Nearly 5 hours of Lords of the Fallen footage via Lobos (Dark Souls Streamer)

Two weeks away? Not very likely.

While that is kind of not great, it's probably near the bottom of my list of things that I care about for games of this type. Combat and level design are of peak importance, almost everything else is just a bonus for me.

Come on people! :(

That looks really fun. This actually wasn't even on my list of possible pick-ups, but this video might of changed that.

Not gonna watch to avoid spoilers but I already know I want this game based on the preview stuff I've seen.

I made it about 1/3 through DS2 and just lost interest :(

Skipped around, visually it looks kind of how I wish Dark Souls 2 looked. Not quite sold yet though.

I just watched a few minutes of this. I'm all but convinced, I should admit to myself that I'm probably buying it at launch.
All but convinced, yet you're buying it at launch :3?

As a souls fan I think this looks awful. Can't stand the artstyle and the combat seems dull and shallow. Is there any form of multiplayer in this?

I am mildly interested in this, but at the moment I'd rather wait for Bloodborne than play a DS copy, especially if there is no PVP.

It looks like great fun, it's nice to see other developers taking a swing at the dark souls type gameplay because more of those games isn't a bad thing.

Console is 30fps.

Been hyped for this for a long time now and the hate here on GAF has been frustrating to deal with (mostly because of their reasoning: Dark Souls copy? IT SUCKS!).

I'm soooo pleased to see how many people seemed to have opened their eyes for this now that it's reaching its release.

I can already sense it: Demons > DkS2 > Lords > DkS

HYPE!!!

Wait, WHAT!!?!?! Link? This is HUGE if true...

If this game has the Yoshichan seal of approval, it will be on my watch-list.

As a big Souls fan, this seems like a nice way to ease the pain of waiting for Bloodborne.

Combat looks fun, and I like the environments, texturework, effects, and overall art design, but good god is that some awful voice acting and actor animation (in cutscenes). Honestly, tho, it kinda looks like a cross between dark souls and darksiders, so I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

How are the levels designed?
This doesn''t look like it has the open world Metroidvania type design like with the Dark Souls games.

The dev interviews mentioned that the level design is indeed metroidvania-like. Not sure if a demo with a single area is the best way to deduce that though.

By the way, I dig the art style a lot. It looks very busy and kind of like Warhammer.

I can already sense it: Demons > DkS2 > Lords > DkS

This is exponentially more offensive than the recently revealed Hatred.

DkS is my GOAT. Lords just looks off to me; floaty, unpolished and flat. Then there's the fact that, mechanics aside, everything else seems very cookie-cutter.

If you're going to so rigidly "borrow" from a series such as Souls, you're really opening yourself up to that extra degree of scrutiny.

I'd say stuff like that is hard to tell from videos, and I trust in Lobos. He said he enjoyed it and will play the full game, so I'll also give it a shot.

From one hand i really want to like this game because the gameplay looks like something right up my alley but then i watch some more footage and realize how much i hate the main character stereotype. He's basically the epitome of what i hate the most in modern video game character design.

Did they really? For some reason I thought it was much more linear in nature if not level-based.

The combat looks surprisingly competent.
Mixed feelings about the general art direction. There are details in the game (like some specific animations, especially from bosses) that look incredibly good, others very underwhelming.
Not a fan of the general armor design, but that doesn't come as a surprise. The direction was clear since the first trailers and screenshots.

On a personal note, I have to confirm my dislike for everything I've seen so far about the rogue build. I think I'll go with a cleric hammer and shield for this one. The game (and the main character's physical structure) seems to deliver the sense of weight of heavy weapons far better and in a more convincing way than it does with fast blades/daggers.

Dark Souls vs. Dark Souls 2 is irrelevant, this is about Lords of the Fallen. It's clearly heavily inspired by the souls series, and judging by the parts of the video I watched, it seems to contain enough depth in its combat to satisfy Soul's fans, myself in particular. Despite what some would consider a generic art-style, I hope people will look past that and give this new IP its fair shake. Not every game has to be hyped to hell to be a solid experience, in most cases those games disappoint. I haven't seen a lot of people really show interest in this game, it's almost destined to fail in sales due to many factors, but I hope this will at least end up a hidden gem like Demon's Souls had.

im probably in. this looks very solid for a first try at this type of game and id like to support that, think how awesome a sequel can be if this does well. hopefully theres a gmg coupon for it

I'd be lying if I said this doesn't just look freaking amazing.

It scratches my souls itch.

But at the same time I don't wanna feel burnt out by souls-style gameplay when BloodBorne comes out.

I know its a weird way of thinking but I like to make mental room for games I am highly anticipating.

That video totally sold me the game.

Day 1.

fuck, i feel the same way. At first i wanted Shadow of mordor, but i decided to pass on that last minute... also passed on destiny... so far my hopes are in this and dragon age inquisistion for this year.

this looks REALLY stellar, which weren't my impressions when they kept playing as that "mage" class.

What worries me about this is the comparisons to Dark Souls difficulty-wise. I didn't like what I played of DS.

apparently this is more accessible and a more story driven game... i mean i love the dark souls games, but this game seems like a nice change of pace. Definitely more story and less demanding gameplay is something i can get excited for after dark souls and demon's souls.

Someone's predicted quality of a future game, a game you have never even played, offends you.
