WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

I've had the special edition on preorder for PS4 since forever, and my hype is slowly dying down. Is this a valid response to this thread? Or should I keep my preorder and hope for the best. This was going to be my first WWE game in years.

Personally I'd cancel. Most likely this game will be on sale for $29 on Black Friday or within a couple of weeks after. 2k has done some shady stuff and most likely they will have the next gen version locked down to prevent preorders from cancelling too. If the game is actually good after release you can still get it.

Sorry if this is common knowledge already, but if you intend on waiting for the game to go on sale (Black Friday or w/e) but still want Sting, you can just pick up a preorder card from Target. The code is already on the back, unlike some retailers that might not give you a code until you actually pick up the game.

Yeah he'll be bought for DLC by January.

It was that way last year with Ultimate Warrior.

Pretty sure last game they put out I got it around Christmas for 39.99

I just realized that it comes out on Tuesday. I have to see if Amazon is already prepping this for shipment. Worse comes to worse, my girlfriend and I will have fun playing this together.

Edit: Sort of confused. The game is out tuesday, but it says that my copy won't ship until November.

Sting. If it's a retail preorder keep it for now. If the game sucks and you don't want it the cancel it closer to release.

I have a feeling they are going to do like they did for last gen and not reveal anything before release, so he won't know whether it's good or not. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they actually show gameplay footage of a match.

Not like ratings have really mattered since HCTP, IIRC they were at least back then tied with weight classes, to a rated 90 super heavyweight wouldn't really be the same as a rated 90 cruiser weight or diva, it was all in relation to the weight class. Still funny in a stupid way that AJ is rated lower than the Bellas.

I think 2K should be getting more of the blame, everything Yuke's does is at the direction of 2K and THQ before them, not to say Yuke's doesn't deserve some shit because they do since they do the coding of this cluster fuck of glitches. The entrances, animations since going with mo-cap and pretty much all the bells, wrestlers and whistles IIRC would be handled by 2K. Admittedly I can't remember if they're built by Yuke's from the data they receive or if they're done here. I think the team Yuke's that does these games is also kind of a shell of what it was during the series's peak. Back in the good ol'days when Smackdown series was on Playstation and Nintendo had its own with the Aki games and later the DoR series which was also done by Yuke's and the XBox had Raw or whatever.

That said, the series would probably be better off being entirely in-house since it'd be much easier to over look and I recall reading at one time that there was language barrier issues in the THQ days. Or at the very least alternation between it and another game made by another team.

Would also be nice if they relied less on gimmicks and half baked ideas but I think at least in part the reason for those is because of the ridiculous development cycle.

I'm in the same boat, except I had 2k14 (and liked it).

i need to see more than 4 character models and a couple of leaked match videos.

The best part, when the game comes out for the PS4 there will be absolutely nothing in the game that could even begin to justify all the shit they took out. Oh, it's an entirely new engine..that looks and plays exactly the same, but they changed the ring size very slightly so all the features you played the game for are taken out. And for reasons no one is going to notice.

As if Yukes actually cared enough about bugs and glitches to remove entire modes and options because the ring is a slightly different size lol

I'd take MyCareer, for better or worse, over the Story Designer and the terrrrrrible create-a-finisher anyday. Those were bad, buggy features.

This series simply needs more time in development, and I feel like the foundation they're building off of at this point is just too dated to be much good to them moving forward.

I really hope that 2k lets another studio, or at least another team, have a crack at a 2 year cycle to reboot this series. I know they're contractually obligated to put one out every year, so let one team roll along with the incremental update while another works on an in-depth overhaul for a year out. Look at the technology you have at your disposal and the capabilities put forth by the PS4/XBO/PC platforms and sketch out a new experience from scratch.

Until then, I'm not touching these games at anywhere near full price. It's just not worth it and I refuse to validate their media blackout strategy.

And I'd take story designer over MyCareer, but I wouldn't be defending or liking that it's out. The story creator was a great feature that made an otherwise shitty game have some real lasting value with e-feds and just messing around. My career will be played once and never touched again. if we're comparing.

You have Story Designer in every Smackdown vs Raw going back to 2010 for your efeds. Take your pick. It barely changed from year to year.

I'd be willing to bet far more people are going to play MyCareer then ever touched Story Designer.

We all expected 2K to trim the fat on modes when transitioning to next gen, I don't see why this is such a shocker to people.

I'm glad you've seen the figures, but like I said, the MyCareer looks cool, but it's only going to be played for the 6 or however many hours it lasts and then never touched again. The custom story mode has a lot more longevity than that, so it's stupid that they'd take it out. It's like saying they should take out the CAW mode because most people are just going to play with Randy Orton and John Cena. Probably, yeah, but that doesn't mean they should take out the other features too.

Amen to this.

Hulkamania on PS4 as well, I need to see some gameplay video. It doesn't look like much effort when into the last gen versions at all.

That's a really shitty way to look at things. I don't think ANYONE expected 2K to cut out modes that had previously been in games for 5 years. Not add stuff from the next gen version, for sure. But cut out features? That's not trimming the fat. That's either A. Being scummy as shit to prop up the next gen version or B. Being lazy as fuck. You can't use the argument that some are using by saying the new engine made it impossible to put those modes in because the last gen versions are using the same engine they've been using since 2006. It's the same engine. The same one. The same engine that supported CAF and story editor.

On top of that, the NBA 2K series have had no problem with My Career, complete with videos, cut scenes, and 10 guys on screen at once, all on 360/PS3 with significantly more complex AI, patterns, and commentary.

This time last year people expected 2K to cut Yuke's entirely and create a new engine from scratch so you're wrong, there's always been an expectation that features that were around for years would be gone. It was inevitable.

So it's either "Yuke's sucks it's the same thing every year give us a new engine and developer" or its "2K ripped out classic Yuke's features, what a scam."

You can't have it both ways.

I have no idea why they cut certain features from last gen but I would guess that they weren't worth the investment to bug test and implement when they could devote resources elsewhere (...like MyCareer).

The engine looks and plays exactly the same though. This game isn't like some super giant leap forward in anything but graphics.

And like, I'd love an entirely new engine and revamped everything, but..I would like for the features that everyone have come to expect from the games to be in them as well. They should have used 2K14 as time to do this so that every feature is still in the game. It doesn't look like there's much gain from this at all so far.

Like, if this game is just going to be the jump in graphics and little else they should at least have all the features from last gen until they're able to fully implement them in the next game with an actual changed engine and stuff.

Horseshit. This entire post is absolute horseshit. The way you're twisting words right now is ludicrous. People wanted Yukes gone because they are a fucking disgrace. Fans would've accepted that modes would be gone because of the move to a brand-new developer. At worst, someone might've said "well shit I kinda miss those modes, that sucks," but then the realization that a competent developer is working on it would hit them and they'd forgive it.

If 2K had put out a good wrestling game along the lines of No Mercy/Fire Pro/KoC/All-Stars, I would bet you 10 copies that people would be forgiving of a lack of modes because it would show customers that they know the past games have been horrible and they're going to change. Instead, 2K is more than happy to keep the trainwreck moving and reach into the wallets of suckers. People like you will continue to swallow their shit and beg for more, and the future will refuse to change.

I just canceled mine, I'll wait for black Friday.

There is nothing to bug test or implement with the last gen game. It's THE SAME ENGINE ENTIRELY that it has been for years, which supported those modes taken out this year. There is zero reason to take those features out for the last gen games. In fact, keeping them in would be the most appropriate thing to do since the most heavily hyped new feature isn't in the last gen games. Removing what would now be gen exclusive features is a dick move and a half to an audience that no doubt has more people that are going to be buying it on PS3/360 to begin with. It's insulting as fuck both from 2K/Yukes and from you to portray it the way you are.

I don't think you can say it "looks and plays exactly the same" based off a few off screen videos from the floor of Gamescom. There's a whole crawling mechanic that's never been done in a wrestling game before, for one.

I understand where you are coming from, I just don't think it's very realistic. There were way just too many buggy and neglected features from the THQ era.

If WWE 2K15 turns out to be much less buggy than the past games I will eat my words. I very much doubt it though. And there's a new crawling mechanic, so we should remove..story editor. And like everyone's saying, this is the same exact engine with some slightly new stuff just like every year.

Oh give me a break. You haven't even played it (and neither have I.) The only shit I'm reluctantly swallowing is whatever you're spewing.

There are Yuke's games I like and Yuke's games I don't like. I'll judge 2K15 when I try it.

This thread is mostly about the 360/PS3 version. That version has the SAME ENGINE, theclosetfan, as the previous games. NONE of the upgrades in the PS4/XBone version are in this version. None of them. Not the graphical upgrades, not the new to scale stage/ring, not the updated game engine. None of that. It is literally the same game as last year with different characters. Your arguments all stem from updates from the next gen version. The version all the pictures and complaints are about do not have any of those updates. Therefore, there is no excuse to remove the features that were removed except to be lazy or to gimp the game intentionally. Either way, to put that game out and still sell it at full price, despite being half the game it was last year is straight up fuckery. Unless you have an uncle that works for 2K, your defending of this garbage is shameful.

Crawling mechanic. Wrestling games are saved.

Sounds like a teenager gently shutting their car door so it doesn't wake their parents up because they've been out way past curfew. The complete lack of reaction from the announcers really helps that kid.

to be fair, this game is aiming for realism

I'm not defending anything. Neither you nor I know the exact reason why those features were cut. Could be laziness, could be budget reasons, could be intentional gimping, could be lack of manpower, could be that the designers are 2K just plain hated those modes and thought they made the product worse.

I have no intention of buying it, for the record.

My lord that IGN Q&A.

As someone who has been defending the game here based on the gameplay footage...now even I'm concerned that its a complete mess and should probably be delayed.

Come on 2K.

What a change 2 months makes. The only person in the world who got more hyped the more footage and info came out about the game. 2 months ago you think it is a complete mess and think it should be delayed. People actually play the game and say the same thing and you say everyone is just over reacting, the game is fine, people are just complainers. Couldn't be that someone is just trolling and trying to stir shit up or anything, right?

You know it's okay for opinions to change, man. When I wrote that there was zero footage released and the IGN First month was a total wash.

And hey guess what, the game was indeed delayed.

The version that is released tomorrow wasn't delayed. The version that people are talking about being so shitty and you are telling everyone to just give it a chance because 2K14 is somehow as good as King of Colosseum 2. The version that people HAVE played and are saying is the same buggy piece of shit, but with features taken out.

Fine... I concede. 2K sucks. Yuke's sucks. It's all a racket. No Mercy is da best.
