PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Yeah where the fuck is Duke :( Maybe next Year with 1001 Spikes for us Euros -_-

Maybe 2016 if you're lucky haha Nicalis fucking suck. It's somewhat of a miracle that they're apparently delivering Binding of Isaac in November. And that's only because they're probably legally obliged to by Sony.

Come on Capcpom, confirm BoF 3 PSP as your upcoming release for late october if not next tuesday. GIMME MORE GAMEZ!

I would prefer the PSOne release of BoF3. I really kinda hate the PSP versions of PSOne games... FF Tactics and Symphony of the Night, anyway. The colors always look so washed out, and like it's been smoothed over with vaseline or something.

Plus, I like all the options on the PSOne emulator, and it would just slide in nicely next to BoF4 with them both being PS1.

...but yeah, I'm hoping this new, "oh shit we need money" Capcom dumps BoF3 soon. In one form or another.

Has anyone here played D&D on Ps3 yet? I was just playing and for some reason the Game kept freezing my Console while playing Online, no problems offline. I'm pretty sure that should not happen..

Too busy with midterms. I was thinking of buying SV, but I think I'm gonna pass. I won't have time to play until Freedom Wars drops, so I'll just wait until that one is out. I'll eventually buy SV I guess, just don't know when.

Everyone get Nidhogg I think I'll finally get it on Vita. That game is HYPE.
GET THAT DICK!

Yeah that is odd, it might help to contact Capcom about that.

Never :( But having a piece of hardware I can't play DooM on makes me antsy.

I think about playing DOOM on my Vita just about every time I think of the game. And I hate seeing the Crimsonland icon because all it does is remind me of DOOM... and what could have been.

Also, I got a PS4 recently. I have not owned a console (besides handhelds) literally since my Sega Genesis in the '80s. Thankfully I have a Vita for remote play so my wife and I don't have to fight over the TV... :)

EDIT: Also, what's up with the Duck Dynasty games? Do people really pay actual real-life currency for stuff like that? Does shovelware really still sell anymore? I'm interested in what the sales will be - either way I'm going to be laughing.

Buy Senran Kagura instead of Freedom Wars and wait for the inevitable expanded edition instead.

Hey, anyone know of a good capacitive touchscreen stylus that I could get for the Vita? I was comparing the pros and cons of getting Virtue's Last Reward on Vita or 3DS, and most people agreed Vita is best, but has awkward controls on the touch screen if you use your fingers. So, I've been checking around for what stylus I should get myself for the game. Best I've come up with is a Wacom Bamboo model, but I thought I might as well ask people's opinions around here in case someone had the same idea as me.

For my fellow Vita collectors interested in Minecraft:

Hopefully the US version is the same (even if it comes out after the digital release), but at least the EU release is confirmed to be an actual game card.

I know this is a 'non-answer', but just wanted to point out that I thought the touch controls for VLR were fine. In fact, I think they're great for every game on vita and couldn't imagine using a stylus. You may want to at least try it before buying something.

I'd have to agree with this, but if you need to get one then I guess any capacitive stylus will do the trick - just get one that feels right in your hand.

The touch controls in VLR are garbage, I don't know why they keep fucking them up when everything else using the touchscreen on the vita works perfectly. Even in 999 (with a stylus) they were bad.
There are issues only when taking notes though, for the rest of the game they're not as irritating.

Writing notes in-game is terrible. But everything else is fine.

Oh, yeah, taking notes is bad, I'll agree with that. Though I made it work for me and got the plat. I'd use a pencil and paper before I bought a stylus though.

So Vita pets...

I imported the retail release. It was great. Really relaxing and endearing... totally polished for what it is.

People are mean to it, but I forgive them.

I throw it in the same class as Smart As... another great game of it's type that people just write off at a glance.

Tbh I'm not eager on SV since I already played the Japanese version. Freedom Wars looks cool and I wanna be a part of it while the online community isn't completely dead.

SV I'll buy just to read up on the story bits that I didn't get from the JP version

I enjoyed Smart as for the most part.
...but man Vita Pets is 1.6 GB =/

I'm playing it for review but there's so much... unexplained. I want to play it but the weird "free to play" hooks are so obtrusive. I can't let the dog out because he can't pull the door open. He can only pull the door open if you buy the pulling toy. You can only buy the pulling toy if you play for long enough that you can earn enough "buddy" points to buy one.

Despite the fact that my dog is constantly telling me to spend money on the store...

As far as I can tell there's only two objects (food and water) that you can buy with money - everything else is buddy points right?

Oh... you're playing it? ignore what I edited out of this post

I'm gonna throw the game in and start a new dog, just to refresh my memory. I haven't played it since the month it came out.

checked: I remember now. You earn a certain level of buddy points to unlock things, then once an item is unlocked you can buy it with gold.

The basic tug toy unlocks at 500 buddy points, but is 10 gold to buy. To get 520 BP, I just in threw a ball til his fetch went to lvl 1, taught him to sit, pet him til he rolled over on his back, gave him some water... then when I checked the TV store, the basic tug toy was available for 10 gold. Get him to lvl 1 tug with that and he can open the door.

All right. Thanks for the answers, I wasn't asking this outright, but I was trying to also gauge people's own opinions on the controls in VLR, even without a stylus. It sounds like it may be alright to go without, although when I tried out the demo shortly after beating 999 a week ago, I felt the awkwardness of going without a stylus, since I was so used to it in 999 (DS version). There wasn't even a note taking feature in that game though, so people saying that taking notes is the only part that doesn't work well is reassuring I guess.

I might as well ask what your opinions though on the more central question, 3DS or Vita? I already know about the save glitch, which seems pretty debilitating, but I am worried about the one screen of the Vita getting cluttered compared to 3DS' two. The main reason I was thinking of getting a stylus was to get the "best of both worlds", but I think I might as well get some opinions here since I'm already asking about VLR.

Ok, so I do suck! :P

Edit: Just died for the second time on the "mid-boss" guy :|

It's not super hard for an SRPG, at least in the main story, but make sure you're always bringing a group of 10 fully equipped people, and that their equipment matches their class. Disgaea is very complicated, though not all the complexity is needed, but it can be easy to do some stupid stuff. Try and bring at least 2 healers and 3 mages is what I usually do, ranged healing + damage dealing is useful on almost all maps, and I have some melee units to get close and distract enemies. Don't forget you can grind, unlike certain SRPGs, and heal fully after every battle (it is ridiculous that the games still make you do this, it is so completely pointless)

Rereading this.

NEW Vita confirmed!! :0

Well, it wouldn't be a surprise to see another Sony handheld in Japan :); the thing isn't tanking there and many JP developers/publishers want to support it :D.

The thing is....will this possible 'Vita 2' come to NA and EU? Likely not sadly :(, as SCEA clearly shows they hate handhelds and SCEE seems to be in spot where they cant to that much (as Youshida is the one who decides which developers do what) so they are tying their best using the 3rd party team to round up indie developers to work in the thing alongside making bundles/memory card mega packs try to sell Vitas.
