Sure, that works! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Haha basically. I don't find it very exciting or descriptive but it isn't offensive either. Sounds like a title than any 4th grader on deviantart could come up with. Sort of dull but it works I guess. If I had my way it would be something more interesting, but whatever. Lukewarm feelings.

I just hate when people gets upset over a freakin subtitle...

it
s not the sub you're going to the watch...it's the movie.

it could be Star Wars: Force Titties and I wouldnt care.

Okay nevermind, eagerly awaiting the title change to Star Wars: Force Titties.

I 100% agree. It just sounds slightly bland.

An Ancient Fear was what I was hoping for honestly. Really intriguing.

An Ancient Fear is kind of a weird combination of words to me. It's not bad and I wouldn't have minded that either, but I think this sounds more natural and is just as intriguing-- what does the Force "awakens" mean? It's putting emphasis on the biggest element of the series, and is the first Star Wars title to feature the term. That greatly excites me.

I think when we find out what it actually means that people will be more okay with it as it'll make more sense.

Terrible, it sounds generic and has a meaning akin to ROTJ. It lacks punch, and if the title doesn't have punch it better have intrigue, mystery, or a double-entendre of some kind.

Star Wars: Dark Forces would have been a nice tip of the hat to the fans whilst making it clear story wise it's breaking away from the EU and satisfied Hollywoods obsession with the word 'Dark' all in one go.

As it stands, it's OK.

Now I have to listen to everyone's hack jokes about sleeping for the next year? Can you imagine how bad the reviews will be to read and listen to?

You got me interested. What is this movie about?

Star Wars: The Foreskin Awakens, coming to a porn parody near you soon!

It's a lame subtitle, and in that, it fits with the rest of the series.

This is starting to remind me of the awful TDKR name complaints.

"It should have been called...The Shadow of the Bat. Or just Gotham."

your suggestions are all terrible

When Fluke turns to the dark side, he is going to be on Tattooine and yell at the moon, "Father, the sleeper has awakened."

I have a feeling with all the hype this movie is getting they literally could not release any title without getting a negative backlash. The expectations are just far to high for any combination of words to satisfy people.

I get the sense the title dropping now means those rumors about a teaser around Thanksgiving (or even earlier) are likely true.

Just quickly looking up the dates for Episode III:

title reveal: July 24, 2004
teaser trailer: November 5, 2004
movie release: May 19, 2005

...not like that means anything, really.

eidt:
Episode I
title: Sept. 25, 1998
teaser: Nov 17, 1998
movie: May 19, 1999

Episode II
title: August 7, 2001
teaser: Nov. 2001
movie: May 16, 2002

There have already been some better ones, like Shadows of the Empire and Dark Force Dawn Down or Dark Empire Rises and The Dark Force.

Everybody has this impulse to make everything as gritty and brooding as possible. I'm telling you guys Star Wars is the last thing you want to be super serious and dark. It's like everyone has forgotten why they fell in love with these movies in the first place. The Force Awakens is already kind of pushing it.

Be interesting to see if the drop "Episode VII" in the marketing for this movie. No doubt it will show up in the opening crawl, but calling it the seventh installment might bring some unnecessary baggage. They're gonna want people to go see this and not worry about having to watch six other movies.
