Valkyria Chronicles for PC [Nov 11, £14/20/$20, has all DLC, 60fps/1080p+, $14 GMG]

The game looking "blurry" is intentional though, and not something which should be "fixed". Even at its native 720p, the PS3 version looks much "blurrier" than a normal 720p game.

What you can see in the PC version is that e.g. the outlines are far more clear and don't have low-res jaggy patterns. Also, the texture used for the paper effect is more detailed/fine-grained. Obviously we need more information, but so far it looks good to me.

I agree with the intentional part of that statement but I like having options, especially when it comes to matters of taste like various 2d filters or modern post processing effects. If there's a pak file I can get into so as to find the texture open it in an image editor and turn the opacity on it to 0 then that's all I can ask for.

If not well, whatever, I already bought 2 copies on principle.

Oh dear. OH DEAR!

Now I need those system requirements to see if my laptop can run this and I'm in. I'M IN, YOU HEAR ME.

Best PS3 game ever and you know it

I have 1300 hours spent in XCOM:EU/EW. How does this game compare? Note that I am completely heartless and do not give one iota about story, characters, feels, cutscenes, and all that nonsense. All I care about are core game mechanics and systems, and how well the game's tactical combat challenges the player.

When Enemy Unknown was starting to get into the media, there were a lot of parallels drawn between in and Valkyria Chronicles. Firaxis admitted as much and even spoke about the game in some interviews. For example:

http://www.xboxachievements.com/new...Being-All-Things-to-All-Men--and-Aliens-.html

"There are a few elements in our game that are similar to elements in other games, like Valkyria Chronicles for example. I think it's because we arrived at similar solutions, because we had the same set of problems in some cases. And there are some gameplay mechanics that just work really well."

So yeah, you should feel at home. You heartless monster :p

I think I know what Durante is buying his friends and family for Christmas :p

Also looking at the store page having Achievements is a nice touch as the in-game system was great. Also don't know if anyone has seen but Full English and Japanese audio is listed but not Japanese subtitles or interface. Could be a sign.

Well, the PS3 release had dual audio, so I'd certainly hope they wouldn't cut it out for PC!

This is already Top 20...

Anyway, store description says it has Steam Achievements... but no cards? Shame, wanted me some waifu cards.

Screw it, I'll preorder as soon as I get home. Like I said in previous post, now is the time. Start voting with the wallets.

Shame to see the region locks though. SEGA being SEGA...

Some games have been updated w/ cards really late. Evil Within did this. It listed no cards until a day or 2 before. Sega's other games have them at least that I know of (like Sonic racing) so hopefully this gets them.

Already bought, can't wait to play this gem again.

I got an answer!

Gonna double dip for sure when I get my gaming PC. I'm happy for everyone who is going to get to play it for the first time.

Preliminary conclusions:
  • The UI elements are certainly higher res, no doubt about that
  • I think the internal rendering resolution on the PC screenshots is almost certainly higher as well (probably 1080p), it just looks "blurry" due to the art style. Which makes it really hard to attempt traditional pixel counting.
  • A good indicator id the fine-grained detail of the "paper" texture towards the borders. Compare and contrast PS3 & PC.

Interesting, I guess it could just be the art style that's make it super blurry.

Holy shit. That's a lot faster than I expected. I guess they were trying to get a Stealth launch to surprise everyone?

This is excellent news: great launch discount, cheevos, essential options, Microsoft gamepad support, already in Top Sellers...Black Friday has come early.

Damn low max reqs doesn't surprise me, Japanese publishers like to make PC games work on toasters used in the office.
