Tales of Heart R: Reviews/Info

Well, hopefully, he wakes the hell up and moves it over to PS4, especially after the large number of sales expected over the holidays..
I hope so too. Well at least release a PS4 version too. Atlus did the right thing by making Persona PS3/PS4. Hope Bamco decides to do it with Zestiria too.

I almost forgot it was coming. Doesn't come out till Friday here though, so have to wait till then unless it comes early. :(

I don't think it works on the PS TV does it?

I'm" buying this title solely to support the campaign, plus I haven't outright disliked any Tales game I've played thus far. As long as the encounter rate isn't hitting Beyond the Beyond or Skies of Arcadia levels I'll (hopefully) manage.

Well, Tales of games haven't had random encounters in a long time so I can't imagine this'll have them. You can normally just avoid them on the map if you don't want to fight.

I am buying just to support the tales series on the playstation platform.

I am not happy it doesn't have a dub. I won't connect with the characters like I did with the Xillia series. I finished Xillia 2 and I actually miss the characters. My favourite was Rowan and Rollo.

I am going to have to turn off the voices as I can't stand listening to Japanese for more than a few minutes.

I am getting this over Freedom Wars because Sony should know better no to release a game with no dub.

Don't mind random encounters usually though it's certainly annoying that they put them back in here. Especially considering the original Hearts, a DS game, didn't have them.

This is either sarcasm or the craziest damn thing I've ever read.

Disappointing. Guess it's because it was originally a DS game.

Wait, WHAT? This is blowing my mind. They took an older game without random encounters, and remade it WITH random encounters?!

That is baffling.

Nothing about ToHR is because it was a DS game. It's basically an entirely different game with the same characters/story. That includes changing from visible enemies (DS) to random encounters (Vita).

How big is the install again if you get a physical copy...? currently playing Rainbow Moon, which I enjoy, but I still have a 8GB Memory card only with not much room left on it...

I am afraid this will sell out because there wont be a lot of copies up here in the Montreal area...guess I will grab it tomorrow for later.

Ironically the DS game didn't have random battles. Innocence R and Hearts R are the first 3D Tales game to have them.

Really....?

I don't really comprehend why they changed it then. Random battles are in no way superior... :I

A physical copy should only take up a few KB to a few MB. You'll be fine.

I've gotten nothing but disappointment from this localization since it was announced. Its ironic because I felt the same way about the Japanese release.

Don't mind random encounters unless there's no accessory or option in general to stop them for late game when I'm trying to do specific stuff and don't need y'all monstas shit.

I am surprised it scored so well, I wonder what will the original
superior
DS version will fare if it came out. Will get once it's cheaper on psn or something. Still have not played tox2 yet lol.

Think of it like this. When the Vita 2
never
comes out, which great Vita JRPGs do you expect to get ported to it?

If they port Disgaea 4... it's still a PS3 port. If they port Atelier... it's still a PS3 port. If they port Persona 4... it's still a PS2 port. If they port FFXHD... it's still a PS2 port.

So when someone says it is easy to lose Tales of Hearts R on a system full of great RPGs... it's weird. From my perspective, even picking up some of the Vita ports and playing through them, the Vita library is pretty barren for great RPGs and Tales of Hearts R (though it is also a port itself—just one we never got in the West) easily stands out for even existing and not being a cheap fanservice game with (hopefully not) dialed-in gameplay.

So how many Vita RPGs are really going to be worth anyone's time to port?

No one is saying these are bad games
(some people will say that any/all of these are bad games)
, but they aren't top-quality Vita JRPGs and it is easy as hell to overlook them, especially if you are old enough to have played them all originally.

Yeah, I guess this is what I was saying. Most of the "great RPGs" on Vita I've already played elsewhere, or are BC games (like, a good chunk of my Vita play time has come from continuing to play the hell out of Tactics Ogre PSP because it's that good). I was just wondering if I'd somehow missed some Vita-only RPGs, which is what I'd expect when someone says "On a system full of great RPGs..." on their way to suggesting ToHR might not be worth it.

Great to wake up just tp check Twitter and see that they replaced the original intro with an instrumental song. Cutting corners, yet again. Jesus Christ, why have so many games lately had these certain very unfortunate flaws that are only revealed few days before launch? (Fantasy Life's on-cartridge DLC, Smash Bros 3DS's lack of intro cinema).

Not a dealbreaker by any means, of course, still have the game pre-ordered and waiting for it to come out in Europe AND make its way from the UK to my country, but Jesus. I wanted this game to be wonderful, but so far, the flaws are the things that are the most on my mind right now. It feels very unfortunate. I love it how they decided to go with a sub-only release to save the time and money from dubbing the game, but shoddy localization and apparently not licensing the intro song really do their best to damper my excitement.

Added more reviews, Metacritic is currently at 79, but screw the score, the game is reviewing really well thus far with the typical "Tales of" complaints.

Didn't realise this was out already.
Saw it in a store in town today and it was only £27. Came so close to buying it. But then I looked at the back of the box.

Voices in Japanese only.

Nope Nope nope.

Very disappointing really as I could've done with another portable Tales game.
