Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 10-16 | Frauds Among Us

Was waiting for a new thread to share this cool new indie fighting Kickstarter I saw earlier today: Pocket Rumble.

It's a Pocket Fighters-inspired fighting game that is still very much competitive, but emphasizes strategy over execution. All the special moves are done via simple combined button presses, you can queue your next move during an attack animation so that you don't need to be frame-perfect to pull off a combo. They also manage to have a really diverse starting cast with this control scheme, all touching on iconic fighting game archetypes.

This is the kind of fighting game I've wanted for a long time. Something that isn't as simple as Divekick, but still loosens the barrier for people interested in the genre that are too intimidated by the unforgiving path to being viable.

Oh and speaking of Divekick, Kick and other indie game characters cameo as secret arcade mode bosses. The fencer from Nidhogg and Candyman from Lethal League are a couple of the more relevant examples.

I'm a little tired of the whole faux 8-bit aesthetic that seems to litter every other indie game these days, but I still find this really exciting. I'll probably make a thread for it later, unless someone good at making threads would rather do it.

This looks good.

Oh yeah, guys... Lethal League is pretty cheap on Steam right now. You can get 2 copies for 10 bucks. It's really amazing. It's like a FG version of WindJammers.

Caught up with grand finals.

Jesus christ. I've not seen a set as hype as that since Daigo vs Infiltration FT10

I'd play it.

I actually met Zinac and got to play the very early test builds of this stuff at a BADC, hung out out with us after.

Thank you for sharing! I was afraid to promote it here myself. If we somehow get greenlit, we will be able to more easily share builds with players as we're developing the game. Ideally, it lead to a better product once released. I've also been porting FN to Mac OSX too, but haven't officially announced it until it's actually working.

What about Daigo vs Gamerbee at last years Dreamhack? That was a crazy fun match to watch and the two commentators were losing there shit at the yolo DP's Daigo was going for and kept connecting. Of course that match happened the same day as the infamous FSP(aka GAF's very own Huw Dawson)/Gandhi match.

Oh yeah. That one was also great. Although it was a little less because of the relative shortness of that set compared to this and because I didn't know Gamerbee at the time so I was just like, "YEAH DAIGO FUCK HIM UP" but in this case I was like "I LOVE BOTH OF YOU"

Idk if you remember us chilling in Kyle's basement messing with the game, but we had good times. Cool to see the project still moving along.

im watching air on the second stream and he is as bad and boring as ever. he is the lay and pray of street fighter. not an exciting bone in his body

Pocket Rumble already had a Kickstarter but failed. The casting was too much a ripoff of SNK fighters (with a female Terry and such things) and the game has almost no footage at all. Now they reworked their copy and the game seems way better.

This is really good. WAAAAAAAAY better then when they last showed it.
Definitely backing this.

Didn't they try this one before and fail? I remember Sirlin hyping this one up hard on his forums, but it got nowhere close.

I like the ideas, and this is a much stronger offering than before.

Wow, this is pretty cool. Frame data is readable even from the original Japanese wiki since they have nice pictures for all the moves and stuff like characters colors, taunts and some basic BnB videos! They even have some characters flowcharts lol!

Hopefully this make it to Dustloop's wiki before release.

Completely missed Canada Cup. Can I get a quick rundown?

fchamp won a big mm against bee who dropped more combos than omgitzandre
mike balrog as a contender of this year's rising star
blankas are boring
america is free once again in sf4
poongko took off his shirt in the grand finals aka the best ultra match ever
