Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 10-16 | Frauds Among Us

From the other thread. Sorry I'm slow.

I'm curious, did anything in particular prompt this post or are you just trying to rally the troops?

I like Tekken, but goddamn do I find the series frustrating sometimes (which is at least partially due to being so goddamn bad at it).

Just being open. :) Wait til you see what we (the TEKKEN team) are working on.

Really sad to see Mr. Wizard aka Mr. McRib abuse his power again to mold the FGC the way he likes it.

So glad Mike Watson put Mr. McRib on blast last week. Clearly Mr. McRib set it off by getting involved in the Daigo going to Moment 37 event which SADLY MADCATZ & MARKMAN buckled to.

Oh well no big deal hopefully Super Dojo lives on everyone knows that Mondo was the real life blood of LevelUp Live doing all the hard work. I'm sure him and Watson will keep killing it!

Come again? You know you're talking to a guy that slaves for the community right?

Blizzard is the type of company who if a fan asks the following question "this game is casual and requires no skill" they respond with "yes you are right and that is by design".

If Blizzard made a fighting game it would be the most casual fighting game ever made that isn't Divekick.

And you can bet your candy ass that the new Blizzard FPS is going to be imbalanced as fuck.

.

Actually they will argue the things that were complex was just not fun, and thus removed from the game.

Blizzard has an active fun police on duty 24/7. A fighting game just wont work out from them because believe it or not people love busted shit in fighting games AS LONG AS THEIR CHARACTER HAS SOME.

I just caught up with the final. Effing amazing set. AH-MAY-ZING!

Hey guys look they gave Yun a new attack because he didn't have enough ways to safely confirm into things

Available for the price of a summer outfit DLC.
Only works on XB360! Console exclusive tech

Pay to win.

Only thing worst than people obsessed with anime are people obsessed with hating anime

Goes for anything really.
"I hate Big Band Theory"
- Watches Big Bang Theory episodes just so they can then go online to rant about it more.

That's Blizzard in general though. Easy to play, hard to master.

I just want to point out that we've sent Eventhubs submissions for P4U tutorials a few times in they past and they've never been posted, but they decided to randomly post a friend's "bullshit moments" video without even contacting him(I get they probably don't need to ask permission, but it'd be nice to notify them). Thanks for looking out for us EHubs.

ehubs is esports now, they don't got time for vids that won't get them any clicks

The whole Blizzard "easy to learn, hard to master" philosophy is a relic of the past now. Stuff like HS and HotS are both easy to learn and easy to master (relatively speaking). That new FPS is going to be the same. D3 is a super casual loot game to the point that you are playing auto pilot 90% of the time (100% if playing M6 DH).

Blizzard making a fighting game would be:

*Release something that is an imbalanced piece of shit.

*Release garbage balance patch after 6 months where they basically nerf everything and remove complexities.

*Rinse and repeat for 2 years then announce an expansion with lofty promises.

Hopefully they at least spelt his name right, used the right name, and didn't just take credit for the video themselves.

Your first mistake was going to Enzohubs for anything.

Would probably have difficult execution with braindead game plans.
So basically it would be a bunch of Morrigan and Viper characters.

Although Blizzard games haven't had execution requirement since SC2.. HS, HOTS, D3 and this new FPS are all low execution games.

So really it would be a fighting game filled with Wolverines, Vergils and Novas.

I have a strange affection for really broken fighting games. Don't know why the recent conversation made me think of that but here we are.

kusoge are pretty fascinating

time and effort and random licenses being poured into often batshit, unabashedly broken games that will forever be ultra niche

I'm not sure I understand the economics of it and I don't really fuck with them, but I'm glad they exist

Because effort isn't put into properly balancing the games. This is double the case for fighting games based off of other properties. These games are made to get the quick buck.

Most effort is put into making it into authentic experience. That's why you get shit like "You are already dead" death timers/insta kill mechanics in Hokuto No Ken.

I just hope some semi-competent large developer (maybe Blizzard) puts out a PC multiplayer clone of Anarchy Reigns. I thought that game had a lot of great ideas and was a pretty good adaptation of fighting game mechanics into a new game type, but Platinum didn't have the resources and Sega didn't have the drive to really bring it to its full potential.

I had a ton of fun with that game but network issues and the low playerbase (plus optimization problems) really prevented it from being a real game to me.

I saw that post and still don't get it.

It's a reference to what GamerGate is actually about if I'm correct. Anti members tend to say it's about sexism and misogyny whereas pro members say it's actually just about ethics in gaming journalism.

I saw that post and still don't get it.
Long story short is that some so called gamers have been targetting females working in the industry which is obviously sexist and wrong. When they get called out on it they fall back with "but it's about ETHICS IN GAMES JOURNALISM" and hence started the whole Gamer Gate bull shit that clutters up GAF although since then it has been contained to a single thread with that same response as part of the thread title.

A Blizzard fighting game?

What?

You want random moves to pop out every time you hit a button, with maybe a .001% chance to obtain a Legendary Shoryuken of the Hyper Fighting?

No, I want the ability to taunt 20 times and then get a nuclear explosion.

Is it better to have a fraudulent but popular game or an honest but poverty one
It's better to have a fun game period. Honest game could mean boring as fuck to a majority of players.

Going forward for fighting games it's way more important to have a game that is fun and popular out of the gate because it is easier to support it with balance changes later on. Unless your game is bound by a license in which case it doesn't matter if its fraudulent or honest.

Alternatively, you can ignore it like most of the sane people are already doing and go on with your life.

I knew some of the basics, I just didn't really understand what the quote was in reference to since I haven't paid a lot of attention to the nuances of gamergate stuff.

Either way, thanks for the run down of the meme itself. Much appreciated.
