Xbox One Available for $349 in the U.S. This Holiday Season

If I bother with a console this gen it's going to be a PS4 for Bloodborne or a Wii U for everything else, but that is a pretty attractive offer I must admit.

Someone really needs to tell MS that you don't announce price cuts a month in advance if you want to sell consoles before the price cut.

I just got a used one for 270 that works well (quiet), but I was worried about a good deal like this. I think I'll stay with it because I like the black afterall and I can't trade in the pack in games here.

But it's close for me, 80 bones for no scuffs.

This will bring them on the lead for the season, as lots of people with PS4/old gen were waiting for such bargains. Who wanted to buy Ps4 early did it already. I doubt Sony is going to/needs to match such price as they need profit. At best some promos on games.
That's USA. Europe is a different story, MS would need to lower the price to 200-250€ to get any attention in most markets.

It looks like a desperate move to catch up on sales - I don't expect MS to make any money off it which in the long run doesn't bode well this gen for them.

With that attitude Sony will lose this holiday! They need to counter this with same price or even lower!

I seriously doubt that. Maybe close to a tie in the US/UK and dominance every where else for PS4. Gotta hand it to Microsoft though, they are not going down with a fight.

Probably will scoop up the AC bundle and sell both games (no interest in the series) which will probably drop the price of the system below $300.

Worth waiting for black friday or this is a limited time thing? Doubt I see it dropping much further than that.

Me from the other thread:

If this won't let them win against Sony in NPD I don't think anything will until some crazy Halo 5 bundle.

no way. they need to make money and still have a comfortable lead.
also: this is US, where no one expected them to be on top. so this is a bonus. rest of the world is in the bag and if at the end there is parity (sic) in the US with sony making money it's okay for them.

obviously this makes xbone a more attractive buy for those of us who already have the other console.

but for those who have yet to make the jump...i wonder if $50 is enough to offset the perception that the PS4 is stronger.

Every sale in the US matters. PlayStation Plus is a huge revenue stream and a loss in the short term can be easily off set.

Well, i would like to see them thinking the same and matching the deal.
Would be good fun. and of course "competition is good for the consumer".

"Limited time only", lol.

This still won't be enough to come close to being #1 on the NPD. All Sony needs to do to "counter" this (I don't really think they need a counter) is a GTAV bundle for their usual price.

Thats great. Super tempting. MS wants the November NPD's bad. Maybe Sony will counter with some $399 bundles because then 449 stuff is silly.

Really sucks for the people who bought it for $500 a few months ago. But ya know... once 2014 hit it became clear that thing was going to be price slashed.

In light of PS4's somewhat lean exclusive line up for the holidays and Wii U's $300 msrp I think this could actually make a tangible impact. People always like to call the console wars early, but it's never a static picture. If Microsoft can afford this it's probably a good idea to try and shift as many units over the holidays as possible and potentially soften the competition's sales. They may not close the gap on Sony entirely, but it might give them a run for their money.

Fuck it! May as well get an XB1 now, too. Nothing but exclusives from here on out!

EDIT: Hold on - I'm speaking to soon. Exclusives from here on out...yeah right - lol!

I really want one for Halo and Sunset O.

well you've had it one year earlier though...

Yea. I already mentioned on numerous occasions already, but I would've gladly waited to buy one if I knew a Kinect-less SKU was coming out as soon as it did. Plus, they were throwing in Forza 5 and Titanfall for free at some places.

I'm glad to be an XB1 owner now, but I regretted being an early adopter for a long time.

sunset overdrive is a game i would probably really enjoy. it's kind of the only game out for the system i want though, and it would definitely mean making a ps4 seriously seriously redundant going forward. but considering the price is right (effectively $300 since so is a game i would buy anyway), i'm thinking i should give it a shot. not like with a ps3 and xb1 i'd miss out on ys, persona 5, mgs5, final fantasy xv, and kh3.

As somebody posted earlier, deal is until January 3rd 2015 at participating retailers
So we're back to the "Microsoft doesn't give a crap about months that aren't October > December" already? Still, it would be very strange if they didn't keep the price cut. It'd be bait to get sales for Nov-Dec but throwing their hands up for everything after which is really not an image they want to project. Corporate speak decoded; They're desperate for a few NPD wins for PR purposes and then have few real plans for the next 10 months (so probably until Halo 5). They're probably dipping into the territory of losing money on each sale, especially in the third-party game bundles, so I'm wondering how much leeway they'll get there for the higher-ups.

It hasn't been a year and already $150 less than the orginal price. And with a game too.

Xbox One wouldn't have survived without MS' deep pockets.

The numbers they must be seeing in the board room must really be unsettling them.

The EU cut didn't make much of a dent but this should.

$150 in less than a year. Astonishing.

nah this is going to be permanent after the limited time only expires, probably standalone for only $349, limited offer is a bundled game right?

I think the Wii U is in a very strange situation this holiday season.

One of the things Wii U had going for it was the $300 bundles.

Xbox One bundles for $350 is closing the pricing gap.

Pretry much. They should have done the special this week to not screw over anyone. SO SKU is the first holiday bundle.
