Wow, native res 2D content looks practically perfect on Vita TV. Muramasa Rebirth looks great. I'd be hard pressed to tell the different between a native 720p game without a direct comparison. All the more reason to do glorious 2D artwork
Issue is they are producing them. They're just choosing not to sell them in a certain place. That's why X-2 in particular is so frustrating, since it's literally the exact same cart that would be released in the US if it were to be released here.
Clarification: I don't think that games that don't have a physical release that is the same as the one in the US/EU/Wherever should definitely be physical. I just take issue when they have a product that is perfectly suitable to be sold in multiple markets and they refuse to sell it.
Hi, I know there are a lot of gaffers who import so hopefully one of you an help.
I'm currently living in Korea with an US PSN account. Now, I know some korean and I want to buy some vita games here (specifically the "Sen no Kiseki" series). I know my Vita is physically region free, but how do I get the DLC to work? My ps3 can switch accounts, but my Vita can't seem to. Any help to get the DLC to work would be appreciated. Thanks.

You won't be able to use those DLC because you need to have that Korea account on your Vita, and since you can't because of using a US account on the Vita, you won't be able to use those DLC.

The difference is that the cart versions aren't as cheap as what you pay in NA. Both FFXHD games on Vita have a MSRP of $70 bundled or $40 each separately in Japan. They couldn't sell them separately for more in the NA because people expect the same content as the PS3 version in a $40 package for the Vita.
The DLCs are pretty much just cosmetic or miscellaneous items. Nothing really worthwhile IMO
Also I hope you're starting from the beginning of the series and playing in order

My proposal would be a sort of first party import site. There would be a premium, but it wouldn't cost the company anything extra (other than shipping I suppose). I don't think it would be practical to put it on the mainstream market, either.
There's a rather high initial cost that makes producing physical carts/disks rather impractical for anything that's not guaranteed tons of sales. Unless some revolution allows unit-by-unit production of physical games with virtually no overhead or oversight, don't expect small or mid tier games to have many retail releases. And...don't expect that revolution either.
Yup. We've seen the revolution in music (tapes, then cds) and books (print on demand) but those are high volume 'universal' mediums. The odds of seeing something like that in the gaming industry, where the cost of entry is high and the medium is controlled (you can't just put any game you want on PS4, for example) is slim to none.

What you're asking for has way more overhead than you think. You'd need to create an online store, carry inventory, deal with shipping, returns, etc. all for a couple niche titles for a niche market. It likely wouldn't even come close to breaking even, let alone profit... you might get a couple bursts of sales a year when some game of note came out, but the rest would be a trickle.
All for a cart that by your own admission you can import a copy of already if you wanted to. There's just no way that's viable.

I understand what you're saying, and you're probably right that I underestimate the costs that would go with it. But I still think it could be done.
moving on, though... I'm almost done with my millionth playthrough of daxter, and then I gotta grind out the last few expansion things for onepiece before Fantasy Life comes out this friday. Gonna be lots of grinding this week .-.
oh, nice, i've just been using my index since i'm going through all the songs on easy right now. thumb seems way more efficient so i guess i'll starting training myself.
Oops yeah PP not SP. I do upgrade though haha. I just like to feel OP.
Maybe I'll try that for my first run and just run wild on my second. There will be a lot of mission failed screens though. It's tough to be a real man.
The Z series are pretty well balanced around not having upgrades. I haven't picked up Z3, but given that it's also Banpresoft, I'd assume they're also well balanced.
I did Z without upgrades, and only missed 2 SR Points. And I am VERY confident that I could have obtained them but it was exhausting to repeat a 2 hour stage (yes I watch animations a lot orz) more than twice. Unfortunately, I'm not a perfectionist.
Similarly, I only missed one in Z2 Hakai-hen and none in Z2 Saisei-hen.
Seishin are your best friends. Use them. And one particular seishin, beats the crap out of any other stuff. It is hands down the best seishin. As a clue, it does change the tide of the battlefield (it's "map-wide" and usually has high SP cost).
Personally, I started doing no-upgrades since most SRW communities (and guides back when I used them) used to go "USE THIS GUY WITH 9001 bar of upgrades!" to obtain SR Points. Why would I waste money on a mecha I didn't even like? It's a fanservice game, I should be able to use anyone I fancy!
Granted, some supporting/side units like Methuss won't ever be in the same league as others, but most are quite good enough.
Either ways, you can always give up mid-way and start upgrading. XD
On the other hand, games made by the GBA/DS/3DS team (I forgot their name, but IIRC it starts with M) has become bullshit ever since they shifted to "+1 stat per level up" for all pilots. I can't remember when they started but probably K.
Combine that with the "enemy Lv based on your team average Lv" and the habit of rotating your roster, and you'd end up with a Kouji in Mazinger Z that gets killed by grunts in two or three hits due to the level gap. And I do mean normal, small fry grunts, and not those "might as well have been a mini-boss" grunt.
The stat gap screws balance up, and the fact that the "enemy Lv" thing is entirely calculated assuming that you're only using the same 15~20 people. So rotation + constant use of 2x EXP = jump up Lvs (and stat gap) like there's no tomorrow..
No upgrades on GBA-Team games are doable, but has a rather very bad balance if you keep rotating.

Since Falcom has been putting Sora no Kiseki Kai HD on PS+, I just went ahead with
my Rank B file; I fell for Luciolla's trick!!!!! T___T
and go on with Sora no Kiseki the 3rd. I'll just replay them again in HD instead.
But goddamn, I will not allow myself to finish this game without beating
Fisher in that last Fishing Match.
This is getting to PSP ver Criminal Girls-levels of impossibleness. @__@
Not really impossible, but you'd need luck. A lot. And for all the planets to align.
Have been at it for 3 hours now. And the award item isn't even that good. T___T
Book of Shadows is already available in the West since January 2013. We're waiting for Blood Drive now, the Vita game which was released in Japan a few months ago.

I'm a grown-ass man with a child to look after and another one on the way, successful in my field of work with a beautiful wife but I found myself ignoring everything else except my totally ghetto mud hut with windows!
Never played it before but it seems a really good fit on vita. Feels like a real "hour witherer".

I really wonder if people who complain about PDf's touch controls are just playing the game wrong. I have a feeling that people who were asking for analog stick controls in the Vita version will be very disappointed after actually trying them out in PDF 2nd.
It's the first print bonus. Code gets you both the HD remake of the original SRW and an exclusive dlc mission with Suzune. You'll need to be on a JP account to use them, though the dlc missions are cross buy (SRW remake is not).

I can only speak for myself but I am mostly fine with the star notes on the Vita except when many star notes appear in short succession. I have slight problems with sweaty hands and in these situations the touchscreen doesn't seem to recognize all my swipes which sucks.
I've hit a wall in Wizardry 囚われし亡霊/Town of Forsaken Spirits(the unlocalized one), hopefully someone can help.
Can't get anywhere on 2F, the stairs just go right to town.

I think platform control is the big thing, really. Failing all else you can burn some damn CR-Rs, get some generic cases and print out some high quality disk labels and cover art for music. DVDs are basically the same, any indie outfit can potentially do that with one of assorted levels of quality. But putting something on a PS4/Xbox One readable disk is'nt so easy, or, god forbid, proprietary carts for Vita and 3DS. Probably only a few places in the world that can even produce them and I'm sure there's a fairly high minimum payment/print run per game.

After trying the Japanese demo I actually prefer using the thumbstick... in PDf I set the scratch notes as the back touchscreen since I'm quite OCD about smudges on the front screen and it worked just fine, but I still prefer thumbsticks. Then again the demo only had Easy and Normal difficulty, maybe thumbsticks are unmanageable on Extreme :/
Changing topic, I don't know if I should get Killzone Mercenary on Vita. I have some money left on PSN but I'm playing tons of stuff on the Vita at the moment and I don't really want to expand my backlog even more. Decisions decisions...

It's not extremely long. The gameplay and visuals are nothing completely groundbreaking in a vacuum, but on a portable device it looks and plays pretty amazing (especially after they allowed saving at checkpoints...esh). I can't say it's an urgent play, but uh, it's probably the last and best of it's kind on a portable console like...ever, so I'm quite glad I played it.

The first thing I did in PDf was to disable back touch. I usually do short swipes in the bottom left corner of the screen with my thumb. I never have to change my grip or anything, so the touchscreen basically acts like an extended (and more comfy) analog stick.
