Halo MCC: Halo CE footage in 1080p/60fps - IGN First

If I didn't have a wife and kid this would be one of my most anticipated titles...I've played halo 1-3 multi waaaay too much but I just don't have time for multi anymore...I'm a single player story guy now...game looks great though!!

Graduated with 3.4 gpa, GF is getting the Sunset Overdrive Xbox One.

My gf is getting the SO bundle too! Currently holding a 3.4 as well, let's see if it can stay that way. Only two more semesters but with all the GOTY material games coming out between now and May, I might be fucked.

I remember back in 2002 when XBL was announced and how depressed I was that CE would not be on XBL. XBC was barely passable back in the day. Man, the shit we all used to put up with just to play this masterpiece online...spoiled kids today don't know what lag really is.

12 fucking years I've been waiting for this. Words couldn't express how ferociously pissed off I was back in 2011 when CE's MP was butchered into a Reach map pack. In hindsight, this turned out better than I could have ever hoped.

Can not wait for Sunset Overdrive and the Master Chief Collection. Been itching to get some game time with my X1.

Blood Gulch map brings back so many fond memories of me playing the Halo CE demo on PC over and over again. I believe people still play it to this day... yes the DEMO.

Also, is that Halo 1 Anniversary edition up-res'd at 60fps?

Yep. Campaign will be H2A upped to 60fps/1080p and you can switch back and forth from anniversary to classic instantly. Multiplayer will be classic only (supposedly it's an updated version of the PC build).
 
so pumped, here my impressions

pro:
- no zoom blur in the zoom (sniper, pistol, rocket,...)
- aim assistant seems to be just as low as on the original game, perfect!
- no Banshee or Tank in Bloodgulch!
- game looks beautiful, even the non Anniversary look
- Custom Edition Names above the players

negative:
- sniper reticule is a way too large
- no more pre-aim (might be LAN gameplay though)

I didn't see the Banshee in Blood Gulch like the PC version.

Thank gosh for that and needless to say I'm buying an Xbox One just for this collection.
 
OG Halo looks good, but resolution/framerate bump aside, I remember it looking a bit different with more shiny and embossed-looking shader effects spread across the large expanses of flat geometry. Is this was someone was talking about when they lamented the version being converted was based upon the PC edition, which looked different? Does this mean the nice uniform detail texturing of the OG Xbox edition is also gone, because IIRC, the PC edition dropped those, too. Looks great otherwise and I think I'll actually dig the Anniversary look in campaign this time as opposed to it coming across a little weird compared to the old look. No S3D modes...when has there been a single X1 title that did S3D so far? Zen continues to make their pinball games keep it exclusive to Sony platforms, but I have a hard time believing it's a technical hurdle.

I remember contemplating XBC to play this, but my cousin warned me off because of the lag... Its all good now though! and what's better, is with halo 5 next year,I've got years of halo ahead of me
 
Oh god. I want it bad. I can't justify it or afford it.

I keep telling myself to either wait for an X1 hardware revision at a cheaper price, or wait a couple of years hoping for a PC port.
 
It looks so beautiful. Totally worth blowing all my money on an XBONE. I won't even care when they port it to PC, I must support this wonderful thing with as much money as possible.
 
Looks like it's definitely based on the PC version, judging by the teleporter shaders.

One thing I noticed, though...The Spartans' energy shields seem to be broken. Hopefully they are fixed before release

You're right. Those are the crappy PC teleporters. Were there reflections on the flagpole or the AR? Hard to tell, all quick shots in the dark, but it looked like those were also missing. Those are more telltale signs of the PC version.

The only things that looks particularly xboxy are the spartan colors. Deeper/fuller on the xbox than they were on PC. Can definitely tell when comparing the reds and blues of each version.

Not sure why you guys were expecting the Xbox version when it's pretty clearly a straight port of HCEA.

The multiplayer is a new addition that was not there in HCEA which is what we are commenting on. Frankie made it pretty clear they were going for Xbox version as much as possible so that's why we're pointing out that it's largely the PC version. Not that it really breaks my heart or anything, I still play Halo PC all the time to this day.
 
Anybody know what the deal is with SplitScreen for the games in the MCC?

Might be the deciding factor for me on an XB1+This

Yes, but I don't know if its possible in the XB1 version due to H2A not being allowed to do that

I think all the audio in CEA was a menu option and wasn't tied to flipping the engines with the button due to the limitations of the 360. It might be the same here but we haven't heard yet.
