Dragon Age: Inquisition |OT| As the Blight fades, BioWare returns

It would be very difficult to play this game without knowing anything about the DAO and DA2 storylines (if you're interested in the story that is). The OP did a great job with a general summary of them. I mean, try to imagine trying to play Mass Effect 3 without playing or reading about 1 and 2.

How can you say this with any certainty when you haven't even played DAI yet?

I find that people overestimate how hard it is to get into a series' new game without playing any of the previous ones. It was the same thing with Witcher 2 versus The Witcher. Everyone was like, oh you won't understand anything without playing the first game. And that wasn't the case at all. In fact, I could easily imagine Witcher 2 being the first installment, only with a really rich backstory.

So anyway, I wish people would stop trying to dissuade others from playing DAI first unless they have actually played it and know what they're talking about. I played Origins, skipped Shit Mountain, and highly doubt that I'm missing anything by jumping into DA! without a refresher.

Is anyone intentionally not importing their choices over using the Dragon Age Keep app? I think I'm going to skip it and see the direction the game takes me.

this can be my first dragon age game... Do I need common knowledge from older games in the franchise? To understand it and enjoy it

The Varric narration looks like it has some new content!

Or at least new to me, keeps going after DA:2 now!

Edit: I think it now recaps the books leading up to right before inquisition

You'd enjoy it a lot more if you knew some of the lore and the characters

And go through dragon age keep. It goes through all the major events in both previous games while letting you make decisions. (Just hit play, you don't have to choose every little decision)

Fuck.

My friend in Korea was setting up their computer station for a livestream tomorrow and now their sound is not working! Everything is hooked up correctly! Nothing is missing! My friend in Korea is losing his or her mind! They can't figure out what it could possibly be!

Are there any archery focused skill trees besides the beginning one? Or do you have to abandon that weapon later down the line in favour of a melee weapon?

There are four base skill trees. One dedicated to archery, the other to dual daggers. The remaining two can be used by either. There are then three specializations which also can be used by either weapon style.

Each companion has one of those three specializations and 2 of your 3 rogues are technically archers, though you can spec them to be dual daggers no issue if you choose, so those two specializations should complement archery very well.

Just finished watching Dawn of the Seeker, not nearly as bad as I had feared. It's basically the origin story for Cassandra.

I'm not a huge anime fan so the fact that I didn't hate it must say something. Looking forward to having her as a companion in DA:I.

just 24 more hours from right now for people that aren't using VPN

hang in there

any reccomendations of a VPN to use? When is the first time zone it unlocks in? Never played a DA game, but this one looks good, and I don't really care about story in most games so I'm sure it'll be fine.

No sound working at all? Try to isolate by plugging in a USB headset and see if it shows up and works properly in sound devices.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hm.

So my mic picks up sound, it registers sound on my speakers in my Sound tab, but I don't hear it.

Headphones work only out of the built-in headphones slot.

Holy shit I need a SFX card.
