Microsoft: Xbox One leading sales in US since price cut, nearly 10 million sold-in

I meant the probabally sold that much by right now. I figure they sold a lot at the launch of Cod and Halo.
Just think, if they sold "more than triple this past week of what they sold the last week in October (SSO week) that is almost a month's worth of sales there, so 7.5M is not impossible.

You telling me they have over 3M units sitting on the shelves?
They had 3M units sold through at the end of Dec. So it's kinda hard to believe that they would have only sold 2.5M units in the past 10 months.

This is purely my opinion, but I think some of yall are clearly underestimating the X1s sales.
If it is only selling. 4.5-5M in a whole year, then that is bad news for the industry indeed.
Add the numbers up and you'll see. Unless MS is selling close to 3/4 of what it sells in NA in the over seas markets, there's no way they're close to what you think they are. We have NPD numbers and we know they aren't doing squat WW outside of the UK. Where are these mystery consoles going to you think?

Don't worry it never goes away... I'm similar to you and I'm 47 now and still enjoy a good debate!

Good to know. Hope I stay feeling the same then :D

Fuck me, they need to make this game. 3 random people matched up. 1 moderator and 2 debators. Random debate topic chosen.

Haha, there's actually a game called "SJ Warrior" or something like that and it's largely comprised of two sides debating their viewpoints to try to subtract HP and sanity from the person.

I bet it could be expanded

Where's that ancient Gahiggidy gif about the forum post? You know the one where it's like an NES game about his forum posting? That shit was hilarious.

I think the surge in sales is due to all the bundled software. Otherwise the 'right' price would be about $100 off.

This is a good point. The regular SKU is not outselling the PS4. It's the bundle games. How long can MS keep bundling everything? Are they going to be doing this for the entire generation? So technically we haven't seen what a standard $350 SKU can do against PS4.

If they keep the price the same next year I think it will have the same affect as the $399 price. I want to see how many bundles they do in 2015. Cause that seems to be the only way to complete with PS4.

When you say "MS's bullshit", are you mainly referring to the parity clause? Or is there more going on behind the scenes as well that is making things hard on devs?

I am talking only about the parity clause, as their relations team is fantastic and everything about their indie program is really great. It's just the damn parity clause that's screwing everything up.

This SJ Warrior thing sounds incredible, lol.

To sum it up, Microsoft managed to triple Xbone sales in the USA in the first week of their current sale compared to the week prior to the sale (when hardly anyone bought an Xbone because everybody who wanted one was waiting for the sale to start). And they currently have less than 10 million Xbones shipped to retailers worldwide.

Is it not obvious that today's media likes to dwell on the cons and not so much the pros? If a Ferrari catches on fire, and is caught on tape, it makes the front page of car websites. The other 5000 458s that didn't catch on fire are ignored.

Are there problems with the game? Yes. Is it broken? No.

I'm confused as to why you would make this analogy. Cars that catch fire have to potential to kill someone. If I was going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a vehicle, I would like to know if there's some error in manufacturing that could result in an extremely painful death.

This applies to games as well (Want to know pros and cons if I'm spending money), albeit less so.

Well, to be scientific, the Ps4 smelled like this;

The Xbone smelled like this;
(Believe it or not its using a different kind of plastic)

So, if you work out these formulas in a lab, you will see that the Ps4 and the Xbone smell different! (This only applies to the white xbone, not the black xbone, which i assume smell different).

That's hawt. Only thing better than the smell of new electronics is maybe the smell of old books.

You are not getting quality over quantity. You are getting less games because less indies can put up with MS's bullshit.

The few games on XB1 are of variable quality, much like PS4's indies. So let's not pretend XB1 is getting a sliver of rich indie delicious because MS is carefully curating games. They will take any game they can get their hands on. Indies just aren't biting.

Ah, ok. so the best Thing would be, if Microsoft would just drop that parity clause. Free Unity and free devkits is a good first step. The only Thing that is missing is the removal of the parity clause.
Maybe they will drop it. I don't know. But the mass of Gamers seriously won't care... I just hope some day indie games get the respect and Attention they deserve. I had a LOT of more fun with indie games, than with retail titles, lately...
Resogun was great! (reminded of super stardust HD on PS3 can't wait for the successor) can't wait for RIME, too. Can't believe Microsoft passed on rime... smh

Anyway, BTT. the NPD results will Show, what all this PR Crap ACTUALLY means, without all this Spinning-nonsense

Then I hope you only use a bicycle as a mode of transportation because every single car model ever made has caught fire at one point or another.

What does it smell like? What did the PS4 smell like? My Titatfall Xbone box barely smelled like anything at all :(

My PS3 and 360 boxes smelled freaking great when cracked open.

N64 games, now those had a great smell. Better than SNES in my opinion.

Please be detailed and answer before someone shits all over your Xbone purchase and ruins the high.

I put my controller back in the plastic sometimes to keep that new smell. When i first opend the box.....oh my. But the smell is slowly going away. :(

Every single car model ever made has a manufacturing defect that causes it to catch fire? Every single one, in the history of automobiles? No. I think not.

gotta say i thought i couldnt get more shocked after watching this Borgia episode last night where this dude
get sawed off from his taint? to the head, virtually cutting him in half or this dude getting a Pope's Pear in his ass
until i refreshed my tablet and saw it blew from 2 pages to 15.

i quickly went through the thread and boy im shocked to the core to think some super spin would get so many meltdowns lol.

http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/tes...-shield-and-aluminum-deflector-plates-model-s

Written by the CEO/Owner himself. Perception is reality, 1 out of 8000 Teslas have a chance of catching on fire. A regular gasoline car has a better chance, but Tesla had to make a statement. Their stock price was hit hard by this perception.

Alright, so how does this comparison work becuase every ps4 is going to be running the exact same code and inevitably those users are going spend a lot of their time in the low 20s for fps anytime they go near a crowd?

I already stated in another post that maybe the performance gap is larger than I expected between the x1 and ps4 versions. My experience with the X1 version has been pretty good thus far, obviously I can't speak towards the PS4 version but I didn't think it would be that bad. Apparently I'm wrong, and if that's the case, Ubisoft really did fuck up.

Not to mention, the post I was referring to was stating that xbox one was bundled with two broken games (Black Flag and Unity). I was simply stating that I don't believe that's the case.

And then factor in the obscenely deceitful PR they've been releasing every month for the past 6 about how their XBO is performing, and it adds the cherry on top.

Oh cmon the spin is hilarious and fun for the whole family. Who is this going to sway anyway? Particularly dim bandwagoners?

I have my own TV guide shit that is five hundred infinity times superior to XBO, so the feature is useless to me and I won't be using it when I do get my XBO.

My DVR Guide is shit compared to Xbox One, but then I only ever really watch sports and not that often until basketball playoffs.

No. They say they are about to have shipped[/I] 10 million Xbox One's to retailers.

"Shortly". It's the new Soony.

Not even that. They have shipped less than 10 million to retailers at this point.

I stand corrected. Thank you both. Ah, I see it was Yusef who wrote the press release. That explains everything.

Edit: I really want to know what their sell-through numbers are. It has to be bad considering how they're swinging for the fences this holiday season.

I'm still holding off on mine. I may pull the trigger for Xmas if the money is there for the H5 beta, but the MCC online being a turd ferguson doesn't have me set to drop green backs on black friday even though I'd like to.

I wish that Kohl's deal came back. Then it'd be a no brainer haha.

I'd wager both are going to be over 1 million units sold in Nov and Dec.

Is BF counted for Nov or Dec this year?

I'd wager MS takes November by at the max of 200K units over PS4. At the absolute maximum. Both will show a very healthy market. WiiU might get up to 500k units in November this year!

why dont you instead complain on the sony program, where they offer indies promotion and assistance and in return ask for time exclusivity?

or this offer has changed since last time I was in such a discussion here?

one practice (ms) is bad, while other (sony) is good?

I mean, last time I spent ten minutes on the subject, I clearly remember reading indies saying that ms support is far better than sony support.

so, in order to get better support from sony and maybe a window in the sun on sony's console advertisement space (also offered together with the better support offer), indies are asked to provide time exclusivity in return.
then, the same indie devs might complain that they hate ms same release time requirement.

really?

this does not make sense for me. I think it never will.

What is this based on?

What is this based on?
When an indie developer temporarily associates themselves with Nintendo or Sony they do it because those publisher will otherwise not meaningfully feature them on their storefront.

When they associate themselves with Microsoft they do it because Phil Spencer wore a nice t-shirt the last time they saw him.

as I wrote, based on previous months discussion about same subject.
thats why I also asked if this offer has changed in any way since last time.

Ive never even heard that argument since during PSN's early days on PS3.
Ever since the new consoles all I have heard from indies is how night and day the relationship has been between MS and Sony. I mean it seemed for a while every indie on twitter was only talking about being associated with Sony.

Isn't Sony's offer better for indies? They get promotion in exchange for timed exclusivity. The indies benefit out of that.

Why doesn't Microsoft offer the same deal rather than attempting to punish them for not releasing on their platform first or at the same time as other platforms.

I think hes referring to some one of comment about how ms gives more tools (free unity or something like that) but yeah somehow ignores how indies after indies have come out and said ms parity clause is bad. How they've praised sony and its approach and support again and again etc. But well this thread is going to turn entertaining soon so im going to just wait and watch :)

I think you got the facts wrong, there were indies that had to seek out exclusivity clauses with Sony because of the parity clause:

"Microsoft was doing reach-out to certain developers back in the early days of ID@XBOX, and we discussed potentially bringing Nuclear Throne to Xbox One with them," Ismail says. "There had been mentions beforehand that there was a launch parity clause in the contract, with the exception of games that were already signed to another platform during the announcement of their self-publishing program. Thus, before we signed with Microsoft, we e-mailed Sony that we quickly wanted to sign Nuclear Throne with them with a month of exclusivity."

It's a good thing you sourced this!!

There's a myriad of reasons why Xbox doesn't resonate as strongly in other countries like it does in America but that's not the reason I brought it up. It was more to address your doubt that PS can maintain a 2:1.

You talked about "everything microsoft has done and will do". Well, most of that has been in America and that's why it's not unfathomable that PS retains the 2:1 ratio. Remember, PS3 being the loser of last generation still managed to ship over 5 million units in the holidays. It should easily accomplish more as the market leader.

I would not call the Ps3 the loser of last generation. I say the Wii is the winner, and 360 & Ps3 tied. They're both sitting at around 80 million units sold. Sure the 360 sold a few million more, but what's a few million when we're talking tens of millions of consoles?
