I really love the look of the Nexus 6, while the thing does look huge I would definitely sell my iPhone 5 and buy an N6... that price though. Being in Australia I'm guessing we'll be getting charged something like $800AUD for the 32GB model. That's a lot more than I was hoping for.

With this kind of premium, that camera better be a good one. Everything else looks fantastic, but Google/Motorola really need that camera to at least be good for me to really consider taking the plunge. While I'm not the biggest user of mobile photography, I just can't justify spending that kind of coin on a phone with an average camera. The inclusion of OIS is a good sign I suppose.

The phone looks way better in those pics than the leaked pic. Still, I'm gonna skip this one and get the Nexus 7, my 5 still works great.

Oh well. At least I'll get my N4 Lollipop to play around with.

Holy hell, 650? That's bull shit man. I got the N4 through t-mobile for 250. I wonder how low it'll be if I grab it through them.

I'm sad about the price.

$650+ Tmo no longer discounts or subsidizes phones, you pay full unlocked retail. They will finance it over 24 months though, so it'd probably be $27 for 24 months.

If you're on the fence between a N6 and iPhone 6 plus because of the camera, go with the latter. L has a lot of useful camera related software features but google and Motorola haven't shown that they can compete with Apple in utilizing good photo processing algorithms.

You do get more storage on the base model for $100 less on the nexus though.

Just as I thought, AMOLED...wonder who is producing the screen (LG or Samsung)

Who is making the phone?

edit: nvm, i see the giant M logo on the back, lol

Hate this tagline. It's a tagline pointed right at apple. It's more samsung than samsung.

Be together is nice. Not the same just ends it on a negative note. Also the and___ mechanic is odd since it ends with and ROID.

Just all odd, the Chromebook ads were better at this.

Maybe they're just talking about individuality? In any case, why should we care? These are multi-billion dollar corporations we're talking about. I'm sure Tim Cook is drying his tears with 100 dollar bills.

I'm still laughing/shocked at $650.

Well the ad and tagline is made to inspire the person watching it, and invite them in to be a part of the Android world.

To me, they have the viewer until they end on "not the same." It gives me the same reaction as if they said "We've poured our hearts into this, we think it's beautiful, we think you'll have the best experience tailored for YOU individually with us AND YOU WON'T BE ONE OF THOSE SHEEP OVER THERE WITH NO CHOICE LOL"

Then again I work in advertising so I look at this at another layer than the average consumer watching. I think the first line is elegant and aspiring and the other is a party pooper.

Sticking with Nexus 5. Camera aside, I love it and see no reason to upgrade. Looks like it's finally time to buy a tablet, though! Santa notified.

Invites are easy to get. I've given out over 10 invites in the invite thread.

The invite system is an awful idea no matter how "easy" anyone claims it is. Their idea to make an exclusive product while avoiding over production back fired. Instead, they couldn't meet demand and pissed off a lot of potential customers. It's a dumb way to do business. You can't expect consumers to be loyal, especially before even buying your shit. Folks will just get fed up and settle for something else.

$650?!?!? So much for the affordability of the Nexus line of phones. I was debating getting the N6 but the size was a bit of a turnoff, and now with that price tag I'll definitely be sticking with the N5 for the time being.

£400 is my guess. Would be too crazy having it at £500+.

Can't seeing it being £400. Doing a direct currency conversion puts it at £407 before VAT being added.

I'm thinking very minimum £450.

Only the N4 and N5 were cheap. The N1, NS and GN were expensive phones.

How long until nexus 5 gets a price drop? I think I would rather just buy that now. Sucks that I waited months because of new hardware and the new hardware is way to big and way to expensive.

Edit: The google play store doesn't even have any 5's for sale lol. Le sigh

LOL at people complaining about the price when an out of contract 16GB iPhone 6 Plus costs $750.

That's the point, being in that price bracket is what set them apart from Apple. I really don't get why they think trying to compete at this level is a good idea.

The specs look identical. Which is fine, it's still a pretty great device. Not like it's gonna have any trouble running stuff in the next few years.
It would be great if owners could spend less of that time tethered to a charger though. At least a bump to an 801 would've been helpful.

The price isn't ludicrously expensive for a big phone, it's ludicrously expensive for a Nexus phone. Its major advantage is now gone (aside from day one updates), making pretty much any other phone just as, if not more tempting.

I have a Nexus 4. Skipped the 5 to wait for the 6, now I'm contemplating a Z3 or G3.

This is not entirely accurate.

N1 and S were both $529, which was definitely on the lower end of off-contract pricing for phones at the time. Still expensive, yes, but definitely on the lower end for other devices at the time.

Galaxy Nexus was $400 when it finally hit the Play Store. It was only expensive in the US due to the Verizon exclusivity. I don't know about the rest of world.

I really do think that Google is keeping the 5 and we'll get an updated version next year. I think they're probably just adding a high-end phablet to the overall device lineup.

Whether or not the next Nexus 5 stays cheap - well, that's certainly up for debate.

The Nexus 9 comes with a cutting edge chipset from Nvidia not yet seen in any device in the world to date.

Trust me. The N9 at least in Android land is going to be a tech marvel. Wait till you see Anandtech do a review of this thing. Benchmarks are going to be the stuff of legends.

I had guessed £450 but edited my post down to £400.

Giving Google too much credit maybe :lol

Honestly, it's probably the only new thing they announced that has a price to fit the quality and whatnot of the device.

"Android 5.0 Lollipop, which comes on Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, will also be available on Nexus 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks."

And suddenly, millions of Nexus 4 users cried out...

That's fucked up. The Nexus 7 is essentially a Nexus 4 with a bigger screen.

now fixed on the official post, too:

Android 5.0 Lollipop, which comes on Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, will also be available on Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks.

Thank you Google.

OK. That makes more sense.

It's also not true. Read the thread, the N4 is getting L. It not being included was a mistake that has since been fixed.

The N6 is a flagship phone and it makes sense that it will be priced as such.

So was the N5 at release. Perhaps not if "flagship" means that every single component has to be the best you can get (the N5 has average battery and camera), but overall it was very high-end.
