No, because the WiiU has zero third party support while everyone knows that the overwhelming majority of third party games will be released on PC, PS4 and XB1.

What an exaggeration. There is competition, its just the Xbone is getting outsold every month in US/UK.
But yeah, Xbone is flat-lining in Europe and Japan. Maybe more firmware updates are needed...

I like how he listed Xbox One launch itlesand future titles for Microsoft, but only the white Playstation 4 Destiny Bundle for Sony as his argument for the overall systems' value.

PS4 and XB1 have, largely, the same lineup of games. They are directly comparable. Wii U has a fraction of the support that the PS4/XB1 have. It's not comparable.
One interesting point for me is the element of Destiny having performance parity.
So in this case consumers wanting the game were given option to get it for free with XB1 without having to accept any performance hit.
Although Sony did have exclusive maps for online, something that's proven a draw historically.
Nonetheless I wonder if the game being at parity eroded draw of PS4 version given price difference?

I don't think it's so much as parity, but rather the fact that the Halo audience is on Xbox.
From a consumer perspective, Sony betting on Destiny clearly only meant one thing, which was that Sony wanted that Halo audience.
However, just because Sony wants it doesn't mean they'll move over significantly, since Halo is still on Xbox and Destiny is multiplatfrom.

Hmmm so its the third party games that make a system good? Because all I keep seeing is people say once MS release their exclusives it will start selling more than the PS4, if its exclusives then the WiiU is currently the better console for that, if its multiplats then the PS4 is the go to console, the xbox one is the sitting in the middle not doing anything special in either at the moment.

Thread is a goldmine of quotes. Among my favourites are the posts implying that Sunset Overdrive is a reason to pick up an Xbox either in September or the next couple of months.
I'm sure it will be a quality title - but I feel it's safe to say that it will be a non event when we look back in a couple of years. I'd like to be wrong, and insomniac to reap some benefit for doing something unique. But I'm getting Fuse vibes all over again. Microsoft marketing machine will prevent it from being a complete disaster.
With regards to the actual thread, I'd like to believe that someone who is paid real dollars for developing insights and advising on investment strategy, is doing their research, due diligence and is keeping personal preference out of it. At this stage I'm not sure Pachter is doing this. He is either woefully ignorant to the reality of the market at the moment, poor at forecasting or really wants his pals at MS to chalk up a win off the back of some retail promotions.
I have no idea which of these it is, and I'll be very surprised if he is correct.

But I know what you mean - I'd actually think if the PS4 was getting outsold 2:1 it would lead to a gen of less games like wILD, Trine, Bloodborne, The Tomorrow Children, No Man's Sky and one where there's more a focus on titles like Titanfall, first-person shooters and big cinematic experiences like Ryse from 3rd party devs. The latter is not something that is good.

Spyro sold very well. Ratchet and Clank still sells as well so no they are not the Western Platinum.
Insomniac used to be my favourite studio (hard to believe that now) but after stuff like Fuse, Resistance and the recent RC games its hard to see why I did do that. I hope the new RC brings the series back to its best form.

Competition is a great thing. Ps4 is doing well, while Microsoft and Nintendo are practically giving consoles away by comparison. That's the reality of real competition. If Microsoft and Nintendo were doing equally as well, consumers would be worse off because there would be no urgency to move consoles like their has been this year.

different generation (I know cop out) but back then there was not the acceptance of giving consumers almost Early Access games...
lets be honest in todays generation both parties are as guilty as sin to shipping unfinished products (Early Access)
back in those days you bought the disc and it had to work, there was not option to patch, no option of after market promises.... it simply had to work and had to work well, perfect... so the pressure was off to a certain extent, they could do these games to their timeframe as they could not release after market solutions
I can almost guarantee if that was to happen today it would no be remembered so fondly, because the infrastructure was/is completely different
it is like saying why did so many more people die before penicillin was discovered.

No that's playing second base. Surrendering brand priority. The urgency is always there, the closer the competitors, the higher the effort. A marathon runner won't aim for first from the back of the pack, he'll build his own personal success. The top runners whom are close together will push harder the closer they are and near the finish line.

Price matching? I can walk into JB Hifi tomorrow, and pick up an Xbox One for $100 less, and it comes with more games bundled. That's not even a great special - just an everyday bundle.
Keeping in mind that it launched $50-100 more expensive with nothing... Then yes, by comparison I stand by what I said even if it exaggerated.
I really hope this wasn't sarcasm. Because Microsoft is killing it with firmware updates and supporting the console/os, as well as bringing great games (FH2, MCC, etc.).
PSN & the PS4 OS meanwhile are incredibly basic. Driveclub servers are still shit. Hell, Plus users can't even download the game yet because Evolution is trying to fix the servers/prevent an overload of new users.
I don't own a Xbox One. I own a PS4. But I know where Sony is dropping the ball and where Microsoft is picking it up and running with it.

Nice in theory, but I feel that PS2 generation was great for me as a consumer. I bought an Xbox a few months after it came out for nearly half the price and with a whole bunch of games.
