Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 3-9 | Tekken Our Jobs

It's funny how this needs reiterating over and over for everyone. Not sure why it's so hard to understand that doing good is going to have a better effect in the world than shitting on something.
This have always been a thing, for some though, it took people starting to shit on Marvel for them to notice that shitting on games could hurt their communities.

So... Is Only Practice, like, the only Tekken player who actually use Nina's flapping butterfly bnbs in real matches?

Dan Hibiki is the only correct choice

for all of us

Im working early, if you guys could keep this thread updated with the topanga results that'd be rad. Surprised Sako got bopped by Bonchan....is the matchup skewed in Sagats favor? Id have thought Elenas midrange and close game would be a problem for Sagat.

They call him GodChan for a reason.

He'll still get 2nd tho

Ae 2011 Ken was kinda OD. Hard knockdowns into ambiguous jump ins/unblockables all day. Momochi played Cody during this, while Michael Tan was the top five ranked player in the arcade and an SBO finalists.

Momochi fell into the trap of thinking Capcpcom would buff Cody for the next version..

Yea not happening. He did win Seasons beatings with Cody though.

Pretty much limiting himself to Cody because he didn't want to use Ken and make the whole US feel even more free.

same reason Mike "GOAT" Ross keeps picking ass characters like Deejay and Honda in majors, to make it fair to The People.

What a champ

Gotta use the "'"""OG""""

I'm not into snk that much and I'm not don't know the lore to well but no Rock and Geese in 13 makes me like that game less. I do not care if it would not make sense, they should have just did it

If the rumors hold, you'll at least get Geese in a KOF game this month, and the best fair incarnation of him to boot.

The following month, you'll get Rock ,
In a winpose

But rock is cooler, he has a cool jacket.

He's so cool , tekken just aped the shit out of his design.

UNiEL is still trucking.

This though.

The #1 Gord getting slaughtered by that. I don't understand why people don't talk about this kind of thing happening, "my turn" is a huge part of the game but nobody ever mentions it(outside of a pretty small core of peeps). Not saying it's a bad thing, it's just very much a defining part of the game.

Holy shit what the hell even happened there

I've been wanting to get back into UNiEL for a while and that just makes the urge stronger

Sorry to drag this whole Virtua Fighter guard break thing back, but to further prove that it is a specific mechanic in the game, they also added a unique sound effect to moves that do it, like the Akira examples from earlier. Add that to the fact that, as Shidosha stated earlier, the opponent cannot be thrown during this state, and I think that more than proves that this is just a unique mechanic that doesn't really have to do with standard frame data. Hell, the only reason that they probably tell you you're at +12 at all is just to help inform you what attacks you can actually connect in that particular situation.

Also, anyone that was saying that Tekken should adopt numerical notations for movements is ignorant to how the actual game works. Sure Japan does it, but it reads like shit. For Tekken, I much prefer movement to be associated with letters and attacks to be associated with numbers. That way there is less confusion when talking about things like while sidestepping, while running, or holding down inputs.

It's not like there's no basis for referring to attacks as numbers. This has been a thing in combat sports since forever, and Tekken tries to imitate how fighting mechanically works on a combat sports level, or at least it did at one point...

Yeah that gief was mashing at the end, just wanted to whiff his green hand and SPD me. I was honestly more surprised by the jab than the st.mp.

Super mega optimal Carmine play!

Why would anyone ever backdash or stop pressing buttons with hitboxes like that?

If you watch the match a bit after he loses :P Like Anne said the game is very "it's my turn now based" And Carmine doesn't really have a good reversal so if he doesn't make proper calls and doesn't play his pressure that dominatingly he can be hard for him to ever get the flow going back for him.

That said once he starts he doesn't stop typically :P My brother calls him "cheap" Eddie/Zato :lol
