Fighting Games Weekly | Oct 13-19 | The World Ends Ryu

so i was browsing SteamDB and noticed this change for SFxT from 10 hours ago:
it appears to be a Steam transition for the game, since now there's graph data for player activity: https://steamdb.info/app/209120/graphs/
which wouldn't draw info from outside of Steam
Nice. I'll buy SFxT on Steam if they transition the netcode over to Steamworks.
...at 75% off of course. :P

Also, back when I played Yugioh none of the cards you guys mentioned were banned. They were just restricted to one copy each. lol

Those that enzo linked. "Glorified chat threads" followed by a mod response.

the writing is on the wall

I'm more concerned about tourney OTs, tbh. Those actually ARE like chatrooms once the action starts.
That's not to say I think the idea of Weekly news threads is safe, mind. It's presumptuous to think they're safe - if changes are coming, they'll probably be spread all over the board.

Arcana Heart

UMVC3 H&H edition

Ah, so bad games. Now I see why they don't do it often

I guess there's the argument that we're a news thread

But that's also a lie
The past weekend of "there are 10 billion tournament streams going on" pretty much explained why the thread exists- was way better to have discussion condensed than to spread it among 5+ dead threads.

Wish Yomi was on Steam with local versus, it's a great game that I want to play with friends. Can't justify importing the physical cards though.

Well, that's people talking about a real event as it happens, and in a short timespan, so I think/hope that's fine.

I don't know what these people get out of railing against what happens in other threads, though. :/

Hey PC guys, we fixed your USF4 netcode! We were trying too hard to make it not laggy before, so we made it so it could be more laggy.

If no one stays on topic, then I can't do anything. This is why I've said it a million times.

This should be stickied as the second post in every FGW OT.

Though as a community I feel like we do an excellent job staying on topic for fighting games.

Inevitably we'll go off track as is the nature of any large group discussion but it usually doesn't last too long.

USF4 netcode fix is a fucking lie.

As expected from fucking Capcom.

Oh great. I'm not at home but I can only assume that it's just as bad.

Do people still think Community is somehow worse than Gaming/Off-Topic?

People have this desire to be visible

Even the more insular mega threads like two best friends and giant bomb

For folks wanting to know exactly what is up with the USF4 PC version now:

1) There is now far less Waiting For Opponents message spam and stutter in general.
2) However, the "fix" for this was to simply make it harder for those messages to pop up - i.e. they made the game more willing to lag before it throws a red flag and tries to sort out the connection.
3) When searching for lobbies, the game will freeze several times.

There has been no netcode fix. There has been a number modified in the netcode to make the game happier about the lag. And there are now new issues to make online on PC even more unpleasent than it was pre-patch - issues that were in the PC Beta and widely reported.

Sometimes off topic discussion wheels back into fighting games and it's pretty cool when that happens

Lovely. Not lovely. :(

This right here.

The lag is still there it's just different. It's hard to describe but in no way did I feel this patch was a net improvement for the game in terms of netcode.

I don't see it as a big deal either being in community.

Tournament/Events get their own threads in Gaming when they happen. Just stick a link in the OP of those pages to go to the FG Community thread if you enjoyed your stay.

God damnit. I regret buying the PC version ahead of time assuming it would be good.

I hate to say it, but I miss PC's gfwl netcode.
