran fine on PSP. My problem was with the game and it being confusing on the backtracking and getting lost. I think this series peaked with Sands of Time.

My Vita is charging via USB even while in standby! When was this improved? Or was it always like that? I'm confused.
Last time I checked it would only charge in standby/turned on when connected to a wall socket while via USB only worked when powered-off.
The light stays blue and the battery icon doesn't show the electricity effect but it's definitively charging. I transferred a game to my PC but didn't remove the cable, the battery was 50% empty and is now almost full.

Anyone have one of those extra 50$ trade in gamestop codes to pawn off to a fellow gaffer? I am going to be parting with my OG model in hopes that the 2k model shoulder buttons will improve my experience in Gravity Rush. I appreciate it in advance.

I know this is off topic but finally found out how to enable the '100 Posts' option :D. Will make going through threads a bit easier :).

As for the Vita, the new games I got are really fun so far :D.

Pix the Cat is amazing XD! Pac-Man meets Chu-Chu Rocket is a perfect combination, and I love how it looks/controls so far :). This will be a game being 'stuck' on my Vita for quite some time :D.

Silent Hill is really great :). The dark atmosphere, the solid controls (using your gun for combat is good :); melee weapons control like ass sadly :(), great presentation make me really enjoy it so far. Can't wait to see when the really fucked up stuff starts to happen :D.

Sudiken seems to be good so far :); only played the first half hour of it so far. The visuals look really nice and the combat will be a lot of fun once I level up everyone a bit (got into a random battle when exploring the map and at least three people died :().

Metal Gear Solid....will be something I gotta let sink in :l. I must really suck as stealth games to die at the damn starting section three times in a row :(..... But, I really like the characters (Snake is priceless XD; flirting with all the girls over his inter-com and his sarcastic wit make him funny character so far :D) and the visuals look really nice on the Vita. Might end up enjoying the game (with me hoping that will make me enjoy MGS 2 and 3).

Castlevanna SotN is great so far :D. Love how smooth the controls are, the visuals look great alongside the soundtrack being amazing so far, and the voice acting is priceless XD! Out of the four games I got out of the Konami sale, this has to be my favorite one so far :).

Lastly, there is Vib Ribbon. Only got it yesterday and only gave it 10 minutes of gameplay but it seems really odd to me :l. The controls are confusing and I kept dying a lot :(. Gotta give it time I guess :). I love how odd the game looks and sounds, so that will keep me drawn into it :D.

Between all those games and a huge backlog I have to get though, I will have plenty to play between classes this semester :D.

They are just going for the true Lucasarts adventure game legacy. Beautiful amazing games that have trouble running.

I stopped buying Telltale games because 1)they always have problems crashing or running properly

And 2)they have been racing towards the bottom of playability. I kept seeing their releases move more and more to guided movie sequences and that's pretty much where they've stayed. (With a few exceptions). Reviewers love that kind of game for some reason.

I know, I was just stating a fact. I played it on both PS3 and Vita, got through them without any major issue.

most reviewers don't want to be running around for hours on end trying to solve puzzles or get through really complicated game sections that require replaying. they have deadlines, so that sort of thing is skewed towards it being easy and readily playable. these are the type of thing that need to considered when reading game reviews

Is there a way to get the Borderlands 2 DLC for Vita without the voucher code? I have a used copy, and man, I really want those DLC.
I don't see anything in the store...and now that I think about it, I remember when I redeemed the voucher I got, it added BL2 and ALL the DLC to my download list, right away. Seeing as how the only way to buy BL2 by itself is used via second hand shop, I don't think you'll be able to get them otherwise :( That is a shame though, the devs need all the support they can get. This is a lame oversight, for sure :\
When are we going to see an Vita EDF2017 sale like that for NA? :(
Probably never :( I watched EDF for months and months and months before I saw it drop to 20 initially, when I bought it. I've seen some similar sales on it, but it seems like the price drops for that are rarely announced. It just happens...but it's a blast! Definitely going to be buying the upcoming PS4 version.
I asked this elsewhere but the thread got buried:

Terraria Vita, do you need to manually update to 1.2? (came out in April), my version shows no sign of being able to disable the rear touch pad.
Didn't see anyone respond, but it seems like you have to manually update. Just be connected to PSN and hit that "refresh" looking button on the splash screen before you load the game.

Welcome to the Elite. The Vita Elite. The Vitalite.

At less than 200mb, I feel the same way. I actually really dislike all the other "Pix" games, I am just turned off by them. But this one, like you said, is a great combination of Pac-Man/Chu Chu, or someone else said Pac-Man/Snake. I say how about Pac-Man/Snake/Chu Chu! But yea, this game is a good bit of fun. I booted it up on the PS4 last night for the first time, got a meager score on the opening level, and decided that I must perfect it as best as I could. Except on the Vita, which is the obvious place for this a game like this.

So how did reviewers get around to reviewing Monkey Island 1 and 2 back in the day?

Does ps4 spelunky have trophies? I played for about 30 min last night and went to look at the trophie list and it didn't even show up. And I just looked on the playstation app and it isn't there either. I might be dumb and missed something but I can't find any info on it.

SAO:HF once again championed the best PSN sellers for September on Vita, obviously thanks to Sinon.

I'm sold at the name, will check it out later.

Penetrating the top of the charts

I thought I saw some pop up but I don't see it in the PS app either (nor do I see Dust, I know I got trophies in that). They might not have "published" the trophy list yet, I noticed when I palyed Velocity 2X early I earned trophies normally but I couldn't actually access the list until official launch, but all earned trophies were there when it did launch.

Anybody else glad to see new Classic releases selling in the Top 10 on PSN when they were up against a Rock* sale?

More Classics Sony, I want more!

Damn. I think I'll have to buy the voucher from someone who don't care about them.

So I've bought a ps3. Resonance of Fate, yay or nay?
Yes! Such a great game. Just play the tutorial in the arena first. The battle system can be confusing at the beginning and a bit intimidating but once it clicks it's very enjoyable.
The story feels a bit rushed because the game wastes to much time with random story fragments and ends up with too little time to tell the main story. It's not bad though and the cutscenes are hilarious. Just worth mentioning to set expectations accordingly.
One of my favourite games on the PS3.
