Dragon Age: Inquisition Review Thread

Urgh... that's lazy. I have everything on my save why not let me import it? That side doesn't work well for me and I can't figure out how to let certain choices stick. I didn't die and that other guy still was king (afair), I can't have both for some reason.

1. It's to prevent save import fails.
2. It's made because the grand majority didn't play one or both games on PC or on the same console, so it helps so everybody can have a save state now that Origin exists.
3. Lock items when you're messing with them in the keep.
4. For your particular issue you're probably missing something. Like
not having morrigan have the old god baby, or pissing off Alistair by allowing Loghain to join the crew
. I assure you it's possible because I had the same. The Keep tends to tell you the conflicts once you click on the 'unlock' or the 'allow' button when the pop-up appears (can't recall what it says exactly). You can then check conflicts.

I honestly can't think of someone better to post it. I'd suggest a separate thread for now before the OT. A 'Dragon Age Universe refresher'. We could also post links to wiki articles and lore videos. It'd be helpful for those on the fence in buying the game. The OT will definitely have the info obviously so they could always wait. I guess this is another downside of the OT being delayed.

Id really appreciate this. Not liking the new OT rule at all :(

I definitely need a refresher/101 and it'd be cool if fans could collectively give everyone else a heads up.

Also for those asking earlier, I've written (what I feel to be) a concise and explanatory summary of Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II leading up to the events unfolding in Inquisition. I know many feel lost and want to catch up on the lore to feel like they're on good ground before diving in. Hopefully it'll help :)

on that topic, PC Gamer released an exhaustive article on every choice you can make in Dragon Age Keep. Could be useful for new people who need more context on these choices.

Hi, guys, I'm wondering if anybody who is hugely knowledgeable about the game or who has played it could answer two questions for me.

1. Just to be sure, the relationship/sex/nudity stuff is completely optional, right?

2. How often is there profanity and under what circumstances does it occur (dialogue branches, cutscenes, gameplay chatter)? I know it's there, but it would be great if it was really infrequent.

Thank you in advance for answers these very specific questions.

Still trying to decide if I want to spend the extra $10 on the Deluxe Edition. Probably going to end up doing it since the exclusive mounts sound cool.

Haven't been on GAF lately so I must've missed out on hearing this, but what new OT rule?

And each day will crawl by, even slower than the last.

I haven't played it, but I'm pretty knowledgeable on DA/Inquisition stuff.

1. Relationships are optional in DA games, the only sex you may see if you're not looking for it would be from NPCs... but I can't see it being fully nude: just implied if anything.

2. I have heard Iron Bull and Sera both using profanity in their party chatter... so this could be hard to avoid TBH. It seems Bioware has gone on quite the mature tip with this one, so you may be in for some swearing but I doubt they will be dropping f-bombs left right and centre (from what I've heard, it's all done in context and tastefully).

I'd be more than happy to help answer any questions about lore in a lore thread, Hell I bought the World of Thedas lore book for something, right?

In the meantime here is a YT lore series. It's very brief for each segment but it should introduce you to the general vocabulary of the continent of Thedas (where all of DA takes place).

Since Shinobi is covering the events of DAO/DA2 and their DLC, getting everyone up to speed on the lore up till then shouldn't be too bad.

These reviews have me installing DA:O on Steam as we speak. I only played the first hour or two back in the day and I've yet to really put my newish PC to the test...looking forward to it!

1. Yes. You can technically not get hooked up with any of the romantic options. Personally I'd argue you'd be missing out but that's just me. It expands on the characters.

2. I honestly don't really think there was much profanity. So not too often. And apparently the more hilarious profanity in this title that got leaked will most likely be during the sex scenes.

If it's an issue with family members nearby you could always play with headphones on.

OT gets posted on release date, not sooner.

That solved it. Well, on to fill out EVERYTHING (even tho I can't remember most side quests lol - I just pick what I think I would have done).

I've been noticing quite a few being posted a day or more earlier and everything's fine. I might just post it some time during the day before...

Well technically the game is available at midnight eastern for digital. So if you're on the west coast it could be posted on the 17th haha. But yeah, you can always take a chance.

After I sunk my 120 dollar to two crap games like CoD and ACU this month. I expect my next 60 dollar will be well spent into this game.

It's a silly rule that OTs can only go up when a game releases. For reasons which I can't understand (or rather I do understand but find them lacking). Apparently they didn't like how big and unwieldy a few threads got or something. Personally, I loved the OTs the week before games came out - even for games I wasn't going to buy/play.

Thanks guys. It's more my own issue, really. I just don't really care for that stuff in my games. About missing out on the character expansion, that's totally fair, but being someone who hasn't even delved into the DA universe, I'm more interested in this game for the exploration, environment variety, and combat. If the story and characters are great, then that's an awesome bonus, but it's not really what I'm in it for.

Get the mods for it. Nice improvement on the graphics and you can get your dog to be a 5th companion

Also I guess it counts, but there is a specific type of sexy demon enemy type that has her breasts out.

It's called the Broodmother.

lol

Review looks sort of OK, but I'm still refusing to bite until it has been vouched by RPGgaf mainstays like Sinatar, Durante and Minsc.

I installed Origins to play with mods (which ive never done, my 2 runs were 360 and then PC no mods) and I was loving it (those hi res mods are amazing) but stopped at about 6 hours in because I remembered how long that game is and I didnt want to risk burning myself out on any kind of Dragon Age

Speaking as a DA newbie this is much appreciated. Thank you.

I really love and will miss the culture of prerelease, week-long OTs haha.

If I recall, was the reason that new people felt "lost" when going into the OT when the game launched? Seems silly to me, since the OP covers general info, and more than likely, they could just ask and have their questions answered.

I am hoping they overturn the rule one of these days.

I am curious to hear what more informed fans say too, if only to satiate the desire for more pre-launch content/reading

Yeah, it's really silly.

With the old system new people could either search or browse through earlier pages, but now that's not a possibility. Now you have to look through every related thread.

I saw a couple of people wondering where the GameTrailers review is. I (Ben Moore) will be doing the review and it will likely go up Thursday or Friday this week. Sorry for the delay, but so far I've absolutely loved it. It's the Dragon Age game I've been waiting for.

Awesome, looking forward to it.
