PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

London is the only UK panopticon... I don't know what I was expecting.
Honestly it's exactly what I expected. A list of capitals was about all we were going to get and while I can understand that people would prefer to use Edinburgh/Cardiff/Belfast/(Dublin) or so there are a limited number of slots (and luckily I live in England so London doesn't bother me :p). I will admit I kind of hoped they'd pick a city from each country at random instead of going the capital route though, just to make it a bit more unusual.

I'm actually more surprised that they gave some countries multiples -- particularly the US with six. I guess they had to try and balance out the populations somehow but it seems a bit excessive.

Edit: Wait, TOTP recs! Buy Demon Gaze, especially if you're in Europe where it's currently on sale!
And buy Freedom Wars when it comes out so I'll have more chance of finding people to play with ;)

Yay! My country is there. Will buy. :)
I didn't think Rainbow Moon was too bad for grinding unless you really wanted to max every stat, which isn't necessary. I mean, there's some, but it's a nice pick up and play game for vita when you have half an hour to burn and feel like a rpg. Just focus on the key stats for each class and grinding becomes fairly irrelevant (I'm 3/4 through the game, perhaps it changes?). Never upgrade MP or HP (they go up naturally, no need to boost them further).

I think it does? The story never improves, but once the difficultly ratchets up and you have several team members with very distinct abilities (I think you're still using just one character where you are?), I think it's a lot of fun. I like spacially aware arena turn based combat though (like arc the lad, disgaea, tits, etc).
I think I'll give it a second chance. Not right now though. I still have to got through 4 games before that and they're all pretty lengthy. FFX/X-2 HD, SAO:HF, and SRWZ3. That's at least 100 hours each game since I'm planning to plat every single one of them.

Edit: I used two characters. The main one and the girl with the bow.

Playing Race The Sun and it is really good.

This game is like an endless runner in 3D. Object is to avoid obstacles as long as you can. Really good in short bursts as the levels change daily. Gets a little deeper with powerups and special abilities but this isn't something you will play for hours. Progress is though a set of challenges. I think this game is more at home on the Vita with its quick play and the sticks seem more responsive and tuned on Vita than PS4. Vita version takes a bit to load but runs smooth with a very noticeable hit in detail. Can get frustrating and sometimes you get screwed by the environment in unavoidable no out paths unless you have a jump left. Very addicting.

Man tempted to pick up at least one of the Corpse Party games for my Vita. Just thinking maybe I should wait for another sale. To much to play right now.

You should get the first game. Watch a couple of trailers first to see if the graphics and gameplay won't bother you.

Should we remove the "Games you should be playing" column from the doc? Because I only made it to tell Tapejara that he should play Persona 4: Golden, it doesn't really have any other purpose

Yeah I instinctively hoarded jumps. I rather like the unlock system, I think it helps keep you going by giving you something other than pure score to motivate you. Of course, if you don't care about upgrades OR score there's still not much to go on.

Played that in the GameStop PS4 Demo Station and found it quite fun :). It reminded me of a old flash game I played back in high school.

Agreed. The risk/reward is kinda broken. Never worth it to use jumps to get more rings.

Also forgot to mention the cross save is seamless on PS4/Vita so the cross buy is actually useful. Glad developers figured it out.

Can I ask what you liked about it? I finished up the first area and I'm at the part where you leave by using a boat. Does the game get better?

I liked that it actually has exploration and side-quests like a normal RPG. Most SRPGs I've played just have battles interrupted by dialogue and menus, etc. It's why I'm not really fond of them despite loving JRPGs.

Great to hear about cross-save. Cross save is an amazing feature all too commonly miss-used. There is very very rarely a case where it shouldn't be automatic by default. Doki Doki Universe showed you can even make it automatic with multiple save files. I always make sure to harp on it in PS4/3/Vita games that do/dont' support it in videos

1 new free song
Wings of Liberty - Rock song which has a lot of fun with variable speeds as the dubstep kicks in during the middle of the song.
2 new DLC songs
Canon in D - A relaxing song on both easy and hard difficulties. Most of the challenge comes in reading the large number of notes coming in at a very relaxed pace and juggling holds and single note combinations in time with each other. I bought this one because Canon in D needs to be in every single music rhythm game ever made.
ViR to ReaL -Connected- - Japanese pop duet with real female vocalist and vocaloid.

So does that mark the end of Sqaure support on Vita?

When did Square support start on Vita? We went nearly 2 years between Lords of Apocalpyse/Army Corps of Hell and FFX HD, with only really Million Arthur in between. And then a further 10 months for a Chaos Rings port.

To be fair, that is only for 3 days of sales. The report ends on the 19th, and the game released on the 16th. It might very well bomb, but I think you at least need a full week to know for sure.

Please don't do this. I can't begin to think how many times I've had this discussion with people on internet forums :(

Dearest Playstation webstore team,
Please have a talk with the new intern who decided the browser's Accept-language header was a good thing to use in deciding which of the localized store catalogs to display, even overriding the locale specifier in the URL.

No need to fire him outright though.

If I go to https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/de-de/, I initially get the US catalog, US prices, US offers etc. Of course it switches to the German catalog once I log in. So there's that.

Sincerely,

I'm glad to see that they didn't just pick cities from the US or NA, but also from all around the world. Glad to see Toronto is in, I'll be repping my city (seeing Portugal in there too, having been born there, put a smile on my face too :P)

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and Silent Hill Origins is PSP only according to PSN EU.
Will it work on Vita if it's downloaded first to PS3?
