Nintendo Downloads - October 2014

Not sure where else to ask, anyone had a good experience with Wii Fit U? I had a balance board already so I got the Fit meter to claim the free* full version of the game, haven't used it much though. I only played it a bit, best I can tell only a few games let you play with gamepad + balance board only? Balance board + TV is a bit of an annoyance, as are wiimotes.

Most of the games use the wiimote. I love it and use it as a big part of my normal fitness routine along with the gym and the ubisoft fitness game.

IR pointer or just motion? the sensor bar is the complication, it's a real pain to use the balance board in front of my TV and setting a sensor bar elsewhere is even more of one.

So, CotM isn't a Metroidvania? Is it more like the classic Castlevania games, then?

It's a metroidvania, it's just not an Igarashi game like all the others.

It does lean a little closer to the old formula in a couple different ways--the controls are closer to something you'd find in a 16-bit game, there's less emphasis on gear and stats and the animations/sprites are a lot less elaborate--but a lot of people enjoy it precisely because of those aspects.

It also suffered from being really difficult to see on the OG GBA, but that obviously won't be a problem on Wii U.

(Harmony of Dissonance, next week's game, has the exact opposite problem: IGA used a a lot of garish colours/highlights to make sure the game was easy to play on an OG GBA, but particular sprites/environments look hideous on anything with a backlight.)

Thanks for the info guys. I'm at work and away from my 3DS, but aside from Castlevania 1, what Castlevania games are on EU 3DS eShop?

For that matter, which is better to get-
3DS Tetris or GB Tetris?

CV1, 2, 3, CV Adventure and Mirror of Fate are all on the eShop.

3DS Tetris has a ton of modes including online play, it'd be the version to get unless you're really nostalgic for the original. The newer games change specific small rules about the game but if you're a casual player it probably won't bother you at all.

Ubisoft is releasing a new Tetris game soon, but I don't know anything about that one.

Do you like Classic GB/NES Tetris where the block hits the ground and stops or do you like the new rules about infinite spinning in place and storing pieces?

On the U.S. eShop, 3DS Tetris is like $10 and GB Tetris is the standard GB price ($4?). If you like Tetris a lot, just get both. :P

Is the North America PR out yet? It normally is posted here by now and I'm curious if the words "Bayonetta 2 Demo" are anywhere.

Mostly motion. the only game with pointer controls I can remember off the top of my head is the snowball fight. However, the gamepad has a sensor bar built in so you should be fine if the idea is to just play on the gamepad.

So pumped for Circle of the Moon. I didn't realize it wasn't an IGA game. It took sometime before it struck a chord with me, though. Coming hot off AoS and DoS and SotN, CotM was starkly different and it put me off immediately. It felt dated and clunky. But at some point, don't remember when/where exactly, I realized what the game was about and how it pulled it off amazingly. It's tough, dark, and gritty, and fun as hell, and I started to really appreciate how different it was from the bright and colorful Sorrows. Never did finish that first play-through though so I'm getting it as soon as the clock strikes noon.

I've always wanted to play Circle of the Moon ever since seeing it in an old Nintendo Power. I've only ever played a tiny bit of SotN, so I'm pretty pumped. Soon.

I'm guessing this time they will release the PR at noon, when the eshop is updated with the almighty Bayonetta 2 demo.

I just checked Wikipedia and Bayo 2 has the same release date in Europe as the US. So it would be worthwile to check at noon, since there isn't an issue of the US getting the retail game weeks later.

what's so special about DSi Tetris? I have my GB and OG Tetris.

It's the best portable version, in that it provides for a good core Tetris experience, plus some modernization without too much extra junk thrown in.

It just sucks that the Nintendo WFC was taken down =(

Tetris DS is where it's at IMO.

Since we are still lacking PR.. Can someone check the Wii U NA eShop to see if ZaciSa's Last Stand is listed on sale in the sale category for $0.99?

Does anyone think Konami will have a Castlevania/Halloween sale, or just the release of VC games? I want to pick up SCIV, but I fear a sale this month.

Huh, no announcement of what VC titles are hitting in two weeks? What happened, they were doing great for a while at telling us future releases. Least Castlevania fans will be pleased with two GBA titles next week.

Does anyone think Konami will have a Castlevania/Halloween sale, or just the release of VC games? I want to pick up SCIV, but I fear a sale this month.
Considering all the games they've been adding this month (we're at what, 4 next week?), I kind of hope so. I liked Rondo of Blood, so hoping Super Castlevania IV will get a discount, even if it's priced at $5.

Swords and Soldiers 3D is an absolute mess and not worth putting on your system even if it was free. I was pretty excited when it was released and the I played it. It is a blurry, lag fest that runs at about 12fps. Deleted it.
