PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Nope. If they would release they would probably be PAL versions anyway so whatever.

I don't think there has been any Classics released in EU since MGS: VR Missions in september 2013. That's one area where SCEE has really dropped the ball.

Thanks. I really should make a US account, not being able to play Xenogears and Suikoden is really becoming a problem for me, that and the superior framerate for the FF games.
I really wish I didn't bought so many games on my EU account, guess I should buy a second Vita then.

Time to play that Bayonetta 2 demo. I'll have to choose between that and Shinovi Versus this month.

I have a similar dilemma, though my problem is between Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Shinovi Versus. Time and money allows me to only get two of them. I'm leaning towards just waiting on HW until most of the DLC is out.

Bayonetta 2 comes with two games. I'd get that one over Hyrule Warriors any day of the week.

Crazy thought...they probably actually played the games quit a good bit! I doubt back then there was the sheer volume of games that we are swimming through now. So likely they actually had time to spend on the games they were reviewing, giving them the ability to review the game well.

Quite the opposite. In the days of the printing press it was quite common to see reviewers who barely played the games they were talking about, as deadlines were far worse than they are today.

The physical edition of Shinovi Versus is limited so if physical games are important to you i wouldn't wait too long for that one.

True, though if I decide not to get it now I will probably never get it. October and beyond looks too crazy for me to get it later.

I think those extra costumes would be worth it, or the possibility of playing it on the Gamepad.

Don't really care too much for the costumes (though they do look nice). Don't really like the gamepad much either.

Man, you guys are not making this decision easy for me lol.

After extensive play of Hyrule Warriors (loving it to pieces) and being incredibly hyped for Shinovi Versus, I'd still say that Bayonetta 2 is probably the highest quality product of the three with insane longevity. Add in Bayonetta 1 in its ultimate form and you have a package on par with the Orange Box or the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Or at least almost. In the end, you probably can't go wrong with either of the three as long as you enjoy their respective genre.

GTA: LCS (PSP) has been removed from the Vita store for reasons unknown. Willing to bet it's another one of SCEA's mistakes. Wonder what else has vanished that no one's noticed ...

Also, the NHL app on Vita is advertised on the PS Store's Live Area but it doesn't work. They haven't updated it for the 2014-2015 season, lol.

Ubisoft announced it for Vita during E3. Europe is getting a retail release too.

It's also only one that is Vita exclusive in Japan - 1&2 can be played on psp there.

If Sony were worried about exclusives that list is pretty awful.

Damn Divekick isn't crossbuy after all. That was part of the reason when I bought for Vita.

It is Cross-Buy, but just with the PS3 version. It's can be annoying and confusing when publishers do that.

After a month waiting (based customs), I finally got my Hori face cover for the Vita 2000.

It's all glossy plastic and I believe even the air can scratch it, but at least it's not slippery. The hinge will probably survive for quite some time under normal use, and the front lid is seriously sturdy - your analogs are safe inside it (the screen should be fine, too). It might even survive a fall face down. The Vita gets bulkier than an OLED model, but it's a nice thing to use when carrying the Vita on your jacket's pockets, without worries about the analogs.

Also, the whole thing even fits my case, but I don't think I'll use it like that.

Sorry I've been out of the loop for a few days...has Driveclub PS+ edition been released yet?

Nope! Don't think we'll see it this week - the game launches on UK tomorrow and who knows how the servers will fare with the new players.

Allegedly monday's maintenance is backend improvements (tee hee) so maybe the servers will be in good enough shape tuesday.

Best Buy just sent me a notice that they shipped my copy of Senran Kagura. I hope it gets here before Tuesday so I can play it early. That hype :)

So, with the PSTV launch at less than a week away and its store going live a day before I wanna ask: Do you guys think all those previously incompatible PSP/PS1 titles will also become compatible with Vita? Or maybe the list is wrong TBW?

Probably not. I hope to be wrong though.
PS3 transfer games looks to be working though.

I mean stuff like Twisted Metal: Head On, Motorstorm: Artic Edge, Future Cop L.A.P.D, games that are supposed to be compatible at launch with PSTV which were previously PS3 Transfer only or incompatible altogether, meaning they might have gotten some licensing deals underway (I see various EA games on that list now compatible) including for their own games. The question is if those licensing deals let the Vita join the fun, too.

When it comes to handhelds, take everything SCEA says with a salt mill.

For those of you who are curious about Hatsune Miku's performance on David Letterman last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA5pIpdQEr0

It's not very good.

Is she supposed to be singing in English? Because I don't understand most of it and I'd like to think I have a good enough level to grasp those lyrics.

Probably not. I hope to be wrong though.
PS3 transfer games looks to be working though.

And you can transfer over wifi, right? Still a problem for people without a PS3 but yeah...

And I wonder how those PS1-PSP games will look on a big screen. Not that good, probably.

Yep, Miku's English voice bank is kind of terrible. Nobody can understand her. :(

Edit: It also doesn't help that the song just isn't that great.

Did you buy directly from them? How was the experience?

Nope, they don't ship internationally (or I missed something). Got this on play-asia (tried amiami and amazon before going there, but the former didn't have it in stock and I wasn't feeling like paying the import fees deposit on the latter).

Can they possibly get around this by claiming its a "home console" instead of a "portable console"? Might some simple wording like that adjust the licensing with some of these games?

I'd like to be an optimist, but I doubt PS TV will galvanize PSOne/PSP title availability or speed up QA... you know they want us to rent games for the price we currently buy them at, preferably multiple times. Einhander will finally come and probably be PS Now exclusive.

imo, Capcom only finally added Mega Man X4 and Strider 2 because they're in financial straits. I hope it forces Breath of Fire III to come through.

*old man yells at cloud*

so this seems like the best thread to ask this.
I just ordered a ps4 but it won't come with the power cord. Is there anything special about a ps4 power cord or can I order pretty much any cord that looks like

?

edit: nevermind found out I could just use my vita cord to make it work.

It's not outside the realm of possibility. Without access to any of the original agreements we're all just guessing. Licensing is a messy business. Something as simple as wording in some contracts that allows for downloading to PS3 and PSP systems with no clear exclusion of where it can be _played_ could explain, for example, why some games must be sideloaded from PS3 to fit the letter of the agreement. Whereas other contracts for some PSP games might specifically mention PSP as the only playable system.

We'll never really get an explanation for it. First, because in many ways it's a waste of breath as it would just stir the pot, but also because if they are 'skirting' around some agreements to get us sideloaded games, for example, they certainly aren't going to call attention to it by commenting on it to the press.

It's along the same lines why exploited games disappear without comment, and then reappear without comment. They aren't going to make a point of telling the world that there are exploits to be found in the first place. Heck, that could even explain some of the random game disappearances -- perhaps in house engineers found an exploit in some game or another that the scene didn't find yet.

You can replace the HDD in the PS3 though it would void the warranty.

RoF is such a great game. I got addicted in customizing your clothes.

Doesn't void the warranty. Sony even sell you a drive caddy to help you upgrade.

Forgotten about jet car stunts, thanks for reminding me. Will pick that up while being sad that europe doesn't get Strider PSOne.

Also excited for nidhogg next week - PS4 becoming quite the sofa multiolayer machine

Finally revisiting Rayman Legends on Vita... I platinum'd Origins on Vita in like a week or two around launch, but stalled out in Legends once I aced everything and had all the Origins remix lvls to do.

Totally forgot that the Invasion levels were patched in, and am having a lot of fun again. This game really was great.

Also, this port came out a shit ton better than Child of Light did, visually, imo.

That Miku engrish song is an anime Ending, right? I think i watched the series years ago but I can remember which one was.

How is Child of Light, by the way? And does it have a demo on psn?

I've found the source of that Miku song!

I think I liked that series when I watched it as a teenager. Don't remember much of it, just something, something, apocalypse, something, girls, something, fighting monsters, something.

Great. It's a mix of an atb rpg with platforming elements outside of battle. I had fun with it.

I barely touched it, and stopped after a few hours like I do with everything... it was fun, but didn't hook me. I'll go back to it eventually and probably love it.

Thanks to both of you!
