I am not going to bother making this into a quote war because the post would end up being bigger than the MGS4-thread (god bless BruceLeeroy). I do, however, feel that I need to adress something to Dahbomb - and I'm positive that I've said this before. I adore you, I'm really a big fan - I've mentioned your work, dedication and posts hundreds of times in real life to my fellow DMC-fans. This is why it really sucks and hurts when you start shitting on my face, which you are (I know that you always deny this), that is how I'm interpreting your posts. This is why I specifically stopped posting in the D3 thread (as well as a few other threads). Although I tend to just laugh the hate away when it comes from other posters, it's particularly hard to do that when it comes from you. And to answer your question: yes, I was heavily into the FGC - I played fighting games all my life and it's been a huge part of what I am today. I've traveled all over the world in order to become better at VF, Tekken and SF (my main three games, Mahvel 3 is still Godlike though). So it shouldn't come of as a surprise that I spent lots of money on trips, "the perfect sticks and buttons" and whatnot.

I quit the FGC, abandoning my own-created fighting game community that I had been actively improving in my town from 2008-2010, along with fighting games a few years ago because of multiple reason - but every single reason was connected to how the community has treated me. It's a shame, really, I think I did add something to it (not only on GAF but in real life and a few other communities). But I digress.

Thanks.

Yes, blame Dahbomb and the FGC. You really don't see how your behavior is deemed sociopathic? Especially after you glorify instances of your manchildish sense of entitlement with pictures and detailed expositions of your tantrums? Your behavior isn't worthy of a modicum of respect. Any shade thrown in your direction in response to those actions are essentially a moral outcry that you could utilize as tools for self-improvement.

Maybe you should stop thinking about how people are treating you and start thinking about how you've been treating yourself.

Don't forget to attempt to physically intimidate the dude you're a foot taller than several times only to fail over and over, get beat in the game of your choice fairly soundly, get out smacktalked over and over and then just act like you aren't a punk.

He's got some legit heeling skills haha

I told some guy he sounded like a loser. Like I didn't even call him a loser. I just said you sounded like a loser "by what he posted."
PURITY WINS!
How significant is that difference?

Did Master Milk just change his/her GAF handle to kasane?

Why you gotta retroactively fuck up my spotlight joke about you being the most lactose tolerant member like that
At least I won't imagine him as these guys anymore:

what a moron

i'll never understand how people rage at a video game. i used to have anger issues and last timed i threw/punched/destroyed something was when i was like 12. that was over a decade ago

If you're over 16 breaking shit you better have a good reason. Like Kadey, family shit I can understand. Getting mad enough to break something cuz you suck at a game? Go play Farmville son

The only time I legitimately told my game to fuck off, threw the controller and sold the game was Dragonball Z: Burst Limit.
Gather around kids as I regale you with a story
*Strums guitar*
So, I just got my Xbox in 2008 and one of the games I bought was Dragonball: Raging Blast. That game was awesome (keyword being 'was'). I was on my way to the top of the leaderboards as I was on a survival win streak. I was Goku(all powered up) and I got to about the 95ish(the survival mode finishes at 100 and thus number 1 on the leaderboard).
"OH damn it's the Ginyu force cool"! I said so naively, my 17 year old self.
So I'm boppin' fuckers left and right and BAM out comes Captain Ginyu himself.
About mid way through the fight he uses some weird move that makes you switch characters. That's all fine and dandy but when Ginyu is arse and Goku is god like, shit started to go down hill quickly. So now the CPU is using an amazing character while I have some LowTierGod that I can't even control since I don't play him. However this results in the CPU winning and my streak coming to an end. Good bye number one spot. That moment caused me to launch my controller (which had a chatpad and headset plugged in) to be throw on the floor which then caused my headset pin to snap inside the controller. Then I went down to CEX and traded it in.

What make this worse is that (anyone who's play Bullshit Limit will know) is that there are these mandatory drama scenes which you have to sit through. It's like if during a Street Fighter match, the game stopped and showed a small cutscene of Ryu and Ken taunting each other, then the match would resume. However this could happen up to 6 times. Nah man. Fuck that game. Never more forever no more.

I'll happily spend 5+ hours trying to perfect Vergil without taking a single hit in DMC3 on DMD difficulty or Ninja Gaiden 2 with just one weapon for 5 Gamerscore and not be phased, but man that game. THAT GAME! That is my "burst" limit there. <- Only time that ever happened.

I only ever got salty at COD and Mario Kart, which are games I rarely play. Unfortuantely every time I do, it's locally so I reflect badly on my friends. Epic fail.

PM me if anyone is interested in thread making.

Will advise for as low as $5/hour.

Trying to sucker people into making the FGW threads? Shameless.

I was almost suckered.

But I want people to read my OP

Ded.

I liked the point Aris made on ATP how online makes people into terrible trash talkers because everything is extremely hateful yet impersonal on the internet.

I disagree with this point. If you exhibit shitty behavior on the internet, I think it's generally because you exhibit, or want to exhibit that behavior in real life; the anonymity/lack of repercussions just let's you do what you've always wanted.

People who are big trash talkers aren't that way because of the internet.

But your point is valid, the chances of getting in is heavily in favor of Americans(and Euro's to a degree) because we have tons of online, ranking, and premiere tournaments compared to any other region. Europe has plenty as well, the rest of the world is pretty dry though. I hope more events and at least one more premiere tournament can be awarded to Japan/Asia because that region is too strong to only have as many events as they had this year.

When CPT was announced, they indicated that they were relying heavily on existing infrastructure (tournaments, content producers, etc). Not only does this keep people from being shafted, but it allowed Capcom to get the tour up and running very quickly (they did this in a year, mind you).

Unfortunately, Japan doesn't have the tournament scene that we have (the networked rankings in the arcades as well as the inability to give out cash prizes contributes to that) so there wasn't much there to begin with.

I agree though, it would be great if there was a greater tournament scene in Japan which could feed into the cup.

At some point though, they'll have to implement region locks, to prevent players going to get "free" points.

I should go get my next GAF avatar ready for the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas theme ready. That said, I really wish if I didn't have to leave before I finished reading that SF4 is poorly designed thread. I already see so much potential. GAF better not fail me. :lol

Edit: I'm buggin, didn't catch that it was a thread from earlier this morning. :lol

Yoshi I hope you realize that I say the things I do out of legitimate concern for your health and well being. This emotional rollercoaster you put yourself through is not good for you or people around you. One of these days you might throw a controller and it might hit someone.

You should not get sad over what I say either. I am just some random guy on the Internet shit talking. If it really makes you sad (like depressed) then I will stop but you also have to agree to get some help over the matter.

Yoshi I dont think anyones hating on you, people are just shocked (self included) that you freak out and break lots of things over games...dont you think thats childish? How old are you?

I didn't mention it in that post, but I did in a previous post. But I understand why things played out this way.The tournament scene in East/Southeast Asia is pretty weak. That's what Capcom is relying on this year to get things going and they can't do much about it if there aren't enough tournaments sending in request to be a Ranking event in Asia. I hope Asia is more prepared next year.

My entire day has been shit because your post has been the only thing I've thought about. Haven't had a good time lately and waking up and reading all of this crap is... well, it's not fun.
I've played a lot of Diablo 3 ROS with Yoshichan and he's one of the best person i've ever met online.
Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate it. Those were great days, let's hope the magic can happen again in the future!

People who meet me in real life, or spend time talking to me on Mumble/Vent tends to say how much of a cool guy I am. It's a completely different thing from what I read on GAF though.

i guess all monochrome anime girls look alike to you, huh? i'll let it slide this time

i hope you got some good rest in

At least I won't imagine him as these guys anymore:

i'm not sure if this is better than people thinking of me as a monochrome magical girl

also, i propose we go to community for the new year

when you guys press buttons on stick, do you guide your hands towards specific buttons with specific fingers, or do you come from the top and tap?

Yoshichan seems like a passionate guy. Maybe he is pointing out an issue with competitive games; the better you get, the less fun you have for reasons that are rooted in the base mechanics or how the high level gameplay ends up being. Many are able to overlook it but a fun game stops being fun once you grocks it or at least perceive the game theory.

This is what I am talking about, you can't take this stuff to heart but you should use this as a chance for self improvement.

Like I said I am only saying this stuff because I KNOW you are a GOOD person at heart. I wouldn't be saying this stuff to people I know to be general asshats.

If what I said made your day bad then I am really sorry. I am not some bully and if I get some indication that what I am saying is personally affecting someone I will stop immediately.

Nah, this shouldn't be true though. Grocking a competitive game should be fun, if it's made well.

Good man. 'Love VF5's customization. The best customization in fighting games, at least to me.

CT do you follow Sunday night RAW at all? might interest you if you're into VF and wanna take part in the Western side. It's primarily 360 but there are PS3 matches too, and people of all skill ranges play. here's blackstar's thread on it.

I don't understand the whole rage thing. Games to me have been the exact opposite of rage-inducing. I was able to work through a lot of my harder emotional struggles because of games. When my previous girlfriend got cancer for the second time and passed away, there was a part of me that wanted to just jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. But I could just check out in training mode for MVC3, make some gifs or whatever and not have to think about things for a few hours. Or I could go down to the local card shop and play MTG with people that didn't know me and didn't care, so all I had to think about was the cards.

I get really anxious about my artwork, and I would even skip class to avoid showing people work that I got A's on, that all my classmates seemed to love. But when 3-4 AM hits and I'm covered in oil and charcoal and remnants of pumpkin ice cream and I felt like I was about to have a nervous breakdown, I could always hit some ranked matches and calm down until I was ready to go back to class. Playing games and posting on GAF about theory shit or whatever is an outlet that I've been pretty thankful for. Having these easily-accessible sources of catharsis is why I'm always able to maintain my calm in real life. It's been a long tine since I can remember being legitimately angry.

Heh, you'll have to forgive me. I haven't really been paying attention to the VF scene much this past year, so I had no idea about this. That said, this sounds tremendous!

Haven't played VF much in a long while, as I only get to play with other Utah VF'er THE WALL, and he had a baby late last year. This'll get me to oil up the gears, if you will. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Depends on the control layout for the game, I prefer 3 button games that let me keep my fingers on the buttons most of the time.

Otherwise I kind of just slide my fingers between the top and bottom row, although this might not be the most efficient way and I've noticed that the way I use the arcade stick is giving me a lot of execution issues.

CPT could of partnered with Topanga League to do a qualifier.

I would have liked to have seen this. However, I imagine the invite-only nature of the league prevents it from being a qualifier (if it's invite only, you have a rich-get-richer issue).

I hope so too, but I think one of the main reasons that there isn't a tournament scene like there is in the US is not being able to give out cash prizes. The motivation for turning out drops quite a bit, IMO.

Do you play on PS3 or 360? The Wall plays Wolf, right?

My "home row" for buttons are LK LP MP HP and I adjust from there.

i asked cause i saw Yipes playing and he seems to come "from top" or do the "hand arc" style for his comboes.

i noticed i mainly "slide" between buttons but i find myself doing the over the top tap with dial a comboes (and probably causes me to miss sometimes)

I've got both 360 and PS3. 'Love that game, I just don't get a lot of time to really sit down and play for extended periods. Also yea, WALL plays Wolf. I mainly stick to Taka, but I played Goh at first when playing earlier VF5 versions. Might pick him back up, but I really prefer Taka; straight monster grappler.

I wanna go to Dreamhack again but I might not have the money... :/

I think if any big US heads show to try and sneak a qualification spot I will go.

Top tap most top players I've seen do top tap. Don't recall ever seeing one slide maybe due to the risk of sliding over another button Sanwa are hella sensitive.

Shidosha is the guy you should mimic
if you want to challenge someone, i don't think icky has been on RAW in a while and I bet he'd be hungering for games. He plays PSN, Wolf, and if you drop a comment in the thread you could play him next Sunday TBH.

I'm of the opinion that games are fun because you get into them and take them seriously.

Just not so seriously that you're punching your own teeth out of your mouth. That's insane. (And hilarious)

But it's fun to get so emotionally invested in a task as recreation.

Stop harassing Yoshichan.

He was talking about the quality of trash-talker. Trash talking between people you know vs. online hate mongering are two different beasts.

Hey asshats, take your shit out of the thread and quit fucking bother people If someone's behavior in a thread is bad, then let mods handle.

I'd never do anything phsyical but my salt is so bad I say something horrible and get in trouble for it at least once a month. It's actually been a problem for guys I train with that can't handle that kind of intensity. Not proud of it but I'm just so competitive I cannot stand to lose. The drive to win helps in competition but has that ugly side.

CPT could of partnered with Topanga League to do a qualifier.

I personally don't mind it but like Casper said, including a event that is invite only could be problematic. Especially if it's a Premiere tournament. Capcom did have a ranking event at a trade show that was invite only, but that was Capcom themselves making the decision and it didn't get fans up in arms. In fact I don't remember anybody bitching about it not being fair to others as far as I know. So if Capcom did it themselves, why not give award Topanga a spot to do the same. That players in that event has arguably the best comp that can be found in any single event so I think it would be fair to award it as a Premiere Event for next year.
