Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare PC Performance Thread

I'm getting CONSTANT stuttering during gameplay all of a sudden. It was working perfectly yesterday- was able to play on max settings on my 290X at a 60fps.

Any idea what might be wrong? Thinking of just deleting and reinstalling

It is most likely the network. The network performance causes direct issues with the game performance. Thats where most of the mouse stuttering comes from.

You should never have to do that with games on Steam. If the game has a config file, delete it and verify, or let the game generate a new one.

You have to be kidding. They were shady about the PC port from the beginning. The attitude towards them is well earned. TBH this accepting attitude is why we keep getting shit ports because everyone just makes excuses for the Devs.

Look at Battlefield they got fucking drilled by the community for what they did, now Hardline is being extra cautious and transparent about what they are doing.
I really don't know what you're so damn upset about that they deserve to be called 'trash developers'.

And you do realize that there is a middle ground between people who eat up anything they're given without complaint and people like you rabid with nerdrage, right?

And? I don't see how that makes them a "trash" of a developer. From what I'm seeing this is the most optimized port of CoD in years and it really seems to work beautifully on the PC. It's not perfect but it seems like they've done a nice job.

Well, it was the top rated question by far and they completely ignored it, but answered all the others. Not a good look.

Single player:

game started stuttering after the half-way mark even with a 970 and gsync rog swift

and yes I have shadow cache off

Nerd rage? Sure Im angry because I spent money on a game that isn't going to get the same support as it does else where. I think you are overstating what I said as nerd rage.

I've bought almost every COD on PC despite sometimes also owning it for a console. I just used to love playing COD on PC but each and every new version has become worse and worse: sloppy support, unoptimized port, almost no one playing anything but TDM, etc. Ghosts was the kicker for me, if somehow they start making good PC ports of a game that started on the PC to begin with and put resources into supporting the PC version I will maybe buy it again. Right now, as much as I love Mouse and Keyboards for my FPS games I just cannot justify buying another COD when they treat PC customers like 3rd class citizens. If you guys have a PS4 or Xbox One and want to play COD I strongly suggest staying away from the PC version day 1 unless there has been confirmation that the PC version plays well on most hardware.

Getting some drops from 60 to 5X which cause some very annoying stuttering. Lowered the settings a bit and nothing changed. I have a 970 and I'm getting an experience that is inferior to consoles, which is absurd.

It only seems to happen if the cutscene plays after completing a previous mission. If you quit back to the main menu and then resume, the same cutscene will play again but now the sync should be correct.

Yep, having the same issues. It started around Chapter 2 or 3. The first few cinematics didn't have this issue at all.

Anyone else got this problem and/or have a solution?

Edit: I see someone said tabbing out and back in helps.
That was it, no fix?

Not sure if I should get this on PS4 or PC. I play with the controller on PC so I really don't feel like getting my ass kicked by players who use the mouse and keyboard but since there's aim assist, I might pick up the PC version.

Does anyone know if this game supports SLI. I'd like to play this in 4k.

Now I don't fell that bad since I'v been trying to get rid of the stutter. I'm running 770 GTX, i5 2500k sandy, 8gb of memory. Runs fine to an extent then when I quickly turn around when there's a lot of scenery it dips into the 50's rarely into the 40's.

I 'v got shadow cache off, texture detail set to HIgh, Depth of Field is on Normal or what ever the setting is. And FOV is at 90. Super sampling is off as well, anti-aliasing is set to 2x.

Still getting the stutter and in MP it's killed me couple times.

Anyone know the sweet spot yet for settings to get locked 60?

Edit: Oh and I'm using nvidia driver's from 10/22.

Yeah, DD :/. Seems completely busted. Against my best interest I deleted local files and now the installation wont work at all, hanging on "An error occurred while installing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (connection timed out)" every time. Won't download/install shit.

Someone on my friends list was having the same issue. Deleting the game and switching content servers fixed it... well, fixed it enough that he could download the game again, at least.

So help me out GAF? I'm still fully learning hardware performance. I have:

GTX 670 2GB
6GB Ram
i5 3570k

I can run this at max, with 60 fps as long as I'm not caching stuff?? The VRAM is what I'm most worried about. Hate stuttering and hitching.

curious to see what kind of settings I could run this on to get a stable 60 fps

Radeon HD 7790 1GB
FX-4130
8 GB RAM

I fixed the stuttering problem, all I did was change to borderless and active Sync Every Frame. Running pretty flawless @ 60 now.

I'm in the exact same boat, just more RAM. Definitely hoping to see how it'd run. If it doesn't hit a solid 60 on relatively highish settings (or at least close enough to a solid 60 that you could assume driver updates would do it eventually) I might just go PS4.

Maxed everything, game's butter smooth except in cutscenes 'cause of loading. Has the occasional hiccup, but otherwise, wow.

Change "fullscreen" to "windowed (no border)". Yes, I turned SEF on.

Thanks! I'll try that when I get home from lunch.

Did you have Vsync on in your Nvidia settings? Because I do, do I need to turn it off. I found it got rid of my in game tearing, a little.

Anyone know how to take away the stutter in cutscenes yet as well?

I'm running on an older system than that:

i7 860 (3.3ghz)
8GB RAM
GTX 570 (1.2GB VRAM)
Playing on a 1080 monitor

I've got all texture settings on high, SMAA (I think), shadows on normal with caching disabled. I turned post-processing effects off as well (I don't like DOF, and I'll never notice the subtleties of the others in a game this fast). Not getting any stuttering, and the lowest framerate I've seen so far was 55 in single-player. Multiplayer tends to be in the 70s and 80s.

This is a thing that happens with certain games and I'd love to know why. The last game I've played that had this same issue (stuttering in Fullscreen, perfectly smooth in Bordless Window mode) was Diablo 3. I never understood why. Why some games not others? Why does it continue to happen time and time again?

A game's Vsync options will not do anything when you choose a windowed mode. You're forcing the game to render to the desktop surface, so the game is not in control of Vsync in that scenario.

If there's a most common answer, it's that the game's sync to display implementation is bollocks. When you choose windowed mode in recent Windows OSes, the output method forced is similar to triple buffering. The extra buffer often smoothes out the delivery of frames and also allows the framerate to wander from the Vsync limit without dropping to half/quarter sync rate.

Why it continues to be a problem is a mystery to me. Developers have all the tools to avoid the problem. Most seem content to let GPU and display companies solve it with variable refresh technologies.

I wouldnt worry much about v-sync, I'm pretty sure what did the trick for me was the borderless option. I had and still have adaptive v-sync activated on the Nvidia settings, and when I turned SEF on ingame the problem was still there. Then I tried borderless and it started running so well that I didnt even bother to change SEF back off. I think likely borderless is all you'll need. And it fixed 90% of the cinematics' stutter for me as well.

So I'm watching lirik's stream on Twitch and guy he is playing against is just jumping in the air spinning no scoping with sniper rifle destroying people. Didn't even look like he was killing people either in the killcam

Ah thanks, it's confirmed then. Based borderless.

Their benchmark sequence is not very well chosen, nothing really happens.
Therefore I don't put too much stock into those benchmarks

That seems to be always their problem. Everyone uses them, cause they are most often the fastest, but if you compare their fps with other sites they are always to high.

Much like people pay for xbl or ps+ on a yearly basis cheaters pay subscriptions to latest hacks. Theres always wankers out to ruin it. That, lag, guy was lucky or is Rambo.

Not always, sometimes they make sure their benchmark is really taxing.
From my experience their numbers are reliable enough.

Ok, finally finished downloading and now when I launch it it's outputting to my second monitor (TV). Now, my TV isn't my primary monitor, my monitor is. My monitor has the task bar and start menu and all that jazz. I'm not in "big picture" mode either. I see no option to swap it and I'm not going to play an FPS with a control pad when I should be able to play it with my kb+M. Anyone know how I fix this?

EDIT: Ok, I got the multiplayer to start on my main screen by setting it to windowed mode, moving the window over to my monitor and setting it up as borderless window but I can't do it for the campaign because it doesn't have an options menu for some reason. Does the campaign have options or did they just not bother?

EDIT2: nevermind, unlike the multiplayer options menu you have to click on campaing first for it to show up in the same place.

Having both the PC and PS4 version I can tell you I regret getting the PC version. I have a 780 card and can max this thing out on 1080p. I also exclusively play pc with controller hate mouse and key. Compared to the ps4 the graphics diff is negligent (this is WITH super sampling at 2x) while the controller is SO much smoother and more satisfying on ps4. I bought PC for SP thinking graphic diff would be worth it but def not. The PC is also so much more cap capible than this game feel like it's still a sloppy port as it's just not as smooth sampling on or off.
