Xbox One Available for $349 in the U.S. This Holiday Season

Not gunna lie, I think Microsoft has done a better job since that debacle in May of 2013.

I own a PS4 but right now Xbox one would have been the better choice, it does appear they have the exclusives that appeal to me (Halo).

I think the question is "will Sony do it?". Its going to come down to whether they think its necessary or not. I think that's really hard to call. Customers are resonding to MS's promotions, but not in a way that really threatens Sony. MS gave away a free game for a week in September, thats over $50 value, and PS4 still won the month in HW sales 2-1.

Sony did file for certification of some type of PS4, could be an update with cheaper parts, allowing a price drop very soon...

I don't think you understand the purpose of competition.

Sony doesn't have to respond for it to be a competition. This helps consumers by lowering the cost of the xbox one. If Sony decides to respond, that is even better for the consumer.

Also why does MS winning in Nov & Dec mean it is over? You act like this will suddenly end the competition with sony giving up and going home.

Actually I was indirectly mocking the reply that MS is "desperate". It is a very aggressive move, but MS understands the importance of the holiday season in the US and are looking to capitalize on it. I believe they're still at better sales numbers than 360/PS3 launch aligned, and they're making a profit this time, so to say it's desperation is pushing it a little. Removing Kinect and then dropping the SKU by $50 is more like a good strategy to clean up the mess originally created.

Why all of you act like Sony couldnt just kill this buzz by having a similar deal, But they are not desperate to respond like that, KAZ is sitting back laughing( you know like that gif )
at how desperate MS is to win AmErica which before was a given.

Lets look backl year long different attempts all types of ways 180s, nothing has worked, price is not the issue this console had price drops already that didnt do anything.
 
Black Friday deals will probably throw in MCC with any of those bundles or a $50 gift card, further sweetening the pot. MCC is mighty tempting, I must say....

They only hold the pre order for 5 days. The bundle goes on sale tomorrow

Sony's...not really in a position to just willy nilly drop it, though. Microsoft is doing it because they're going hard in the paint trying to make a comeback. Last gen it took Sony like 2 years before they found their sea legs.

Either way, I don't know why it matters so much. It's not worth fighting over.
 
At this rate my end of generation price is looking to be free with a box of cereal.

Depends, as much as they have money to burn, someday Nadella will side with investors. The old saying, "throwing good money at bad money" holds. MS as a hardware maker, could bow out of the console race if rhey keep being aggresive. As a software maker, they got some IP's to entice.
 
I was really hoping there wouldn't be a lot of "They're desperate" or "They need to drop it more" in this thread. But, lo and behold it's all here.

This is some serious awesome news, and should be treated as nothing but positive. As true as it is MS made a lot of mistakes since the One's unveil they have been doing a damn good job making up for it.

I know Sony doesn't need to do anything to get high sales, since they are sitting pretty but man i sure wish they would put half the effort Microsoft is putting into selling people on their console.
 
Dope deal. This will be even sweeter when Target or Best Buy or Walmart offers a gift card on top of that for Black Friday.........mmmmp

What are you talking about?, I said MS has been zero competition as facts npd figures have shown. They have not won in their homeland all year long, thats zero competition.

All of you that wanted xbox would of got one already, price is not the issue here at all, it had price drops already you forgot?thats what you dont get.

You can have xbox at 199.99, but Ps4 would still have mass interest and still would win at the end because the point is, people want ps4 this gen. MS isnt going to change the after effects of their horrible initial approach with
pitty pricing, it doesnt work that way.

Their product is not that inferior. I'd argue hey more have an image problem and I think price might be able to overcome that long as they don't let the image get too bad (basically where the console is seen as failed).
 
What's to say it will not be 300 by March next year...The waiting game will definitely pay off. By the time gears of war is ready, the console will be at 299.99. All kinks ironed out and probably a slim version

But will it? Pacter, grossly misguided as he was, had a point in the September NDP thread: MS was giving Destiny away for free in September, while Sony only offered a Denstiny bundle for $450 ($10 discount). Consumers chose Sony. If the $60 incenctive didn't push xbone to #1 for the month, why would a $50 incentive?
 
At this point it will be pretty embarrassing if they don't win November in the US. I think Sony will do a free game with PS4 at $400. Can't see them dropping to $350. They don't have billions to burn like MS does.
 
Man, I've never seen a Hail Mary pass like this so quickly. How long did it take for the Dreamcast price to be slashed?
 
Good on them. It would suck if Sony and Nintendo did nothing.

I think Sony should offer something similar, or to really flip them off, do a permanent price cut to $350 or something.

Nintendo is gonna have to get the Wii U under $300 if they want people buying Wii U's, especially with Smash out. So $250 bundle of some kind.

Your posts are becoming painful. I doubt Kasz is "sitting back laughing" more incredibly pissed MS have the deep pockets to do deals like this and grateful he doesn't have to given their financial situation.

Consoles that are 'selling well' don't need to have multiple price cuts before they're even a year old.
 
Well, seems they are using their final option, a price drop.

It's already over but if this fails then there isn't much else they can do other than keep dropping the price further.
