The Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire demo is a small demo that takes place in Mossdeep City and a nearby cave, perhaps Shoal Cave. This demo features a variety of battles and wild encounters and culminates in the accessing of a Mega Evolution which, as of September 2014, was said to never have been seen before (It is unknown if it was then shown in this month's CoroCoro).

The items you find in the demo, including the Mega Evolution, will be able to be transferred to the main Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire using the Pokémon Link feature.

Unlike most demos, this demo is distributed via special codes that can be redeemed on the Nintendo eShop. As such, many may not be able to receive it, so if you get multiple, why not share!

Yeah, I agree. Don't really see the point of doing it like that... at least the Smash and Tomodachi Life demos were later available for everyone. Think it's due to the Mega-Evolution you can then transfer to the full game.

Anyway, thanks for making the thread!

Now, I don't think we know whether the codes are region-locked, do we?

Question about these two.

1 - So if I go to a GAME store from the 15th I'll be able to get a demo code?

2 - By "Codes ran out on October 7th" does that mean they're not sending codes for Finland anymore?
 
Agreed. I mean while it may generate a sense of accomplishment if you get a code and make it more special, chances are that the ones who get codes would be buying the game anyway.
The ones you want - I guess - are the ones who are still not sure if it's worth it.

In some rares cases, yeah. For exemple, when Multi-5 isn't included (like Layton 5 and 6), using a French code on the UK eShop won't work, since the code is only for the French version.

But it's quite rare, and it's only for games where all languages aren't included.
 
This obsession Nintendo has with making us do inane things to try out a demo version of a game is infuriating. Just put it up on the eShop you indolent dinosaurs.

You should just have to bring your 3DS to Game and connect to there wifi.
 
Was scared it would be hard to get here in Sweden (Pokémon stuff often are for us who do not live anywhere near a GameStop, they keep hogging all the events) but just asking for a code from Bergsala was the optimal way they could have done it here, so happy! Should get a code on the 16th. Hype! :D

But I'm pretty angry at the whole limited thing too. Bad thing to do :/
 
In the UK, does anyone know what's going on with the codes that are being emailed out? Are they just randomly selecting people, or are they sending them to people who have pre-ordered the game(s) or something?

Wait you just send an e-mail to Bergsala for a code? I thought it would be released on the official homepage. I was hoping to get a code for my little sister. D:

Edit: I see the campaign has come and gone for my country. :(

I think that they are sending them out to anyone who have pre-ordered the games.

Couldn't agree more. I figured they wanted more people to try out the game so they would eventually buy it. Why make them jump through hoops for a demo? Doesn't really make sense to me.

Yesh, I don't get this one. How can you run out of codes that aren't printed? Just generate some more.
 
They really don't want to tell US members how to get theirs don't they? It's ok Nintendo I can stop playing smash for a bit to try out the demo.
 
Here's hoping everyone gets a chance to play it. I can't imagine they are putting such effort into an elaborate way to distribute codes when they could just toss it up on the eShop for everyone to play.

I mean seriously looking at some of those things up there the only way to to get in some places was to attend one specific fair or sign up for it a week ago.

Every other company in the world: "Demos are a really good opportunity to show fans of the series how a new entry plays, and to attract new customers"

Nintendo: "LOL you'll buy it anyway, maybe we'll let you play for half an hour if you tell us how much you love us"
 
Smyths have only started doing selling games online up until a few months ago and it was only limited until recently so I wonder who gets priority there. I get a lot of stuff from Amazon so I hope that I get one from there.

Do you get multiple codes similar to the Smash demo or is it just one?

It's ridiculous. It's about on par with Square Enix's hilarious paid prologue demos.
 
Shouldn't we just be able to spoof these Nintendo Zone distributions? I doubt I'll be able to grab a code otherwise. :S

On the swedish site they made a point of repeating "limited" from the beginning and that the thing would be open until the codes were all gone. So I guess they just had a finite amount of codes they were allowed to give out to keep it "limited" and "special". ;/
 
This is the first and only case of Nintendo making weird hoops you have to jump through to get a demo. Why are people acting like it's the norm? We literally just got Bayonetta 2 a few days ago on the eShop with nothing strange to the process

Well Smash started with giving codes to select people who could then share it, before going up on the eShop for everyone.

Tomodachi Life did something similar

I have heard that spoofing hasn't been working well since the system update.

Yeah, but the Smash codes were an early release for select Nintendo customers. It wasn't how the demo was given to everyone (which was just the normal way) and they explicitly said, it was special people getting to play the demo early
 
I can understand the distribution through magazines like CoroCoro for Japan, but come on, these limited code distributions everywhere else are just stupid.

Oh. Well that's disappointing. :s

I can't say I've ever tried to connect to the actual Nintendo Zone through spoofing though, I've only done it to grab Animal Crossing items in-game. I wonder if it would have even worked in the first place.

Uh, Smash 3DS. Between that and the weird policy of limited trials for existing demos, it's a bad series of precedents I think. Demos should entice people in, not create barriers to play. It's absurd.

I agree that it isn't a widespread problem yet; just worrying that it's the second time and might continue.

I say this as a Platinum CN member who got invited to the Smash 3DS demo right away. I still think it's shitty.
