Huh I just realized I engaged in character switching behaviour too, and it was intentionally disrespectful. I guess the answer maybe is to just quit playing at that point in time.

Edit: But not to my opponents.

I thought tournaments already had a "choose your main and one or two subs" rule. If you don't want people switching it would be a good idea to have that rule laid out before hand I think.

Rules are usually created for situations that have already occurred at least once so I'm guessing it was unexpected.

I mean I don't know what you want me to say. You know what you've done, you had this same conversation before back when you got kicked from Dustloop and it appears you haven't changed much. If a community decides you're unwelcome after trying to talk it out with you, after giving you multiple warnings, I dunno what to say. That's done with though. I'm just pointing out your play still seems to suffer from the same mindset.

Anyways, I'm going to bed. Catch me at a tournament.

I... I'm not actually sure what you're talking about anymore. Are you just making stuff up now? "Kicked from Dustloop?" "Unwelcome after trying to talk it out with you, after giving you multiple warnings?" Well, I guess you were making stuff up before to fit your narrative, so that's about right. When people are telling me I shouldn't do something, I stop doing it. I don't even know what warnings you're talking about. Again: stop spreading false bullshit about me. It's making me want to cry or something.

And I don't go to tournaments... I already said I can pretty much just play online.

You were banned from Token's tournaments hosted through Dustloop due to disrespectful conduct after being given multiple warnings and talked to a few different times. I remember having to scrub your argument with another player off the site. You weren't kicked from the site but you were banned from entering the main set of P4U netplay tournaments that were hosted there.

I'm not spreading false bullshit. If you're really upset about it then we can drop it here.

If someone somehow suckered me into a FT10 and I'm up 8 games or whatever, you better believe I'm gonna dick around with alt characters. At that point it's not like I think you can beat me anyways.

No, I'm not going to drop it here because you are publicly spreading false bullshit about me, and that's one thing I'm not really into.

There were no warnings; what are you talking about? I was character switching during that FT10. People were mad about that. The TO personally insults me after the FT10 is done; I insult the TO. Boom, banned! That's how it went; prove it if you claim otherwise. Oh, afterwards I made a long post on the forums about how I was being disrespected (irony) by everyone without anyone actually telling me what I was doing wrong. People were more content to fling insults and lies about how I apparently act (even though I never spoke to anyone there), kinda like now.

Oh, and I think you might be referring to a Skype chat I had with another player; so he was relaying what I was saying to you, huh? I don't even know for how long the ban lasted since I pretty much decided to avoid any of those tournaments because of how poisonous the TO and commentators were, but I'll take your word for it on the duration.

Depends on the person

I got ripped to shreds once for playing Solo Squigs for fun instead of using my real team which was overkill. There was a lot of drama that day on skullgirls IRC.

I guess its just me, but I hate that shit. Unless I actually know the dude and they do that, I generally think its just an assholish thing to do. At that point you're just wasting the other guys time that might actually want to learn the mu.

No, it was an argument that happened on a thread after a tournament where you decided to keep trying to IK in finals. Again. In exhibitions and tournaments you got chewed out and told you would be banned a few times. If you're one of the only players to end up banned while many others entered and were just fine, probably a problem with you.

I'm not playing he said she said with you all night, I have better things to be doing (like sleeping). I already said my piece on you, and that's it.

Oh yeah! http://www.dustloop.com/forums/inde...sn-singles-tourney-march-30th-2014-4pm/page-2

I tried to perform Shadow Labrys' IK at some point because I tried to win a match. That one wasn't even for fun; it was because I was trying to get the win efficiently (though I always sucked with her IK combos). Um... just so you know, Slab's IK combos in P4A were legit (ask Bananaken), so it was just something more to pile on because of the way I play. People like to freak out when someone's trying to perform an IK as this ultimate form of disrespect or something, but with 100 meter and a Burst, that was an actual tactic in that game, which people seemed happier to ignore instead of acknowledging. I couldn't pull it off, though... so people, naturally, transformed it into it meaning that I was trying to be an asshole.

Legit is using OMB and performing a guaranteed kill combo into the IK. What's not legit is popping IK because you're so far ahead and flailing about trying to catch a dude with it. It's not legit when you do that for the 100th time in an organized event. Again this is the same conversation from last time and you're acting the same foolish way.

Edit: And I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe you went for the combo and dropped it. But even then after your repeated pattern of behavior you should have known better.

I actually don't remember the details of that match, but the issue was that I didn't do it right?

I don't remember having a conversation with you on this ever, and I also don't see how I'm being foolish right now, but taking issue with mistakes I make or "flailing about" in a match and using it as a basis to personally insult me is where I draw the line.

I do a lot of dumb stuff in FGs; I'm not like you or your friends who play perfectly or know what to do under whatever circumstances in a game. I don't really have the opportunity to go to locals and discuss means to really refine my game. This is why my fundamental problem is I play with "netplay tactics." The kind of methods that you obviously take issue with. I am reckless and dumb as hell when I play, and that's always been the case, and I've never denied this. It's fun, but I don't really approach things with a game plan. If I'm open to do something and there's a chance it might work, I'll rush in to do it.

This isn't me being disrespectful. This isn't me thinking I'm better than I am. If nothing else, can you at least please get that from this discussion and stop trying to pseudo-analyze my style of play as though I'm some mastermind who's doing everything with deliberate meaning behind it? I play like a crazy person, and that's the style I've adopted by only being able to play online, which I do a ton. I'd like it if you guys didn't look at how I played and acted as though I were some experienced dude playing at a local.

Edit: And I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe you went for the combo and dropped it. But even then after your repeated pattern of behavior you should have known better.

Boom, that's what I'm talking about: I don't. I do things over and over again, even if they don't work, because it might work at some point and, when it does, it'll be awesome. That's my mindset, and that's my playstyle. It's not something to personally insult someone over... well, unless it's about how I play, in which case I'm guilty as charged.

You carry yourself and talk like a well informed player, and you did enter online events and I think one offline event?(UMAD? My memory is fuzzy, could be wrong on that) So when you play like that and act like that after it was pointed out to you, that's just how people interpret it.

Like I'll let you say that's just how you play, and you can rock like that. That's cool! But if I or a decent number of players familiar with you are asked how you play, we're going to say you play in a super disrespectful and arrogant manner. That's honestly how your play has been seen, whether you see it like that or not.

Again, sorry if I'm really upsetting you but you have kept the conversation going. I'll stop whenever, been wanting to but it keeps on going.

That works on a small scale, but you can't do that on a large scale. Disrespectful-type players are usually free to turtling.

Ultimately, if a community doesn't like how a person is playing, the best way to deal with it is make them go 2 and out every time.

You two should settle this in some sort of bet match.

I'm the sort of person who wants my opponent in their sunday best if I'm fighting them seriously. It gives me such a feeling of accomplishment when I finally get that win, I think my last set was like 2-30. But damn that 2 felt great!

I think we're done. It was really upsetting me, because it was about a bunch of stuff that isn't true about me or my approach to FGs, and I hate that shit. But I can pretty much accept whatever most people will describe my style as, since it's probably accurate in terms of how I play. However, it's when people try to then talk as though they know me or how I act, when I actively avoid talking to other players ever, that I get annoyed.

I'm always trying to improve, of course, reading other people's advice when they have some for me. One thing's for sure, though: I'll never change the way I play if it means that I have less fun with the game*.

*In casual settings. I've been playing more seriously in recent online tournaments I've participated in.

I like using a billion characters in whatever games I play. Nobody is going to stop me from using whoever whenever, not even crybabies on forums who complain of counter picking.

Project M 3.5 <3

Just downloaded it. Having a lot of fun with it at the moment. Will post my videos on it later. Check out the costumes!

I'm loving the sparks so much. Made another gif.

Same. I play as many characters as I can. I can play(some better than other) all the characters in Smash Bros, Tekken, Street Fighter, Skullgirls, Killer Instinct (to name a few) because I enjoy the games that much. Yeah I have my mains but being able to switch to another completely different character and be confident with them is pretty satisfying. It's not an insult, it's fun.
That being said, from what I've seen at tournaments like the stuff ChrisG has pulled, I get how it can be seen as insulting or even "offensive" to some.

I had one of the irritating matches yesterday. I was at a mate's house playing TTT2, and this dude mentioned he played tekken and came in the room and I was like "want a game?" and he starts off with "yeah but I don't play on stick so fuck that" or something, and there was a controller plugged in so I point that out and he joins in, then he realises its TTT2 and starts complaining about that version for some reason, then I point out he can use one character so he does, I picked tag mode and he complains about that. Then I picked cappos and he complains about that, says they're banned in tournaments (!) and after the first game we go straight into the 2nd without going back to the character select, he complains that he wants to switch characters after every match, he complains that the game must be frozen when he needs to choose an option at the end of a match, then at the end of this 5 minute session he complains that his hands are cramping up and he needs to take a break. My. fucking. god.

Marvel exhibitions are coming up on Absolute Battles.

Watching Ultra archives of FourWude v. Integra. This is free. WTF this is so free.
Aaand as I write this stops being free. Yay.

I find it weird how GAF can talk about how important it is for gaming to be politically correct and inclusive until the internet ceases to exist, but there is an entire thread with people defending the notion of forcefully placing your digital nuts in another person's mouth. You would think people would have some kind of consistency in their perspective.

Political correctness can go die in a fire as far as I'm concerned.

EXVS almost three years. However my execution is bad in certain instances because those instances don't come up often enough as the game doesn't favor them and my meta is suffering because I am engaging in a style I have never practiced before.

Fair enough, I am dodging studying games and using my in experience as an excuse. However I still feel like it's true in my case as I don't think I have even the basic understanding of 2d fighters. Like say Training mode, which I spent more time with than live matches made me pay attention to my character more while in live matches its probably more important to pay attention to the opponent. That shift in focus might or might not be important but either way it's not something I considered or thought about for a long time.

You just have to play a lot. Practice is great and necessary, but you have to get those actual matches under your belt.

Arcade rules -- keep playing the same character until that character is beaten. Ask if it's okay to change if you want to. A lot of people usually want that run back to learn the match.

Thiss. x10.

Well... that's why you don't invite LowTierGod to your friends house.

Cappos = Metaknight X Gil

As an aside, is changing characters on someone genuinely considered to be a disrespectful act? Unless it's someone that specifically asked me to play a character so that they can learn a matchup I generally like to switch characters every 10 or so matches to keep things fresh for myself, especially if the matches are really one sided in either direction.

I have a friend who is much more experienced than me in the game we were playing, plays a very gimmick heavy trolly style and switches characters after every single game.

I don't know if i'd call it disrespectful ... but I don't like things like that. (Though it got me motivated to try harder so there's that.)

If it's a casual set, then sure I agree. But if it's a FT10 or whatever, then you're already wasting the dude's time if he's up 8-nothing. Why not mess around if you know you're not gonna be affected by a couple of losses?

Dunning-Kruger and scrubdom. What a beautiful combination <3

I don't know anything about this whole anime situation, but man I feel like I'm pretty solidly on flux's side here. Even if he was doing all this shit intentionally to be rude, who cares if you can't beat him? Learn the game and come back to put him in his place. Nobody ever tells FChamp he can't show up to the next tournament because he acted like a dick.

I can't be the only person here who got trolled constantly and laughed out of the arcades when they first started playing. Even now I'm still pretty bad but coming back over and over to prove that I'm learning is a huge part of the fun.

I'm kind of with God's Beard- if somebody is goofing around in the game and still bodying you, get better and body them back. Of course, if they're doing stuff like sending hate messages or something like that, that'd obviously be unacceptable, but in the game itself, I feel like all's fair in love and war or something.

Justin is telling old school stories. One of this is something about Floe living a sheltered life and not seeing black people until 12. LOL.

My fligga

I never really taunt anyone

But when I do I pick taunt 2 with Ken because it low profiles some attacks

I did it once and dodged a bison st hk and punished with sweep

Whenever someone taunts me, I always taunt back.
It doesn't matter how badly I'm losing, if someone's making fun of me, or if someone's basically giving up (this never happens).

I mean in Guilty Gear, it's called Respect!

LOL at being salty about someone sucking and banning the dude that whooped said players ass.

Take the fucking L and don't be such a fucking baby about it.
