WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

I have no problem with digital pre-ordering when pre-loading exists.

I'm getting 2K15 physical on PS4, though. I pre-ordered Shadow of Mordor and the Master Chief Collection digitally on my Xbox One. Bought, downloaded, and ready to go on launch day. Pretty darn convenient.

Not everything is nefarious, guys. There are options if you don't like it.

I do believe they should give you the option to cancel up until the game is out, however.

Digital pre order is the weirdest shit to me. Like...are they going to run out of digital copies? That's the scammiest shit.

For this game, I agree. But for some games I digitally pre-order because it let's you preload the game and/or have it ready right at midnight... For something like GTAV, that I know I'm gonna buy immediately, it's nice.

I'm starting to think that theclosetfan is BoboBrazil's alt,he's the corporate Kane (Yuke's fan) to Bobo's Demon Kane

Even though it gets kind of redundant to constantly be negative about the game, I feel Bobo's pain. Its better that this game gets as much negative press as possible so 2K/Yukes understands that the masses aren't oblivious. Consider...

-Roster cut significantly, yet premium DLC packs are going to be offered (they should be free)
-Game has enough glitches that you wonder how it passed QA
-Customization options removed with a very shady reasoning
-NXT Mode is a re-skinned Undertaker Streak mode
-2K Showcase is a re-skinned 30 Years Of Wrestlemania mode (have matches, perform objectives. Same shit)
-Information was released very late in the game's cycle
-Not even the menus look different, just have different colors
-The grappling system for PS360 is exactly the same as previous years.

Its like they copied 2K14 exactly but decided to ignore all of its good features. The worst part about all this is some of the people on the 2K forums trying to justify everything, saying things like "Oh, at least we have a new game". People like that are the reason an inferior product is like this is being released. I will reserve judgment on the next-gen version, of course, but its glaringly obvious to me that the PS360 is basically a "we don't give a shit about this console but let's release a turd anyway for sales" release.

Back to 2K14 I go!

Exactly. 2k views this forum and defending everything they do will not help them to put out a better game. Poor sales wI'll be the only thing to fix the situation.

To be clear, I'm not justifying this at all. I agree that releasing the exact same reskinned game sucks for the people who buy it.

But this is an issue with literally every annualized sports game. Go read Amazon reviews for NBA 2K15 or Madden on PS3/360. There's literally not even a Metacritic score for those games because they released day and date with the nextgen version and nobody bothered to review them. I'm sure that was the plan with WWE as well until the three week delay.

If people would stop buying them, then companies would stop releasing them. But as it stands, it's just money on the table. 2K probably would have put out WWE 2K15 on PS2 if they thought people would buy it.

Those other sports games also did not take things out like entire modes and creation tools, have worse ai and bugs, and worse character models with bug eyes. I think most people expected a reskinned 14 and not what we received.

Not that this makes it any less crappy but I'm pretty sure you're wrong there-- just see all the grief Madden gets for old AI bugs sticking around year to year and generation to generation. And I'm pretty sure that features have appeared and disappeared from different iterations as well. This doesn't justify it at all but Yukes are not blazing a trail in crapitude that other game producers have not forged before. Which actually makes it sadder to me. I wish this were some horrible outlier... but it's not.

NHL 15 went through it this year with the next gen version. I think the last gen version was feature complete though.

Next Gen was gutted but I ended up loving the gameplay. One of the best playing NHL games in years.

When comparing Yukes and WWE games to EA and Madden games, I think you should take into consideration that EA puts out a lot of games. For the past 8 years or so, Yukes has been doing 2-3 games per year. Wrestling games, UFC games, pet simulators, movie tie ins.

37 out of their 62 games are wrestling games. They are a wrestling game company and have been so since PSX era. It's what they do. So, they should be pretty good at it by now, right?

1997 - WCW vs. nWo: World Tour
1998 - WCW/nWo Revenge
1999 - WWF WrestleMania 2000
2000 - WWF No Mercy

AKI seemed to do ok adding features on a yearly basis. If people stopped buying them, wwe would shop out the franchise elsewhere, and we might actually get a decent game

No Mercy would get shit on if it was released as a follow up Wrestlemania 2000 today. The entrances aren't complete and the four player slowdown was terrible. I believe there was a save glitch as well.

People love to hold it in high regard but NM had plenty of technical issues as well.

They fixed that in later versions. I had one of the early ones with the bug. I'm sure they offered a trade in but I was too lazy to get it, I think I had a piece of paper in the box to that effect.

Only ever played 2P, but I'm not surprised 4P had problems on the '64. Storyline mode was increased dramatically and the Create-a-Wrestler mode was much better.

Theclosetfan, people keep buying the games because they are the only wrestling games on the market. If they want to play anything up to date, they are stuck with sub par Yukes games. It isn't a vote of confidence in them, but more to the monopoly they have on wrestling games due to WWE having a monopoly on wrestling. You are aware of this and to give the, "well they could just not buy it" reasoning is dog shit.

Where the hell is the gameplay footage? Hell, even Rockstar broke their silence. I mean, the chain grapple quick time struggle in those shaky cam videos still bothers me.

Can't they just put out one full five minute match with some developer commentary? What are they waiting for?

Honestly, adding features or content to a PS1 or N64 game was way easier than it is for current consoles. The earliest Yuke's Smackdown games were pretty up-to-date with the rosters of the time when they launched. Smackdown 2 was less out-of-date than 2k15, IIRC.

They are obviously hiding the game so people don't cancel preorders. I think that much should be obvious at this point.

Well it's still one of the best wrestling games out there along with Here Comes the Pain despite it's problem due to how well made it was.=O

I buy them for the robust creation suite. That's a big problem this year.

If a new game entered the market I would still pick up a Yukes game over it if the creation suite was better.

The gameplay has a lot of problems but I dare say Yukes provided one of the best creation suites in a video game last gen. Well, outside Little Big Planet, of course.

The wrestling sandbox playground they delivered, especially the last couple of years, ended up giving me 30 hours plus of fun.

IF devs are still silent about their game this close to release, there's something wrong. Learned my lesson after the NHL 15 debacle in September

What's today's outrage, fellas?

1. Vowel sounds have been eliminated from commentary. You can restore them via microtransactions.

2. All Diva models have been replaced with Gene Okerlund wearing the same costume.

3. In WWE Universe mode, wrestlers now have salary demands that you have to pay with real money. If you don't pay, they are deleted from the game.

4. MyCareer mode has a mandatory gimmick change midway through the season. Known as the Octoguy, you will wrestle several matches using Octodad controls.

5. Several cut scenes have been replaced with half hour diatribes featuring the McMahon family begging the player to purchase a subscription to the WWE Network.

I do wonder if this is the norm with Take Two Interactive labels.

I assume Rockstar and 2k are run independently from one another but maybe they share the same ad agency and marketing philosophy under Take Two? Apparently NBA 2k goes through this drought of info every year as well.

I remember the lead up to Red Dead being fantastic.

I just...

Blegh.

They've done an absolutely terrible job of showing us anything. You'd think with a delay, there'd be at least new media previews from sites or something. Anything.

I think that's just RockStar doing whatever they want. We didn't see GTA IV gameplay until the first video reviews were posted the night before the game released. They flipped the script though since then and had those great feature videos for RDR, LA Noire, Max Payne, and V.

Just wait until next Thursday. Retailers will get the game and hopefully someone will start playing on twitch. If you have a preorders I'd recommend you cancel though.

I love No Mercy but the entrances being cut the way they were would have a huge amount of backlash today. I remember being annoyed by it back then.
