PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

My friend's feed on PSN is really slow, most of them dropped the Playstation Life last year.
So, I need new friends. Anyone volunteers?

The mods said they didn't want an echo chamber where VitaGAF can isolate themselves from the rest of the community and kill any differing opinion.

I can see the reasoning but on the other hand the mods didn't stop the inherent Vita bashing. Sure, they say we can PM them posts but who wants to play snitch without even knowing what a mod thinks is offensive?

Don't want to overstate the importance of the old VitaGAF thread but it was the reason I finally registered instead of lurking and I am sure it helped to convince some people into buying a Vita.
It was one of the places where the Vita wasn't bashed all the time.

The Vita thread was the only reason I registered for GAF, I can't be bothered keeping up with a million threads about this and that game and rarely venture outside this thread because of that.

Amen. I stumbled on GAF to read up on sales of vita in 2012. Was even more depressed seeing those JPN charts and snarky remarks. Then I found the vita thread and felt like I belonged here and I immediately joined.

Of course they won't, a lot of the Vita bashing on GAF comes from the mods themselves.
 
Has anyone seen a time anywhere that this Oct 1st to 28th "Spend $100, Get $15" deal ends?

This post makes it seem like it runs right through tomorrow - which if so, I'm saving my last $40 purchase to see if anything good pops up in the PlayStation Store update.

This is exactly my mentality. The mods urge us to contact them privately if we've got a complaint, but I'd feel like such a rat doing so, and how do I even know that what I consider shit-posting or thread-derailing will jive well with whatever random mod I'm pm'ing. For all I know it could backfire and make me look bad instead. Nope, I've never done it and I never will.

Well to be fair this thread isn't much different. Vita is anything but bashed in this thread and there are hardly any non Vita posts here. The main difference is that the old Vita threads just seemed more active. Or is that my memory playing tricks on me?

Colin from IGN tweeted that they got the game very late, so they won't have a review till next week. I'd imagine it's the same for everyone.

I was thinking / hoping that it was till end of day tomorrow, as I was hoping to use Freedom Wars to get me to $100. I know it's been till end of day before. Then I will use that $15 on either Dragon Age Inquisition or Far Cry 4... decisions.......
Might be worth asking @AskPlayStation though.
 
Just checked Amazon and I won't be getting Freedom Wars until next week :(. Damn you Amazon.ca and your "some games have release-day shipping, some games don't" ridiculousness.

Nope, they definitely moved faster - I used to lurk back then and they were wicked fast.

Yeah, it's weird, I got Last of Us Remastered on same-day, but my PS TV didn't ship till the day of release (and until it shipped it was saying it'd take a week or two). I'm having the same problem with Ass Creed Unity. Amazon.ca is a cruel mistress.

No, I'm pretty sure you're right. The monthly Vita threads accrued more posts and pages than this current setup. It's funny how things work out sometimes.

Well that sucks. And Colin's really hyped for this game as well, I'd imagine he wanted to put out a review as soon as he was allowed to. Oh well.
 
So the new Oneechanbara releases this week in Japan on PS4, is there anyone out there planning on doing an OT for it? Considering how it's still not announced for localization so far I feel like a bunch of people on GAF may import it.

I will be! I use my US account on my Vita so I'll be picking it up once the store updates tomorrow, then using my ill-gotten gains to rep mighty mighty London (who, to be completely honest, will probably wish I wasn't :p).
I've already added a few people who mentioned they'd be playing and will try and add a few more tonight, but feel free to add me! My PSN ID is hidden but seeable when quoted (with a note saying who you are, preferably, otherwise I'll sort of stare at it trying to work out if you're one of the near stalkers).
 
So what's the deal with Freedom Wars then? I've watched a couple of vids but didn't see anything striking me as worth checking out further. However the chat here tells me I'm missing something.

I'm in the same boat :); I really enjoyed the positivity the Vita thread offered and was a major reason for getting a Vita in the first place :D. It is a shame that the core Vita thread died :(....but at the very least, the PSN thread is a nice place for Vita discussion :).

It's a third-person shooter with RPG/MH elements and vertical traversal. It looks fun.
 
Put me down as another lurker that frequented VitaGAF before joining GAF proper. The old threads really were a great hub for Vita folks because you'd have people popping in with excitement or issues that the community solved real quickly and not to mention the general easy going nature of it all.

I'm still unsure. Panopticons sound fun (even though Austira will probably be pretty barren) and I am usually all for some fun hunting-esque games, but all the negative impressions from japan and the obvious hooks for a sequel keep turning me off. But might still impulse purchase it, I guess.
 
+1 for joining GAF because of VitaGaf. Was just a lurker until that thread and the Vita came along. I still kinda just lurk. I do prefer the combined thread though. Feels more inclusive.

Played Pix the cat yesterday. Everyone should play Pix. It's really REALLY fun. Feels like something that belongs in an arcade cabinet. Been a while since I got that feeling of playing a real arcade style game.

Edit:
Decided not to get Freedom Wars when it releases. Realized that the animation work in that game would just end up driving me crazy. Hopefully they polish it up if they decide to make an expansion (like SSD).

I'm happy to see that quite a few of you are getting Freedom Wars, I too can't wait to play. I see that I got myself some Toronto peers as well. You are all awesome, and our Panopticon shall be the best, mark my words :3
