TEKKEN 7 Arcade Release set for February 2015

What ? no..

No game will look as good as Blood Vengeance this gen.I don't think so.

Especially in motion.

True.

I don't know, maybe that quality will become possible with PS5 if it has a GPU with around ~8-10x the performance of PS4 GPU and 3D stacked RAM / HBM.

I'm excited for a new Tekken, I've wanted a good 3-D fighting game for some time now. Hoping the console release ditches the weird 3D adventure mode from Tekken 6 and focuses more on providing a lot of content for the vanilla Tekken gameplay.

Does anyone know how this game being in production will influence the next Soul Calibur? I understand both series are published by Namco, I'm mainly looking forward to the next entry in that series.

No wonder people are disappointed with graphics, if they expect a 60 fps game to look the same as a CGI movie from 2011 LOL

Two different teams. And with how the last SC went by how barebones the game was, I'm kind of in the ballpark that the game is dead entirely and will stay F2P.

As for Tekken 7, I certainly hope Namco considers bringing the game outside of the Asian market first. We don't have the luxury arcades. I think we may see it in 2015 late into the year.

Late 2015 would be nice ,but it may easily jump onto early 2016.Depends on how long the gap might be.

But I hope unreal 4 allows easier development and smaller release gaps.

I knew about the two teams, I was wondering if Namco spaces the releases of Tekken and Soul Calibur apart to avoid saturating the market because they're so similar.

The idea of SC being F2P forever is my worst nightmare. I remember interviews pre-release of Soul Calibur 5 saying they wanted to make as many games in the series as possible, I was hoping that would come to fruition. SC always has a special place in my heart. Maybe I can hope for a reboot that really nails it and gets everyone back on board the train.

I'm cool with waiting until late 2015 for the new Tekken, I'm just crossing my fingers that the console version will be a little more substantial than Tekken 6. I remember wondering why they spent so many resources on that adventure mode rather than developing more characters or stages or something. Admittedly, I'm not proficient enough in fighting games to know anything about the development process.

No, you're right. Scenario Campaign was a waste of time/money/resources. Almost no one liked it. I guess they wanted to appeal to casual players with the single player components of the game and give more replay value.

My guess they were trying to appeal to the casual crowd and expand on The Devil Within mini game from Tekken 5.

All Namco needs to do is make DLC that the fans want. Older costumes. More customs to purchase. All after release. Hell, if it means a couple of DLC characters, sure. Why not. I know Harada hates DLC but running off a 1/4 budget than what they've had in the past, they better be thinking long term.

Actually, that was a translation error. Tekken 7's costs are 4 times that of Tekken 5.

In terms of texture details and character models on PC-Current-Gen yeah
We have lastgen ports with better model's

I'm sure they can, and I don't mean for it to look CG, I mean thecharacter model's could be better, forget all the AA and filter's it would need to look like that, I'm just going on about the model's.
The model's in T7 looks like a lastgen version is highly likely.

Your choice of wording did not imply that at all, but even then, maintaining 60 FPS > Character models for fighting games. So no, they can't/won't do it.

"The Arcade versions of Tekken games were always based on Playstation hardware."

That's...exactly what I said?

I think there was confusion caused by your odd tendency to not use the quote tag.

Someone/some people were/are actually expecting visuals to be at Blood Vengeance level CG? IN-GAME?

Well..............have fun with those expectations.

Oh really? I said damn.

NVM. Re-reading the source Creaking provided, it's only talking about customization costs.
But anyway, yes.....it was mistranslated.

This doesn't look bad.

Blood Vengeance looks really unnatural besides. Somehow, the characters in BV look even more video-gamey than they do in their video games.

People are really holding on to that "it's just 60%!" line pretty tightly.

It's not going to look much better.
Harada mentioned on Twitter the character models will improve.
I don't think the facial animations are finished either, a lot of the models at the loc test looked incomplete and still blinked awkwardly.
Also, I believe Harada mentioned the loc test was a 2 month old build.

Harada: Character lighting(No light now), Skin shader, Texture Refine, Etc...Etc...

"The arcade machines are essentially PCs, right?"

I don't think there're any details on what the arcade board for this game is, yet. Historically, Tekken arcade boards are based on the same hardware as Playstations. If that's the case and it's based on PS4 hardware, then yes. But, that's not a particularly high-end PC.

that's because most of the time, they never envisioned porting tekken to anywhere but playstation. last gen, they went multiplatform, so it wouldn't make sense to have an arcade board running Ps4 hardware, you know

Maybe this is not the best place to post this, but for you PS3 EU owners that still didn't get TTT2 yet and are hyped for the T7 it's on sale now for ÂŁ3.99 on PSN.

doesn't really have anything to do with the engine. It's the arcade deals they have always done that guarantees a one year arcade exclusivity before console ports.

it's all business :P

I'd say it's still the most likely option. The tekken team would be much more familiar with any Sony architecture nuances and kinks than they would be with any other system.

I'll be happy with a universal tekken ball mode.

the thing is though it's pretty much a legit playstation inside the arcade cabinets. it's not just that they use the same specs as playstation, but like... namco system 357/369 (Tekken 6)=the cell, it even had its own xmb.

which makes me wonder, did sony ever get anything out of this long tekken relationship with namco? i'm guessing if namco had to pay sony all this time to use their hardware, than they've opted to just use a standard high end pc. that would make sense given harada wanting to bring to "any platform of desire" and the whole unreal engine thing.

the only way i see them using Ps4 for T7 arcade is to carry on tradition. but it's not like it's gonna be exclusive. only then would it make sense and i wouldn't blame them considering tekken's flopped on any other platform other than playstation.

Did I not tell you why this won't happen in the other Tekken thread?

Just because it's now multiplatform, doesn't mean things will change when it comes to development.

Fighting games in general, have never been really popular on Xbox platforms (except for some Capcom fighters being Ultra Street Fighter IV & Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 due to them being technically better on 360 than on PS3), let alone on PC gaming (especially when PC gaming isn't popular in Japan). They're going to most likely develop this with PS4 hardware in mind, because Playstation consoles are where most of the fighting game community are at in general, besides Arcades in Japan.

Did I not tell you why this won't happen in the other Tekken thread?

my question was, has sony gotten any royalties from this long tekken relationship with namco, so no, you haven't told me why this won't happen.

look man i'm all for tekken 7 arcades being Ps4, i think tekken should've remained exclusive all this time, but if sony ever actually got something from namco using their hardware, i think they'd opt not to do it this time around if they want to save costs and make porting as easy as possible.

and fighting games have been doing well on xbox, it's just tekken that flopped because it was exclusive to playstation for so long & is still recognized as a playstation franchise. soul calibur, mortal kombat, street fighter, they all sold well on xbox, it's just that they sold even better on playstation.

even if the tekken story is considered " bad "

got damn do i care about tekken 3 characters so much. Maybe even tekken 5.

i want to see xiaoyu and jin fucking finally hook up.

It will have been about time. Harada actually said something about that not too long ago, and there's hints all over the place through Project X Zone, SFxT, BR, and Tag 2

Okay. I'm trying to remain calm, but now there's an arcade release date.... and there's STILL no word on if my girl Nina Williams is included in the cast? If she isn't in, this will be the 1st Tekken ever that I skip!!! >:(

Ah I can't wait. Wait seems almost too long than I wanna wait. TTT2 was so freaking good I cannot even explain it. I wonder if the US we'll see an arcade release to I'll stop by arcades to play that. Oh man I am so excited. Fuck yeah Tekken 7!!!

Also I don't know if anyone's noticed but some of the Tekken characters have Twitter pages it's pretty cool actually.

I don't recall Harada ever saying anything about that.

What hints has there been in pxz, tag 2 and I'm guessing by br you mean T6?

I know in sfxt they're tag partners in campaign but that's about it.

I'm sure Nina will be in it. She is one of the staple characters in the game. She and Anna are my mains, so I need at least one of them in the game(preferably both). I heard she is getting drastically modified somehow. Not exactly sure what that means, but I am assuming that they are either substantially changing her entire fighting style or modifying her current fighting style. I thinking they might Tekken 4 Jin her.

Why was this bumped? lol

Also, February is "Pre-Release Version" and not the "final version" from what I recall.

Both Kazuya and Mishima are supposed to be the main characters this time around. I feel like they are trying to keep his return a surprise.

although it seems like they are the main characters, jin's always been the protagonist from tekken 3 and up.

even in tekken 4 where it seemed kazuya and heihachi were the main characters, jin still ended being the protagonist.

Will Chloe be playable in February? Or are they delaying her for a redesign? Kappa

The redesign stuff was just Harada trolling. Unless I'm mistaken, they should have the full cast for February, including any returning fighters they haven't yet revealed. Things can always change down the line, of course.
