Sunset Overdrive Review Thread

Finally a good thread about this game gets some pages ;)

Btw. it's pretty funny that videogamer actually is the lowest review this game has gotten so far, considering how much that preview blew up here
 
I wasn't expecting this game to review well, to be honest. Good for Insomniac, I guess. Sunset Overdrive is still not for me, though. I don't have an Xbox One, but even if it were multiplatform, or at least it was on PC, I still wouldn't be excited for it.

Damn it, I was really hoping it would review badly so this thread could become unhinged so I could use a new Gif that came from tonight's Walking Dead.

seriously the worst review that could have possibly previewed. looking through that thread and I still hope some of those regulars come in here and talk about the game since they at least had a passing interest, right?

I don't understand why it would be a problem. Unless you perpetually live in fear of negative opinions. I wish the games industry would be more like the film industry in that they announce a project and further down the line we see it.

I'm glad someone stepped in to fund this IP for you.
 
I have to say, with Insomniac's recent track record I was a bit skeptical about the game but now I'm sold and will definitely get it!
 
Good to see Insomniac back in good form. I'll be honest, Fuse and Into the Nexus severely lowered my expectations, glad to see I was wrong. Makes me wish I could afford an X1.

I just don't understand posts like this. You weren't expecting the game to be good or review well, which is understandable, but then you say good for Insomniac, you guess. It's still not for you, you don't have an Xbox One, but even if it went multiplatform or was on PC, you wouldn't be excited for it. So like the post is for what then?

In the end, Sunset Overdrive is a beautifully chaotic masterpiece that combines great visuals and soundtrack with uniquely entertaining characters in one of the best storylines to ever appear in a video game. The game's nonstop humor manages to keep even the dullest moments in Sunset Overdrive exciting and players will find that gameplay is insanely addictive with the possibility of becoming one of the OD'd!

This is good, this is so good.!!!! Day One!!!!!
 
Cheers to the whole team. Alongside Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive has been my most anticipated 2014 game since I first saw that CG trailer, and I'm so glad that it seems to have come together nicely. My copy is in the mail, and it might even arrive before the (European) release date, yay!
 
Well damn I didn't expect this to review that well but it's great to see. The wait for my preload to unlock just got harder.

Ironically, Sunset Overdrive resembles a lot the weird energy drink the game revolves around: refreshing, crazy-cool and full of bubbles (yet with a not fully convincing aftertaste). In the end, a solid and pleasing exclusive, but not a killer application.

I overall certainly liked it, definitely a fresh and fun experience, and i'm sure a sequel could be killer.
Now i just hope it sells well.
