This thread is at its best when it devolves into perverted insanity.

It's really not. The general social opion would probably find it rather creepy how much the characters are sexualized at times, and I imagine that a lot of people are put off from participating in the thread because of it. NeoGAF is, if not public, at least an open community and I do find it weird how many people in this thread find it totally okay to post material that they just wouldn't (or I assume they wouldn't) in a real life open social situation. I don't want to say that specific people can't have their own particular hobbies or things that get them going - if Korra x Kuvira pegging or Kuvira dominatrix fantasies or whatever other thing you like floats your boat, that's cool by me - but just a little consideration that some other people might not be cool with it and that perhaps it's something that should be left to a more specific community than this one might not be such a bad idea.

Not trying to get too heavy here or anything or be a semi-mod, just speaking some opinions about what I think people are/are not comfortable with and possible breaches of that comfortableness.

I don't approve of the questionable artwork being posted here either, but some people are making it seem like they post it a TON consistently. It's only been a very recent thing and there is really not much of it at all.

Now if you're talking about the shipping stuff, then that's another thing. Although I always saw those as just jokes to pass time. Some people are making them out to be things that those people here are actually invested in and serious about when they're not.

Sorry if this has been discussed. But are we assuming that Kuvira has some deeper motivation? The flashback of her and Su kind of felt like it was alluding to something deeper to her motivations. But the swiftness with how she reverts to being Muhahah evil in this last episode makes it seem like all she cares about is power. I'm curious if you guys think Kuvira will be more of a "doing the wrong thing thinking it was right" kind of villain, or just an evil villain that wants power?

I feel like there's still more to it. Not saying she'll be gray, but I have a feeling it might be more than just "I want it because it's the last city"

Yeah I thought it was obvious she is Muhahah evil. The way she acted in the last episode was very obvious and on the nose tonally. I just thought the flashback with Su had a strange tone as well. Like they were alluding to Kuvira having some deeper reasoning for why she wanted to clean up the Earth Kingdom (like a personal reason). So I was just wondering if they will pull a she had good reasoning but became corrupted by power (or the belief that she was to do anything to achieve it, no matter how evil). Or if that flashback was just a quick throwaway moment only to show the rift between Su and Kuvira.

I guess it was probably that.

I honestly just find it funny. Granted my sense of humor can be a bit "questionable" at times. Though I really don't mind fan art. Though yeah I agree some artwork can and will offend a bunch of people. It would be pretty interesting if a licensed psychologist went through some of the community threads and diagnosed the userbase. The findings would be pretty interesting.

Real talk though, Kuvira is not only evul, she's a massive chump. She should have kept Bolin in the dark for longer, he was her ace card in dealing with Korra. There was no way he was going to convince Su, but Korra is dumb enough to at least stop and consider things if one of her friends is telling her Kuvira is cool. Then again she seems to be doing that anyway, but it won't last once she sees Bolin being dragged off by stormtroopers.

No, you're fine. This is basically the issue.

It's harder to read a thread the more niche the discussion becomes. Tossing tons of random pictures, posting random fantasy cross-overs, pervy stuff and all that makes it difficult for anyone to come and discuss what the show is about. Maybe once and awhile if something interesting comes up but do we really need pictures stating lewd and face gifs edited to so it looks like the person is climaxing really?

Yeah agreed. Bolin should have been strung a long a little longer if not only to cause tension between Opal/Su and Korra. Even if Bolin failed and wasn't useful in that moment it made more sense to keep fooling him IMO. Doesn't seem like Kuvira cares though. Kuvira does all this stuff to put up an image and trick people but in the same breath doesn't give a shit flying off the handle and going crazy and breaking that image the second it doesn't work.

We've discussed tons and tons of things. Most of the time when we discuss something nowadays, it's just a repeat of what we've discussed 100 times over. If you want to discuss something specifically, then just post it I guess. In the meantime, I see nothing wrong with the funny avatar pictures and non questionable artwork.

edit: If you're talking about the gif I posted, I've seen it an extreme amount of times posted around Gaf (mainly the gaming section) and stole it from there. I didn't see it as a person climaxing, I just saw it as a funny heavy breathing gif. Sorry if that was a problem, I usually don't like posting inappropriate things like that myself, but I just didn't really see it that way.

Hey guys, I'm back. I just finished my last round of Chemo (hopefully). It was the absolute worst of them yet. It was the final push. It was really strong, and did a number on my body. I really needed to get away from things, so I could rest and go to my appointments. But I just finished it.

What you heard is true, I am in partial remission with a very likely chance of full remission. I'll know in a couple weeks. But yes, I am more than likely going to be okay. It's been such a long/stressful and terrible year. I've never felt so much pain, and struggle. But it feels like the light is at the end of the tunnel. Sorry for just leaving, but I really needed to take some time off. But I'll be back for the rest of the season.

As far as how I'm doing, I am doing okay. I kind of had some relationship issues with that girl I met, and my best friend. Well ex best friend. I don't have one anymore. Don't want to get into it. But it's done quite a number on me emotionally. BUT...the plus side is, I am going to be okay. I am going to survive. And I'll be able to finish out the season with all of you. I will take some time later today to post my thoughts on the last episode.

I didn't even know there was a mysterious NeoGAF member lol Its not really worth discussing though. I was just quickly letting people know that I'm doing good despite some things shitting the bed.

I feel like I've missed too much to go back and read. Even though I was only gone for a week. Hopefully this next episode kicks off better discussion. I still plan on writing something later today about the last episode. Although I'm guessing you guys have already discussed everything there has been to discuss.

Like how in my ending of book 2, the Boulder descended from heaven with a message from god and told Vaatu he was going down and to get ready for a rockalanche. Thor then granted the Boulder life and youth again, and the Boulder went on to become the champion of the spirit arena by shoveling losers into rockville.

I don't care one way or another personally. Although I would side with those that are more so against them just for the fact that I hate tumblr/fan stuff. But damn I just wanted to say that this season is going slow even though technically things are happening. Going back to the 1 episode per week format didn't help. But it still feels slow to me for some reason.

It doesn't just feel slow to you Azula. It is slow.

We're halfway through the season and the first major conflict hasn't happened. We've had nothing but set-up and Korra getting ready for 5 episodes, heck 6 if you count the fact the action won't start till the next episode.

The point of set-up is to get shit rolling early on. At this point Kuvira will not feel like much of a threat if all that happens later is in 6-7 episodes.


edit: @Shira I'm not about to ignorelist people. Always have found that silly. And no, the mods really have no reason to come here and moderate heavily. It isn't that bad. AnimeGAF was off the rails and that's why it benefited from it.

I don't get the complaints about there being no discussion though. We have tons of discussion over and over again. If someone wants to talk about something specific, they can post it whenever they want. It will rarely be ignored. Also, when nothing is going on, funny avatar pictures/gifs (or just artwork in general) are a good source of entertainment for me at least. The non shipping/questionable art I mean. Main reason I go to the Naruto thread is to see whatever pictures Frog Fu (and others) are posting.

I can see why people would have a problem with woofington always posting dog gifs since they may feel off topic or out of place in the thread, (I liked them tbh) but the pictures here posted are at least funny/cool pictures/gif related to the topic at hand, so I don't see them as out of place at all. I guess you could say i'm defensive about this because I post those pictures/gifs a lot, (again, not talking about the questionable stuff) but I had this stance way before I started doing it. I just don't see the issue.
