PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

Oh right, I did a let's play of Race The Sun (PC) earlier, review code provided by dev. Pretty fun proc gen sort of game, good "objectives" system to drive gameplay, world seed changes daily I believe. Should be great on PS consoles, worked well enough on PC with a controller and I've heard that's been improved since I played plus obviously the PS UI has controller in mind. Love the art style, hopefully the PS4's power is put to use for some good clean AA.

What's your NIND?

In profile, but you can probably guess...

Game of the Month voting starts today! Please vote for one Vita/PS4/PS3 game that was released in the month of October. You have one of two options: either PM me on GAF (which I would prefer) or tweet/DM me on Twitter (@whoiszero). Format the PM as such:
Subject: PSN GotM - <insert game title here>
Body: <optional - brief comment on why should people play this game or why this game deserves to be GotM>
Any incorrectly formatted PMs may be ignored. Voting ends October 31. Good luck!

Oh snap! $15 for BOTH Xilia and Graces f? That's a definite buy from me, though I still need another $58 to hit $100. Any other notable sales from Namco? I'm at work, so I can't see.

With both P4 Dancing All Night and IA/VT Colorful being stuck in development limbo, no, not really.
Well we have:

Musync
Cytus lambda( more than 100 songs!!)
NEPtunia pp
Hatsune miku p d f(2nd game is coming too)
DJ max
That tap dance korean game(only in Asia)
Senran kagura dekamori( now in November)

So I think we are OK on that genre.

Taking the PM route? A martyr for the cause. I don't think I'll vote this month though since I don't feel very strongly about any of the games, and I only actually played 1 new vita game this month.
Smart money's on SK:SV

Man. I really want to enjoy Don't Starve on Vita but everything's SO TINY. And I was excited to find a HUD size setting in the options, only to immediately have my hopes crushed when I realized it was set to the maximum by default.

Dammit. :(

PM and Twitter. Having titles directly in the subject line will make it a bit easier for me when counting up votes. :)

BTW, I hope you guys won't mind if I don't reply to your PMs/tweets.

Deemo is also coming to Vita. No one's really talking about it, but the Vita version is supposed to have some exclusive content.

I see Freedom Wars mentioned a lot in this thread... I looked it up, and it just seems like some anime shooter. What's so great about it?

Ugh. I hate how it's seemingly impossible to filter out PSP games when browsing Vita stuff on the webstore.

Also, dumb question because I probably already know the answer, but is Let's Fish REALLY that bad? Waifu fishing sounds like it could be fun, but I've heard almost nothing good about it. And the fact that it seems to be on a permanent PS+ discount doesn't inspire a lot of confidence either.

Apparently not. And since I'm not much of an Online type of player, I'll go with Shadow Warrior

Garden Warfare on PS4 does have local co-op. Only the tower defence mode, but it's still there (source: I've been playing it with a friend).

We still have Oreshika next year

Oreshika was supposed to be out this year. Given that we've not heard anything in a very long time, though, I'm guessing not (since the announcement in May, pretty much).

Good news. More time for them to re-announce it as digital only so everyone can make a fuss and get a physical release, like with Freedom Wars in Europe!

Guys, I've bought the Tales of Xilla/Graces F combo pack on psn on sale at the moment, but I only have the space for one on my ps3, which one should I play first?

The one with the better story would be preferable, I've spent already way too many hours playing FF13 and my brain can't handle another nonsense.
(yeah I know Tales are not the best choice for that but whatever, an okayish story would be more than enough)

So I'm on holiday in America for 2 weeks and my console of choice is my Vita. Just wondering what games Gaf recommends that I should try and pick up cheap over here? I'm avoiding download titles as the internets pretty weak and US titles won't work on my UK account.

Persona is first on my list.

Might be a silly question but is it impossible to rent movies off the US store in the UK? Like I use my US account all the time and can buy games fine but have issues with this.

Yeah, the font is freeware, so it's not an excuse for firing the guy that made the picture. But as Auctopus says, the choice is weird. When I saw the letters the first I thought was that they didn't really looked like a horror font.

But whatever.

That thread about it was stupid, with ridiculous conspiracy theories and faux outrage and righteous indignation. Insomniac and Sony have maintained they still have a good relationship and I'm sure there are those between the two companies that are friends. The font choice by Sony was probably no more than a wink and nudge acknowledgement to Insomniac since the game releases next week, and they tweeted a joke response. Nobody strikes me as mad, and I doubt Sony had some devious plan to either ride the game's coattails or undermine its success by using said font on an online sale. Seems like a big deal about nothing.

Oh well, already spent the money on Shadow Warrior.

This "Spend $100, Get $15 back" includes Pre-Orders?
Because I just pre-ordered GTA V and when I went to check the transaction on SEN, it shows "Purchase Date: 11/17/14", which is the day the game will be released.
This means I won't get $15 back?

Xillia has the better story, Graces has the better gameplay. So go with Xillia.
