If anything, Sony probably gave the greatest of head to Marvel/Disney to get Spiderman into Avengers which would give Sony the notoriety to go ahead with the Spidey side projects. Amazing Spider Man 2 was viewed as a disappointment and it was recently said that a lot of the spinoffs they had planned like Venom had been cancelled and/or suspended
