Hendricks did a bunch of ATLA episodes, but he is clearly the B or C team
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender_episodes

You can see that Bryke did Season 1 exclusively and then it falls of horribly
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Legend_of_Korra_episodes

I'm sure they are a pool of writers and they all work on all episodes, but this guy doesn't excel when he is the lead.
What happened to Bryan Konietzko being a writer? He wasn't part of Book 2 or 3 of LoK.

Kinda boring this week; confirmed more or less what was obvious about Kuvira's intent. The rest was padding and barely any progress was made between Korra and Toph (besides the episode-end revelation that Korra's still hurting). The dialogue between them was good at least.

I do like Kuvira, and I like that there are people who seem to approve AND disapprove of her ruling to make things a bit more complicated. She's got a nice voice and looks the role.

Decent episode

I enjoyed good 'ol Toph. They say when we get to old age we sort of revert our personalities to our childish self. Of all the characters in the avatar universe she would be best at it. I liked her hint of wisdom of being on the beat.

Yeah I never knew that. But it makes sense. Plus Toph walked the earth to find some peace so it makes sense.

Bryan decided to concentrate on being art director for the rest of LoK. Although the main overall plot is still both him and Mike, Mike was left in charge of writing and they both hired more writers for Book 2-4.

Hendrick's ATLA episodes weren't bad, but yeah, not the best either. He directed The Swamp in Book 2, which is probably why he was put in charge of this one.

Thanks. But it's really people like WhereAreMahDragonz, Toa TAK and Kinvara that are awesome. And everyone in this thread. Everyone that steps in to help someone in their time of need. You guys are awesome. You've kept me alive.

MahDragonz total MVP.

Edit: I talk to Tuck on skype. So I don't mention him here because he already knows. But just wanted everyone to know Tuck has been a really kind person who has been helping me a long time (even with non cancer stuff).

Good to hear :)

So how does Toph see the world through the vines exactly? Do all the vines in republic city actually come from that swamp? Or is just the swamp vines are somehow connected to the spirit world which is also connected to spirit vines in other places which come from there too? Seems weird to mention off-handily, as I was expecting Korra to say something like "seeing someone isn't the same as being with someone" or something to that extent.

I thought this new episode was the best so far in this season.

I'm really interested in knowing what Varrick's new invention is and I really want to see a war between Kuvira and Wu (who maybe now will actually be a good leader).

What do you guys think?

I hope none of that happens and it actually is just a red herring of being a tool to help people and not an actual weapon. Also I really don't want Wu to come out on top. Also fuck Varrick.

This is the same swamp from way back in TLA, its roots are spread throughout the entire world.

I never saw this, but I can tell good writing from bad.

Tim Hendrick did the video game, so if you liked this episode by all means buy the shit out of the game.

Didn't say the episode was good. "Solid, if unremarkable." D just seemed a bit harsh to me. Clearly is wasnt an A, but as far as a table setting episode, I thought it was alright.

And I ain't going anywhere near that game. Looks terrible.

Pretty sure Varrick's invention will either expand the spirit wilds, or destroy them. Probably the former, as he said it would change everything.

In another FF parallel, is Verrick trying to invent a way to harness spirit energy?
"The planet's dyin', Korra!"

Its all fun and games till kuvera remember the avatar exits, reasonable points about ruling aside when you become a tyrant you have officially entered you dun fucked up territory. Stalin Stalin

Fucking Christ Toph, 70's years later and still wearing the same hairstyle.
It's not like see can see it. It's probably a mix of being practical and being something she can do by reflex after all these years.

What right does the avatar actually have to interfere with the inner politics in the earth kingdom? Only power and if Korra walzes in with her might to bring her own opinion upon the earth kingdom, then she is no tad better that Kuvira.

When she started taking shit over by force. With out consent, and threatened the other nations.

Thats when it became the avatar business.

Bonus point for threatening to wreck Su's shop.

Thats what right she has.

LIke if she did this with everyone consent no one would care, but she didn't . She's forcing people into this, and if there were to be some type of earth kingdom civil war, that shit would be bad for everyone. They made shit that needs to be exported to other nations, it would fuck up other nations economies.

So Korra should take over by force, yes? "It's ok she's the good guy.
May I remimd you that the last time Korra interfered in internal affairs she started a civil war, connected the two worlds without anybodys consent and reawoke the god of evil.

No, she become the queen? No, should she take over no? She should stop the dictator from taking over non consenting areas of the earth kingdom ( you keep forgetting that part) and try to get them to work together to form a government that would suit everyone needs get the other nations to stop forcing monarchs and stop kuvera from becoming Stalin Stalin. Or If that doesn't work... they could always split the earth kingdom up, times are changing , if I dunno an north and south earth kingdom would work, hey its better than forcing " freedom" on top people.

Also just because someone messes up something does not mean they should never try again

" Korra its su I need your help "

" I can't interfere sorry "

" Isn't that your job "

" No because time I did that I messed up"

"... How would you know you mess up now, people need your help korra!"

" No the internet told me if I mess up once I should never try again, because reasons. Huh now that I think about it that's defeatist as shit goes against a lot of the theming of the show, and nothing would ever really get done. "

She sees the world through the earth, just as she always has. Not the vines. The vines in republic city are because of vatuu. The vines in the swamp are because its a swamp.

I think?

At the very least, the vines in republic city are 100% different.

Quick update on my health problems:

I'm going to finish my treatment. I got a lot of support from WhereAreMahDragonz and she convinced me to get help. So I'm seeing a therapist to help with my emotional health during this time. And I've also hired someone to come to my place (a health worker to help me with my physical tasks). So a lot of my problems are now being addressed.

I haven't felt this good in an entire year. I'm 100% confident I will beat this disease! I can't thank WhereAreMahDragonz enough and everyone else in this thread (especially those like Kinvara and Toa TAK for checking up on me). Sorry for interrupting the episode talk. Just figured I would let you all know I'm going to make it to the end of this show and much long after! :)
Good to hear, keep fighting the good fight. It's good your friend on here managed to give you some good advice and it's also good that you were open enough to take it.

Thanks! WhereAreMahDragonz is super nice though. She's always trying to help other people on here. Just a truly good and caring person. So I'm just really lucky to have met such a person.

Yes you really are lucky. Lots of fake people running around. You found a true friend that cares about you.

Toph Beifong.

Best character in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Best character by far in The Legend of Korra.

Oh hey, Asami dropped off the face of the earth again. Didn't see that one coming!

Yeah, nowhere neer a "D" raiting. Maybe B, like the A.V. Club said (or IGN's 8.8) but still much better than most episodes of Book 2 or some of Book 1. It lacked action, which is what most are complaining about, bu it still had great moments and moved the plot forward.

I was surprised at how much it made me like Wu, and his relationship with Mako haha. As well as awesome Toph, obviously.

And we still can't pre-order it. Goddamnit, Activision, do you want my money or not?lmao :D
Just buy it on launch day, it's not like we get any bonus from preordering.

That's very very good to hear!
"Bolin won't talk. And if he does, I'll kill him. Mako, Prince Wu, the whole bloody lot of them until you and I are the only people left in this world."

Incest is in this year.

The Legend of Korra Video Game: Behind the Scenes with Titmouse, was this posted?

So about Esna and Deska
.... they fucking, right?

Zuzulla is a better
match, get it fire. . . .

he wrote Sokka's Master and The Puppetmaster, he can't be that bad
Again they are writing this as a team. Bryke have the story outlined and these guys fill in the blanks. But for the video game I doubt Bryke are doing anything more than collecting the royalties.

Wu here is over-the-top idiotic. Nobody in aristocracy could be that stupid. It was handled so well in ATLA. Zuko's charachter had such a good balance of his difficulties in dealing with duty, royalty, succession, honor.

Then they are trying to create this artifical conflict between a complete idiot king and the tyrannical general and it's just awful. Why isn't Wu just a little bit smarter instead of being a total comedy routine. Why is Makko his butler. It's like they are pieces of a sit-com. So fuckign bad

Bryke already said they came up with the concept for the story...

I think you are underestimating just how fucking stupid and stuck up people can be. As for Mako, that was explained quite clearly.

No, the developer asked Bryke for a story they could conceivably place between Books 2 and 3, and Bryan and Mike wrote it.

Also, you can't blame episodes you dislike on Tim Hendrick and then not give him credit for episodes you DID like or explain it away as being more of a team effort. If he wrote a good episode before, you have to accept that and give him equal credit as when you blame him for bad episodes. Looking at the episodes he's written for LoK, they seem to be giving him most of the filler/plot driven ones, maybe that's a problem. He wrote "Original Airbenders" las season, which I liked but understand why it underwhelmed some.

I need a Toph reunion with her girls

That would be nice. Should be interesting in how Lin reacts though as she didn't exactly part with Toph on good terms. Must be over 30 years since they last met.

he wrote Sokka's Master and The Puppetmaster, he can't be that bad
He also did Lake Laogai and Long Live the Queen so he's clearly done good good stuff before. Maybe he just needs more Earth Kingdom focused episodes as he seems to work best with them.

Great to hear.
KorraGaf will always be here for ya.

Interesting. I'm sure Hamlet can set the record straight. Hamlet is on top of all the Interview stuff. I'd be curious if Red Lotus is going to play a big part. We know their philosophy is anti-governance. So surely they must oppose everything Kuvira stands for.

And yeah like Trey said I vaguely remember bryke mentioning that Red Lotus won't be the main villains this Book but will show up in some form. So that Zaheer theory sounds right on the mark.

In the ign interview mike and Bryan did a while back, they said that Zaheer is no longer the villain but specifically said the red lotus will have a role in book 4.

That, plus the shot in the trailer that looked like a secluded monastery with white lotus guards, leads me to believe Korra will seek out Zaheer in order to make peace with the trauma he caused her.

Or she'll want the secret to spiritual enlightenment, either or.

Also, the writers obviously left him alive for a reason. 3 years and he gets to grow back his glorious mane.

He better have that glorious prison hair when we next see him.
Maybe he'll have gone crazy during that three year period after having all of his friends die during the last two episodes of Book 3 and failing to achieve his goal. Just endlessly re quoting Guru Laghima over and over again whilst flying repeatedly into a wall.

Jeez, Toph became crazy OP.
Being able to see her daughters from her location?

The Avatar is supposed to represent the interest of all nations, so Tenzin knows she's the best one to put an end to Kuvira's plans.

Toph was always crazy OP. And it makes complete sense as well. Bending is established as being something you have to understand and connect with on a spiritual and cultural level as much as being talented at it, and Toph has the means for a better understanding of Earthbending than anyone. She learned it from the very first Earthbenders, and her blindness and ability to be totally aware of her surroundings is the quintessential attribute of Earthbending. Lin may have the ability to see with Earthbending as well from season 1, but Toph sees that way 100% of the time. Bending is part of her. So naturally she would be the most powerful Earthbender there is (and probably the most powerful bender in the show period).

Desire to see Toph treat Su and Lin like kids and teach them earthbending from the basics rising.

Definitely setting up for a
temporarily blind Korra vs. Kuvira
fight. I crave for this.
