Quick update on my health problems:

I'm going to finish my treatment. I got a lot of support from WhereAreMahDragonz and she convinced me to get help. So I'm seeing a therapist to help with my emotional health during this time. And I've also hired someone to come to my place (a health worker to help me with my physical tasks). So a lot of my problems are now being addressed.

I haven't felt this good in an entire year. I'm 100% confident I will beat this disease! I can't thank WhereAreMahDragonz enough and everyone else in this thread (especially those like Kinvara and Toa TAK for checking up on me). Sorry for interrupting the episode talk. Just figured I would let you all know I'm going to make it to the end of this show and much long after! :)

At the expense of sounding "ageist", I know quite a few older people in my family that have basically reverted to a more "child-like innocence" as they've continued to age. Probably comes with the lack of pressure and what not. I thought Toph would be more serious also, but honestly it makes more sense for her to revert to who she really was after being in isolation for years.

-Totally agree. Thinking about it now feels strange. She called Aang Twinkletoes in one of the flashbacks but it wasn't nearly as Toph-ish as this portrayal of her. Maybe in her seniority she said "fuck it" and went back to not giving a shit? Who knows.

She sort of touched on that in the episode? I see where you guys are coming from though, and I kind of agree. Wasnt a huge issue for me though.

Great to hear! :) :)

It wasnt a huge complaint. I think logically it can explained by her getting back her roots after walking the earth. It just felt on a tiny level like this charcater came back from ATLA 100% as she used to be. When every other character from ATLA changed as they got older. It felt just a tad strange. Like I was 1:1 seeing young Toph again on screen. That's all I meant.

And it felt a bit strange too since police chief Toph seemed different. But again I can accept her walking the earth and giving up responsibility allowed her to get in touch with herself.

That's interesting and makes sense. You've already lived a hard life of work and pressure, so at that point in your life you don't have to put up with shit.

Im so happy for you.

I wish I could hug you

Whats the likelihood of the Red Lotus playing a part on Book 4? What could they do?

I think Korra will visit Zaheer at some point. Basing that off the trailer for the season
. But beyond that I don't think they will play a part at all. Unless the creators said so in an interview. I think they will get swept under like the equalists.

Yeeeaaahh! That's what I want to hear!

-I felt that the Wu segments dragged on, but someone posted somewhere (here I think) that Wu is obviously going to get his shit together and become King when Kuvira goes down. That many scenes (more than Eska/Desna throughout the whole series) of Wu obviously are going somewhere.

-Same here. Let's hope Wu becomes a different sort of King that also redefines the meaning of the title (holy shit we're setting him up here).

-Classic Bolin!

I could see your point about Wu. I guess I was a little forgiving because I find him funny. But if they don't redeem him and make him a big player in the story...then these plot points will feel like a waste. Especially when Korra + Kuvira stuff is way more interesting and feels more important. I still think the episode had good structure and did a good job balancing various plot elements especially when you compare it to Book 2 which was much worse at that. But I can see your points on the Wu plot being long.

I could have sworn there was something said about the Red Lotus's relevancy in book 4? I thought they said they'd play a role?

Enjoyed the episode a lot.

All of the Korra/Toph stuff was top notch (as were all the character interactions really), but I will agree it wasn't the most exciting of episodes. That's OK though, sometimes a slow episode can benefit the season as a whole. Personally I think Book 4 is 3 for 3 so far and is basically shaping up to be what Book 2 SHOULD have been (politics, dictator stuff etc but actually INTERESTING.).

Really looking forward to next week's ep.

Not a huge issue, its just that we'll never get to see more of that side of her. Maybe if she meets up with Lin and Su (WHICH BETTER HAPPEN DAMMIT).

Oh no argument there, this is angelic compared to Book 2.

Just saw this, made my day. You're awesome :)

Yeah I couldn't keep up with the interviews. I think technically the seasons are connected by Zaheers actions carrying over with Kuvira taking over. I'm not sure if they ever said the Red Lotus itself would be a player in the plot. Then again I think they also said
Zaheer wouldn't play a role this season. But in the trailer it looks like Korra visits a White Lotus jail. So I assume she'll talk to Zaheer. But that's just an assumption.

But maybe they said they would be a factor in this seasons plot. If so I wonder if it will be major.

Thanks. But it's really people like WhereAreMahDragonz, Toa TAK and Kinvara that are awesome. And everyone in this thread. Everyone that steps in to help someone in their time of need. You guys are awesome. You've kept me alive.

MahDragonz total MVP.

Edit: I talk to Tuck on skype. So I don't mention him here because he already knows. But just wanted everyone to know Tuck has been a really kind person who has been helping me a long time (even with non cancer stuff).

Yeah I remember them for SURE saying that
Zaheer wouldn't play a role, or just be very minor
but I also think I remember them talking about the Red Lotus in general playing a role, and I think it'd make perfect sense. Kuvira's plight is like the anti Red Lotus.

Interesting. I'm sure Hamlet can set the record straight. Hamlet is on top of all the Interview stuff. I'd be curious if Red Lotus is going to play a big part. We know their philosophy is anti-governance. So surely they must oppose everything Kuvira stands for.

I feel like i'm wrong because no one else has ever acknowledged recalling that being said in an interview but me.

Toph's comments about Su not really getting metalbending make me think her or/and Kuvira are going to unleash some crazy powerful metalbending stuff at some point.

Like, Magneto at the end of DOFP level shit.

its not bataar jr. its just bataar now, mom

I can never remember his name so from now on I'm just referring to him as Flynn.

Also that's great to hear Azula.

I mostly lurk on this thread (I do watch the show, just don't post about it that much), but I wanted to say that this is completely awesome. Good for you, you've got this.

In the ign interview mike and Bryan did a while back, they said that Zaheer is no longer the villain but specifically said the red lotus will have a role in book 4.

That, plus the shot in the trailer that looked like a secluded monastery with white lotus guards, leads me to believe Korra will seek out Zaheer in order to make peace with the trauma he caused her.

Or she'll want the secret to spiritual enlightenment, either or.

Also, the writers obviously left him alive for a reason. 3 years and he gets to grow back his glorious mane.

I want Zaheer to be some kind of Hannibal Lecter. Since he is an Airbender now, they better seal his mouth like the earth queens people did with Korras.

Thanks for clarifying that Trey. Yeah I expected she would go visit Zaheer based on the trailer. I wonder how the Red Lotus comes into play then. I guess it makes sense they would attack Kuvira at some point. So things will get messy!

"I AM THE ORIGINAL BEI FONG"

Toph is still the greatest character in this franchise and it isn't close.

Theory: Toph lied about the metal bits. She figured Korra needs a physical representation of her mental block, just like she did with Aang, making him stand his ground and earthbend by himself. So Korra really doesn't have metal bits still in her body, but Toph needed to give Korra a goal, a physical goal to overcome her last obstacle.

I hope, like Veilk, that Korra realizes her through value is not in her physical attributes solely, and Toph's multiple references of Korra being "blinder than" her are hints that Toph wants to push Korra to open her mind even more and learn to live also with her trauma, and the Swamp will also help in that way (Again, the spirit vines used by Varrick also point to them being a major plot point in both Korra's and the main plot)

Korra is clearly physically incapable in some ways and explaining that away with "it's all mental" seems kind of hand wavy. Having it so that there are trace amounts of undetected poison remaining makes a lot more sense. Besides, this is Toph we're talking about, I don't think she'd pull off a ploy like that.

I think it's rather smart and elegant on the part of the writers. It's a physical problem Korra is dealing with that requires mental and/or spiritual strength to eventually overcome.

When it is said like that, it could possibly even be used to draw parallels to the main plot.

Dat Mako face was great. While I've ebjoyed Mako and Wu's side plot I do hope we get more with his character. I'm starting to think maybe Korra and Mako will be a thing since his character is kind of in waiting until she gets back.

She's gonna gravity bend the moon to cause an eclipse to give Korra an advantage in the final fight.

Does not instill hope about the antagonist of the game then.
Hendricks did a bunch of ATLA episodes, but he is clearly the B or C team
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender_episodes

You can see that Bryke did Season 1 exclusively and then it falls of horribly

I'm sure they are a pool of writers and they all work on all episodes, but this guy doesn't excel when he is the lead.
