Nintendo Amiibo Look a Bit Different in Final Production vs. Advertised

Peach is a severe downgrade from her dress, to her eyes to her gloves. It just looks cheap. Pretty disappointing and those advertisement shots are misleading as heck.

This is a forum full of members who have sharp enough eyes to notice differences in resolution and complains when work in progress marketing looks different from the final product but now we have people seeing no difference other than lighting or saying it was expected that these figures would look different in mass production.

Build quality was my main concern and it looks like it wasn't unfounded. Link and Marth were the ones I wanted the most of the initial batch and they look the worst (aside from Peach). Oh well, money saved.

Because obviously those are the same people, or that both situations are in any way comparable.
Come on, don't be dense.

Are people seriously thinking lighting is the only difference?? Look at Peach.. It's a completely different figure altogether.

Comparing them like this is like judging a game's resolution from a bad quality YouTube video. I'll wait until a decent photographer gets these figurines and shows us less blurry pics.

LOL

They just had one job. I mean, seriously, how difficult could it be to make a good Kirby figurine?

As long as you don't put the 2nd group in the same basket as the 1st then it's really normal lol

Explain to me how they're not comparable. You have early marketing tools in both cases that look vastly different from and are lower quality than the final product.

I'll grant that there could be different groups of people, but I feel like I've seen some familiar faces.

They all look worse to me, but you get what you pay for. The end product doesn't look bad to me. I wouldn't spend money on them though, no interest in Amiibo, and better figures can be found for a bit more money, if I had interest in buying Nintendo figures.

I understand the complaints but a lot has to do with lighting and the different angles. There are some quality issues compared to the prototypes but that's to be expected, especially for a cheap plastic toy.

How could people expect them to look that good for such a cheap price? Lol. Final products don't like terrible, sure they don't look like the ones advertised but they are still good.

I'm failing to see how these are awful.

I see the differences in the prototypes to the final product, but they still look nice to me. I can understand the disappointment, but there will always be a drop in quality from a prototype to a mass produced product in some way. I think the percentage quality drop in this isn't as high as it could be, though. Which is good.

That yellow piss stand is disgusting. I would never buy any of the ones requiring any sort of support, and I don't understand why they didn't just give them a simpler pose instead to avoid ugly support plastic.

Other than that the downgrade was to be expected. Peach seems to have been affected the most.

for $13 these look really bad....

for reference, the assassins creed action figures can be had for $13

There's probably other things you have to take into consideration rather than just looking at the prices.

Someone has to point that the arguments used to defend the bad quality of the figurines are laughable.

1. No there doesn't
2. A majority of the arguments being given are legit factors in play
3. You're doing more work for your agenda then the people you're calling out.

Kirby and Peach were the two I ordered, so I'm a little disappointed those seem to have been hit.

Lol, it looks like Link's Amiibo comes with a bonus urine sample.
...but this one especially cracks me up. Surely someone HAD to have noticed that looked really wrong. Even clear plastic would have been better.

I get that they're trying to add colored shapes to match the Amiibo logo coloring, but seriously, just make them clear. If you think kids aren't going to notice the giant yellow pillar on Link and not make fun of it, urine the wrong business.

The point of the thread is the quality of the figurines. If they sell 10x more or if they have awesome artstyle is quite irrelevant, if you ask me.
Not irrelevant at all.. its a reason why Nintendo could cheapen out on quality. And its not about artstyle its what the amiibos are mario, peach, donkey kong. Those brands alone are value props.

What factors in play? Lighting? Lighting dosn't have anything to do with the lack of detail and cheap painting, or Kirby eyes not even properly aligned.

The fact other prototypes dosn't met the quality of the actual product, when has been pointed is not always the case? The price when other similar priced products have better quality?

Yeah, all laughable.

don't ask me for codes
Paint variances are to be expected really for that price. Peach is the one that actually has a different expression, which is disappointing. And the yellow Link support is an odd choice.

Of course differences between advertised and actual products aren't totally foreign with more expensive figures either.

(Griffon is known for such shenanigans)

Cancelling Peach, but keeping Pikachu, Kirby, Samus because those look fine. Just hoping I don't get figures which shouldn't have passed QA.
