PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

I don't know, the OP might become too bloated if we do that. The GotM section would take up too much space.

I guess, but I do feel like it may be difficult to get a consensus game of the month if they aren't separated as most people probably don't own every platform.

So guys, what was the final verdict on Battle Princess of Arcadia? Buy or not buy? I like 2D sidescrolling brawlers, and it seems to have a bit of strategy thrown in. Though not on the same level as Vanillaware, there art style looked good, as well. But there were a few people who were saying not to get it, so I'm still on the fence.

Edit: Screw it, I'll pick it up. I can usually tell if I'll enjoy a game from gameplay videos, and even if I'm wrong, $7.50 isn't much to cry over.

Make their imprint on the post smaller, write less and/or less pictures or whatever - it's important to give equal standing to the current platforms IMO

I think the platform split was part of the reason why we stopped doing GotM. If I added 3 games to the OP, the GotM section will take up so much space that I'll probably have to remove descriptions altogether and only leave the box arts intact. I'd rather focus on a single game every month. If the poll results go horribly wrong, I'll try something else for the next thread.

How big does the box art have to be? Who says we even need box art? What does box art have to do with the actual gameplay of most games and the way the game actually looks?

These are the things I'm thinking while reading that.

We have to make it visually interesting somehow. Screenshots or box arts would work.

Basically, GotM isn't so important that we would have to do 3 of them every month. The main purpose of the OP should still be to inform people of new PSN titles.

If you say so, sounds like a waste of a post then.

In the past threads, the community voted on a game they like, and then we dedicated a whole section to it in next month's thread. It's just a fun little thing to instill a sense of community. I guess I just don't see why we have to complicate things.

PM me or tweet me if you have any more comments about GotM so that this thread can get back on track.

Any month without a vita gotm will be a sad month, indeed.

Sounds good to me. Keep it to one game, because it's going to be funny to see Vita games beat PS4 titles every month.

I've had a PlayStation filled weekend this weekend. Been playing Xillia 2 for most of it; bought Ar NoSurge for PS3 and my copy of Sword Art Online finally came.

And I still have Neptunia Rebirth; Sorcery Saga & Yakuza 3 to finish. And Freedom Wars is out in just over a week.

Gonna have to bury the new games away into the backlog for now I think.

Couldn't sleep, felt compelled to make this. I'll get a proper screenshot once Content Manager cooperates with me. Goodnight GAF.
That looks amazing :O.

Starting next month, Game of the Month will be brought back in the PSN thread. For those who are unfamiliar, GotM was a section in the old VitaGAF threads in which posters voted for a Vita game to be featured in the OP. I'm thinking we should extend the voting to all Vita/PS4/PS3 games for this thread but limit nominees only to new releases from the previous month so that people don't go crazy nominating PS3 games from 2006.

Any suggestions/preferences on how I should handle the voting? We can either do it by PM, or I can make some sort of survey link.
Next month GotM? :O

I have a feeling that the GotM is already confirmed ;)

For PS4 games with a preorder and preload option, will I be able to buy them tomorrow morning before the store officially updates and start downloading/playing them instantly? Also, does anyone know when the embargo lifts for Legend of Korra?

Destructoid has their review going out at 10 AM EST tomorrow. Not sure if there is a real embargo or not, but that is the only confirmed review I've found (from websites I frequent).

Who else here is playing Tears of Tiara II on PS3?

Anime + SRPG + MGS type hour long scenes between ten minutes of gameplay = heaven.

I just ordered this yesterday due to all the positive impressions I kept hearing.

Wise move. I am about 7 hours deep and the meat of the game is the story (pretty good so far), but I am pleasantly surprised with the SRPG elements. I was afraid they were going to be poorly tacked on, but the gameplay is surprisingly fun and they have added a little depth to it.

So far, the only thing the game is lacking in is enemy AI (which a lot of SRPGs struggle with). I do hear that the difficulty increases as the game goes on, so hopefully that means it is partly because of the AI improving. It also would be nice to be able to save during the story scenes, which is a relatively minor quibble.

I'm trying to hold off on buying a ps4 before Black Friday, but it's too hard.

I really want it for the nice freebies of ps+.

I suppose you could always start a subscription before October ends and claim the games before getting a system, though I think that may stop you from using any free trial that comes with the PS4? I'm not too sure how that would work. Depends on whether or not it's worth it to you, I guess.

He could be talking about not being able to hold off because he wants to play the freebies. To which I would say, I think you can hold off just fine.

The X button on the DS3 that came with my Vita TV squeaks, only sometimes. I fixed my squeaky DS4 trigger with body spray, will that trick work here...? And is that safe? Seems like it'd be much less likely to reach the squeaky part going down the face buttons.

Just started Danganronpa 2, and just noticed
Nagito Komaeda is VERY close to an anagram for Makoto Naegi
. I realize they are not being subtle with the comparisons but I think it is cool. Not sure what to make of it and
Byakuya being back
, but holy shit I am ALL IN.

I'm getting error e-82000171 when trying to purchase from psn (adding funds). Anyone else having probs?

Update: my error, all is well.

Been a long time since I played a music game, and but warriors orochi 3 is the best 5 bucks I spent in recent memory. Looks amazing and plays great. Only thing I can complain about is the draw distance.

Weird thing happened to me earlier today. Every time I tried to play one of my digital Vita games, PS+ or owned outright, I got a message saying the application couldn't be started, and that I'd have to redownload it from the PS Store. And aside from TxK and Pix the Cat, which made me redownload the whole game, they all just downloaded one small file. Almost like it was just my licenses that got messed up or something. Anyone else ever have this happen?

I bought Frozen Synapse Prime today thanks to some of the glowing opinions on this thread. I'm only a couple of missions in but hoooooooly cow is it amazing so far. I can't believe a strategy game with this much depth is out on Vita.

Some would argue that Natural Doctrine is the other srsbsns strategy game on vita, but it has basically no tutorials and will completely kick your ass if you don't educate yourself a bit.

**If autoduelist is here, he could give you a bit more detail. Or you can look at his post history since he's expressed himself very well in the past on the subject.
