New episode today:
Season 3: episode 5 "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak"

When a cyber attack brings Starling City to its knees, Oliver and Felicity are pushed to their limits to contain the destruction. Life gets even more complicated for Felicity when her mother, Donna, stops by for a surprise visit. Meanwhile, Ted Grant questions Laurel's motives, and Thea buys an apartment with Malcolm's "estate" money, which infuriates Oliver.

I think I spent one good minute laughing after that Roy flip followed by quick dart into his neck. It was HILARIOUS :D
Why is even Roy in that show? He's completely useless and doesn't bring ANYTHING to the show - guy must be happy to receive paycheck for doing virtually nothing on the set ;)

He is there for our entertainment doing his flips

I like Roy. They need to do more with him in regards to an actual character arc but we'll see more of that when Thea starts doing Merlyn shit.

This no kill rule needs to go away

seriously, my interest in the show dropped pretty significantly after the no kill rule went into effect

Marvel heroes > dc heroes simply because all dc heroes are one dimensional dumbasses refusing to kill mass murderers that constantly wreak havoc and escape containment. It was refreshing to see one dude who did what needed to be done; we don't have to go back to murderous rampage Ollie, but one or two Count Vertigo-esque kills per season isn't too much to ask for (season 3 is far from over, so one or two guys could still get iced).

In general, I think things like the no kill rule and crowding Oliver's squad with too many people has hurt the show, Ollie went from an intimidating badass with a clear purpose and focus to a brainless Neanderthal incapable of doing anything without someone's help, he doesn't (and hasn't) had a clear purpose on or off the island for awhile, and overall just seems less threatening. Dunno, the tone of the show has slowly changed, and I don't think it's necessarily for the better. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I don't know.

Heh. That's the reason why I prefer DC over Marvel.
I don't understand how Marvel heroes can just kill people left and right like no problem. Heroes aren't one to decide who lives and who dies.
Also, "one dimensional". lol.

We're only 4 episodes in. Who's to say there won't be an deaths? y'know?

Marvel heroes might claim they can kill when they want to, but the body count in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is equally low. The heroes just don't kill. Loki is still alive and he was a bad guy in three movies already. Go back and look: who has Thor killed on the main villain front? Loki is certainly still alive. Iron Man? He lets Pepper do the dirty work. Captain America? And killed with their own hands? I'm not saying I like all this talk about not killing on the show, but both Marvel and DC Comics have reasons to let villains escape.

Of course, but that's partly why Arrow was so fresh and satisfying. Here you have a "hero" (anti-hero?) who did what was necessary to attain his goal and it actually made sense (considering his origin).

Like others have said, I just don't like the no kill rule for this particular version of Green Arrow and I don't like how it came about. It doesn't make much sense that he just nonchalantly tells Slade, "thanks bud, you pretty much ruined my life, murdered a bunch of people for no reason, killed my mother, almost killed my sister, and you'll probably try to do all this again, but thanks dude you taught me how to not kill." ... What?

As much as I liked Slade, he should've been iced right there and then and it would've been for the better. Would make for a more interesting story to if they break the cliche and Ollie admits he just can't follow through with his vow, he is a "murderer." Would make for a much more interesting psychological struggle than whatever the hell he's going through in season 3 ("Felicity I'm afraid of myself, I'm afraid of Oliver Queen because I can't like both be Oliver Queen and the Arrow but like..." ugh). The show has just lost it's edge for me, and this is a big reason, but not the only one.

Except then you lose the contrast in the flashbacks and the present. If Oliver ices Slade, he hasn't changed at all in the last five years. Besides, he tried killing Slade and Merlyn once before; and failed both times. Who's to say he wouldn't fail again and risk both of them dealing worse damage.

Wait, are we assuming Oliver did not fatal gunshots while in Corto Maltese? That'd be pretty hard to control.

Well, in the grand scale of things, heroes of both universe don't get things done. Both are still ridden with hordes of criminals of all classes and cosmic threats that existed for years. From this perspective Marvel is even more ridiculous than DC since the latter at least got the excuse of resetting the universe every few years, so most threats aren't sitting their for that long most of the time. Both are ridiculous in that aspect though.
And despite people like Reed Richards or Batman who are research and develop tons of new technology on a daily basis, both universes are still on the level of our society with a few hubs (mostly villain and hero lairs) who have futuristic technology. I mean, we all know the reason is so it stays relatable, but this doesn't change that it is that way.
Accepting the hardly changing universes is the job of the loyal fan. After all, if you do so, you can finally enjoy the stories.

Secondly, a general DC heroes or marvel heroes are better than the others is dumb. Both companies have a giant variety of heroes, anti-heroes and villain protagonists. Batman is not the same as the Suicide Squad, Lobo or Jonah Hex. Spiderman is different from the Punisher, Dr. Doom or Namor. There is surely a hero for everyone in either company, you only have to look a bit who is to your taste.
Person of Interest!

Seriously, I just imagine a ton of kneecaps
Well, I saw quite a few shoots in the chest. But I assume that they were wearing vests. So they're definitely very hurt, but not dead. I think.

Felicity didn't see it, so it is good. The zipcode thing makes sense, that is why he took Sara on the boat. He was in international waters.

Damn you Ollie! That international waters rule is for gambling, not canoodling!

Also he was't dressed up as the Arrow, so MDK is AOK.

The Arrow: Former killer/vigilante making good
Oliver Queen: Murderer/terrorist wanted in a foreign country

It's like Declan McManus: International Art Thief!
