Sony makes a lot more money from software sales. So yes they could take a lower the price to get more ps plus and software money.
That post is a classic. An obscure post from over a year ago?
Uh...ok...
This.
2015 is looking mighty bare and it's not like there's a ton of first party studios working on unannounced games.
Except the PS3 had a global reach that pretty much guaranteed that it would catch up to the Xbox 360.
I guess that depends on their financials. Sony isn't as able to shrug off $50+/unit like Microsoft can. They may decide to let things go however they go on. The system is selling roughly a million a month and is profitable.
Kinda lame that the bundled games are all digital. Generally when the kids open a new console on Xmas they're gonna wanna play it right away, not wait til the next day for the 50GB download to finish.
Then again, with all of the games being M-rated, maybe MS didn't intend for kids to get Xboxes at all...

Seeing as this is a limited time offer from MS, I don't see why Sony couldn't do it as well.

Hehehehehehe, I paid $500 for mine and got a DAY ONE achievement!
:/
Saltiness aside, hope they can sell a lot of consoles this holiday season.

Yeah, but I like companies in desperation. Wii U and 3DS turned out better because of it.Smells of desperation, but it will probably work. I consider this good for everyone.
I forgive you, it's ok.Sorry that I don't memorize every post made by anyone on this board, and then understand the "inside joke" when put into a vague post.
smh
I forgive you, it's ok.
If MS doesn't come out front with these bundles during November and December then I have no idea what they can do to win.
However, I wounder if Sony will do anything to counter this, or if they feel they need to.
So $299 at E3?
I was thinking something along a similar timeline as well.So $299 at E3?
Shots fired. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Microsoft is clearly trying to gain ground in their key market. One would hope Sony doesn't just sit on it's laurels, because MS could cut the gap big time this Christmas.
Also why are there people in here clamoring for Sony to react? They don't need to do anything to keep taking in the cash this holiday.
Interesting that it's not a permanent price cut... Will probably come some time next year right?
Nice to see MS at least gunning for it.
I think Sony could afford to do the same. I'm almost positive their base cost is lower than MS's, and the hardware has been profitable since May.
I think the question is "will Sony do it?". Its going to come down to whether they think its necessary or not. I think that's really hard to call. Customers are resonding to MS's promotions, but not in a way that really threatens Sony. MS gave away a free game for a week in September, thats over $50 value, and PS4 still won the month in HW sales 2-1.
