Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

At the end of the day you were just paying for uniformity and online play which is pathetic to justify imo. Psn "got the job done with little inconvenience and was free. You've missed or ignored my entire point which was every paid service has issues period. It's not embarrassing or pathetic, it's life and you move on. It's inconvenient but shit, talk about entitlement.

The only point you've been able to muster is dumb comparisons and hand waving.

Can we have some skeletons sitting somewhere waiting for the Driveclub psn free edition???

I got the game but before opening it, I was able to borrow a disc from my friend, I tried the game, and returned the disc, very happy to have not spent the $60, I don't think its worth the money at least right now.

The AI is just horrible right now, they would end up coming next to you then around a corner bang you out, If my G27 worked, I might have kept the disc and see how it felt driving on a wheel.

Serious question, do you get angry if the product/service is not available 24/7/365? Cars breakdown and have to go in for work once in a while. Things do break or need to be maintained. The DC launch does suck, but Im not storming Sony HQ with torches and pitchforks because Im not getting my promised free copy right now. They need to get their shit working for the customers that bought the game. We will eventually get our PS+ version of DC.

For those that got ps+ only DC, let this be a lesson to you. Don't buy product A that is a prerequisite for product B until you can actually buy/receive product B. Shit happens and things get delayed.

If I paid a monthly service that entitled me access to a car on October 7th, I'd be pissed if they told me on the day I should get it that they can't give me the car at the moment because it is busted.

But they never said that it would be available the same day on October 7th. The only thing they did that was close to that was include it in the PS blog post the week before. Its not like this was something they were promising left and right for October 7th.

They initially marketed it for a full 3 months to be available at launch of the PS4, only announcing a vague delay a month before launch.

They then set a new release date in April.

Never once indicating that PS+ edition would come out at a different date, and making repeated implications it would.. then outright saying it would.

The lack of "middle ground" convo here is sort of nuts.. it's either people irrationally angry or people irrationally defending.

Sony has been selling PS+ subscriptions w/ Drive Club PS+ marketing for over a year now.. let's not pretend they haven't.. "well technically they didn't PROMISE you anything, I mean LEGALLY they can never release it".. this is anti-consumer nonsense and it is all over this thread.

It's not worthy of a law suit, but it's pretty crazy that it's not considered "nearly objectively poor service" to do this. How poor you think it is should be the convo, not "well they don't have to give you anything, FINE PRINT!"

So owning all three consoles I'm on the fence between DC and FH2. I'm leaning towards FH2 because it just looks much more vibrant and colorful, while what I've seen of DC looks dreary.

Anyways I thought I'd watch some footage of people playing DC on PS Live. I sat for probably a good 10 minutes watching a guy continuously get failure messages everytime he tried to get into a game. That alone made up my mind.
It's a shame that after the delay they still bungled the launch of the game. I hope they figure everything out and get this game back on track, but this is quite a mess.

I never intended to play the free version, I always had the full version pre-ordered. It's unfortunate that many wanted to simply get the demo and not the full thing as I've been having such a great time with the game. The graphics are simply breath taking, and the driving mechanics have a great depth to them despite being arcade-like and approachable. Anyone on the fence is best served buying the game and seeing for themselves.

This is literally the worst advice I have ever read on this forum. It's impressive how terrible it is. Anybody on the fence should just buy it? Especially when (A) we know it's broken and (B) there's a trial version coming?

Sony has been saying for over a year that the PS+ edition of Driveclub would be available the same day as the release of the game.

The game is not very good. Played at a friends house last night and was thoroughly let down.
Forza Horizon 2 destroys this garbage of a racer and the rumoured Project Gotham will do the same.
Bring on GT7.

Seriously, like, Driveclub doesn't even have like, OPEN WORLD BRO.

Im not objectively defending Evo or Sony right now, but Im not reacting like they defecated in my mouth either. The free game will come, but they need to get it working for the people that bought the game first. It sucks, but its far from the worst thing in the world. At least single player is playable now, unlike SimCity.

If I had bought the game and been unable to play it at all, especially a week out, then I be pissed and be asking for a refund.

This is simply an outright falsehood. They may have never given the actual date, but they widely and broadly advertised the PS+ edition coming out simultaneously with the actual game.

Agreed, and Sony was selling this big last year as a softener for mandatory subscription to play online.. but when it comes time to pay up, ever after a 12 month delay, silence..
Personally, had the plus edition released on time and provided its good, i'd have bought the full upgrade by now.. the whole thing stinks.

dang their store is pretty buggy. 3 spelunkys and 2 rainbow moons.. some say free some say save up to 100%. cant stand sony and their websites and their web browsers (vita has the worst)

other than that...i hope at least a lot more people bought driveclub now that you cant get it for free

You do know that those are all for different platforms, right?

That's the "Free Games" section of the store. Many times you'll see PSVita, PS3 and PS4 versions of the game there as part of the PS Plus free games of the month. You purchase one of those and then all of them show as purchased.

It does suck.. and yeah, it's far from the worst thing in the world.

It's just bizarre to see people basically claim they should have had zero expectation of playing the PS+ version on October 7th.. which also completely ignores that Sony already heavily marketed this last Summer.. to record PS+ sales I might add.

I think many people over-valued Sony's promise of this PS+ edition.. but Sony and Evo let them do it, and continued to make vague statements that fed the flames of desire for this game right up until they vaguely delayed it mid-October.

Granted they've also created a very generous service with PS+, but they still are responsible for expectation setting.

What about didn't you like? And what about Horizon 2 did you feel 'destroyed' DC?

No need to try and dismiss his opinion with silliness.

Well I purchased the full version about a week ago and have never had the server connect once!

Half my menu options are greyed out,so up to now I like many others only got half the game. Lucky I own the other good race game because after waiting a year for the Sony one it's a very poor show.
Man I thought Sony touted the PS4 as an offline console without check-ins, that's not OK.

Dude Driveclub doesn't even have a track that takes longer than 3-4minutes to do a lap from what i have seen....A complete joke seeming as though even GT4 on PS2 had the Nurburgring which takes around 6-8 minutes to do a single lap if you are skilled.
Only reason DC went to PS+ is because either Sony or Evo knew the game was going to flop.

Almost every reviewr. I'm not saying the game seems bad, bucause it seems good! Just too little to risk 50 dollars, specially at the present circunstances.

Man I don't know. I can see myself play this for hours. With all these challenges and club events it reminds me of SSX. Definitely replayability.

Uh...How 'bout no. Are you high?

I think the compensation should be this:

Make the game $30 for PS+ users for the first full week after the PS+ version comes out.

That's.. a bit much.

It's a $10 / month service max... that delivered at least part of it's value this month, and we don't know how long the PS+ version will take to come out.

Even if someone wasted an entire month waiting, a $20 discount on a $10 service? And most people play less than $5 a month.

Make it $44.99 or something... demanding $20 off of the game is a bit ridiculous.

I bit the bullet and purchases the full version, made easier with the ps+ discount.

One of the best purchases i made so far. Its one of the few games my gf asks to play (shocker!), and that is likely thanks to how damn pretty the locations are. It is my favorite thing about the game too. And playing around with the time of day cycle at x60.

I only had limited time online so far one evening, but i know it will be awesome when stable.

I did the same, with some regret while hitting confirm purchase, but I'm completely happy with it.

I wasn't floored until I did this race for the first time.

I can't belive people are trying to defend Sony on this, they clearly promised something that they have failed to deliver on. People have the right to complain about a perk/product they where promised as a part of the psplus package.

DriveClub bad cuz no long tracks....

DriveClub is the best racer since MotorStorm Pacific Rift. Evo knows how to make games.

I can defend them as far as "shit happens, fine, just sort it out and get it to us as soon as you can, thanks." The tones of some that act as if we are being audacious for being disappointed/frustrated/whatever and in some cases that they don't even have to give it to us is insane though, even if I feel EXTREME anger/frustration is kind of crazy too.

It's been one year since the "Perfect Day" ad launched on Oct. 15, 2013 featuring what is clearly Driveclub.

If someone had asked me then if I thought that Driveclub retail would not release till one year later, that the servers would have issues when it did release (given Sony had time and money to get that right), and that Sony would delay the release of the PS+ version (which I remember someone saying, onstage, that people would be able to play and try for themselves...which is a bit moot at this point)...

I would have called this a "worst case scenario" for Sony in the 'marketing expectations' versus 'what's actually delivered' department.

Now, all I can really say is, 'not good Sony, not good.'

I still cannot fathom how this deal isn't up yet.

Part of me is starting to believe that Sony is doing this intentionally to help drive retail sales.

Of course it does, you don't have to go very deep in the game to find one. Cayoosh Trials is like the third challenge on the tour, how much have you played?
