The nexus 9 looks really nice, but isn't there going to be a big issue with apps looking like shit on that screen? There aren't a lot of large tablet optimized apps on the google play store right? And aren't apps made mostly for 16:9 screens and not 4:3?

Not really. I mean it'd have to be a pretty shitty untested app to begin with for that to make a difference.

Are you coming to Android from an iOS background? Not trying to start a debate, I like and use both (iPhone 6 w/ N9 on the way). Tablet apps on Android are much better than a few years ago. It's like saying the PS3 had no game in 2009ish. It may have been true in 2006, but eventually built a solid library. Same thing here.

As far as aspect ratio, Android development is different than iOS. I don't think things are developed to fit only a certain aspect ratio or screen size. Instead they're developed with more of a one size fits all approach. Think of it like a responsive website almost. Tablet support was introduced in Android Honeycomb which was released in early 2011 I believe. Times were rough then. All apps worked on tablets, full screen, (not the way the iPad has to handle iPhone apps because they're developed to fit only the iPhone) but were essentially just blown up phone apps.

There's been ample amount of time for devs to catch up, though.. almost 2015! Idk how familiar you are with Android, but if you're looking to play around with an Android device and have an extra $400, the N9 seems like a pretty nice spot to jump in.

Waiting for Nexus 9 16 GB + Cover/case for $300 is the best way to go, methinks.

Also, remember when the 2013 HTC One launched with 32 GB of RAM as default with no premium over a 16 GB model? What the hell happened? The Nexus 6 comes with 32 GB default and 64 GB upgrade is only $50, so the reason it isn't the same with the Nexus 9 has to be HTC. Pretty ridiculous, IMO.

God, that looks so drop dead sexy. Current N5 owner here, absolutely love the size (big hands), and love the high specs.

I also flashed Lollipop on my N5 today...it's a true beauty.

So what do you say, GAF? Midnight Blue or Ghost White N6? I personally hate white devices, so midnight blue it is.

Lawd that looks decent. Blue for me as well.

Why the fuck are keyboard cases so butt-fuckingly expensive?

I would rather buy a Corsair K70 Mechanical Keyboard over that fucking thing. And it would last longer.

I will tell you why, Google has been getting some training courses from Nintendo and Apple, mostly from Nintendo. Nobody milks their base more than Nintendo does, they perfected that method long ago.

Sad to see Google abandon the low end of the market with the Nexus line. I don't trust other manufacturers to keep updating their budget products with the latest versions of Android.

Makes sense in light of the Android One strategy, but it's a shame where tablets are concerned, especially for things like schools.

Check out OnePlus One, might interest you with cynagogen mod running and the devs keen on keeping android updated.

Are Android tablets used in your area for schools? In my area it's all iPads.

*heavy breathing*

"I don't need it, I don't need it, I don't need it...."

having the word nexus there looks so fucking bad

and the material looks really slippery

but the curves are really nice

midnight blue looks better

Video of the Nexus 6 being compared to the Note 4: http://youtu.be/5Fn8OnzDO5Y

It's fucking massive.

who is this mug and why does he think having the same battery means having the same battery life

So when they say the Nexus 9 will be available November 3, that also means that if I go to a store like Best Buy that day, I can get one? Or would I have to preorder?

Birthday coming up and trying to decide between the nexus 6 and 9. I'm leaning towards the 9 since I currently use a Nexus 5. Which one would you guys go with?

If you have a 5, get a 9 unless you really want a bigger phone. I have seen limited reasons to really upgrade - though I am getting a 6 for development/testing.

Here's a question: Why do people want the LTE version of the N9, or any tablet for that matter? Don't you carry your phone with you at all times? If you do, why not just tether? Surely having a separate data plan for your tablet can't be cheaper than using the one you already have for your phone?

(I guess this goes out the window if you're with some shit carrier that prevents tethering or charges extra for it for no good reason.)

If I give it to the kids, they will be able to use it without being tethered to my phone.

Wow the phone looks great but what is with big ugly logo of Motorola and nexus on back. Also price is on higher side so I'll wait for a price drop

I went ahead.and got a one plus one instead due to getting an invite from the gaf thread. More interested in the nexus 9 now or waiting until next year when the nexus 7 gets a refresh.

Smart move. You can get the OPO and a Nexus 9 for almost the same price as the Nexus 6 and performance will be the same on OPO and Nexus 6 if Note 4 performance is anything to go buy. The 2K screen takes any power advantage away from the N6.

I don't know what a One Plus One is...first time hearing it on this thread. Can you upgrade the battery on it?
