Nintendo Amiibo Look a Bit Different in Final Production vs. Advertised

The look good here:

Weird set of priorities if the only reason people were buying them was for their photoshopped beta concept images.

Do the same people also constantly walk away disappointed from Mcdonalds because the burgers don't look the same as on the menu?

That's a pretty big quality drop. Do the figures look the same in Japan?

Could just be America cheaping out.

Peaches crown, eyes and the gold designs around her skirt and broach(which looked engravened on ad) were downgraded.

Its hard to tell with most given the completely different lighting and the figurines being at different angles.

I'm not a 'toy person' but when I bought my Wii U it came with 3 skylanders toys as part of the bundle. Never really played the game, but those toys are my only frame of reference as to what quality I expected here. Or they were before they went into a drawer never to be seen again. Anyway, I dug them out again to have a look, and now my opinion is that Nintendo has fallen short on quality here. I'll have to see the Amiibo in person to form a final opinion, but they really don't look good to me.

Why are people complaining? You should join me in thanking Nintendo. Now you don't want to buy them!

Yeah, exactly how I feel.

Not all of them look that bad.

Pikachu, Mario and Yoshi don't look that bad IMO.

There are some details missing, and the promos are obviously hand painted. But you also have to consider that the promors are pictures taken in a studio by professional photographers using professional lighting.... while these new pictures look like they were randomly taken with a phone

I'm not seeing any missing details..
I think the advertised shots are well shot with proper lighting, and contrast to make those details pop.

I'll just hold off and see how they look when they're in stores. Never played nor intend to get Skylanders/Disney Infinite stuff, but do the models for those toy lines tend to vary in quality from unit to unit?

I'm not a toy person at all but when I saw how good the figures looked in pictures I seriously wanted a Fox one, especially for 13 bucks.

Can't say I'm interested in what the final versions are though.

Villager's face is awful :/ Fox's feet look super weird. Samus looks good, but that glossy plastic look a bit cheap.

I think I'm warming to new Peach. I'm feeling that the downgrade was not really as bad as I thought it was. Looking at the comparisons in the op, they actually seem pretty similar. I might have just subconsciously compared them to the Smash renders.

As a studio photographer the lighting on the promo shots is very nicely done. The other photos have shit lighting.

I think I'm glad I'm only going to buy some of these myself, and majority requested as gifts.

Fox looks great. Kirby doesn't look so great in that lighting.

I think they look pretty good for the price range. Not great, but certainly not bad... Still feel like they should have went with something more simple and cute though. Like those Nendoroid figures, as opposed to trying to paint finely detailed things.

Still wouldn't be top end stuff like what some people seemingly expect but it'd probably be cleaner as figures like Marth, Peach, Link, etc or any detailed human is going to look a bit goopy and off at this price range and style. These aren't something I'd buy and I'm not much of a figure person but that just seems like a safer way to go, to me.

False, i just have here McDonald's toy Peach.
It looks a thousand times worse and uses cheaper materials than the amiibo one.

Less shit overreacting please.

I bought the Disney Infinity first batch figures, there are exactly the same quality as the amiibos. Some look worse, others look better. The thing is, I was like 40 minutes looking for imperfections to buy the best one, and they look ok, the ones that were left for the ones I bought, lokked literally shit. Just as some of this ones.
Theres probably 10 Peach's that look better and other 10 than look worse in the same store aisle.

Honestly, that Peach McDonald's toy's face looks more like in-game Peach than that atrocious amiibo.

Probably been mentioned but while I don't believe the models match the initial pictures, those comparison photos are so dark, blurry, they are taken from slightly higher angles, and the lighting conditions are completely different. Would have been much better if they used something like this.

Ah, ridiculous overreaction at the quality of cheap toy figurines. Just like being on 4chan.

People have paid a lot more and gotten far worse. Marth's bent sword is a bummer, but them all being like that doesn't seem overly likely and, if so, a hair drier and some patience will fix it. Peach is the only one I'm sad for the difference on, and I'm not talking about the face. Just the painted trim, but then I'm no stranger to paint app budget restrictions.

The rest really look no different.

I still think Samus looked the best out of the ones shown at E3:

The pose is done in a way where they shouldn't have to add any plastic bases or poles. And there are no eyes to screw up or swords to bend. I have to imagine that Samus is going to turn out pretty good.

I kind of hate that Samus pose. Looks silly and a bit femminen.
