Funny enough, say what you will about Kuvira... I don't think any villain so far has sparked more discussion. This is a good season, I think.

And I'm late to this episode, but I know there was one scene that probably sent this thread and reddit aflame. *blushes*

That's not really true. Amon had plenty of discussion. So did Azula. Kuvira has sparked a lot of discussion of disappointment in the direction of her character

In fairness, we are beyond jaded at this point. Amon got the benefit of the doubt because we never saw the ending bullshit coming, even if the flaws of the season are more apparent in hindsight. With Kuvira, it's more like we were waiting for the penny to drop.

But the show will probably just go down the path of having Kuvira attack Republic City as the endgame for the series finale.

maybe she conquers republic city and korra will have to regroup with the fire lord and the rest of the krew in the final episode.

then everything changes when the fire nation attacks.

that's not going to happen though. Because it's halfway through the show and we're not about to have the main villain get beaten

That's where the remaining Red Lotus comes in to steal Kuvira's mega death weapon.

They'll declare war on all nation leaders but soon find themselves facing their greatest opponent yet, Prince Wu.

They really aren't delivering on their promise of Kuvira having Korra like qualities. Her being all stoic isn't exactly a positive for Kuvira. I liked it when they showed she had a personality during their fight, but then they made her stoic again.

She had like one scene after the fight. She's obviously stoic in most of her activities and her having a fight with Korra isn't going to change that.

Though don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Kuvira is living up to her full potential here. I'm just saying that at this point, it's par for course on LoK. With Amon, it was our first experience and we expected great things, so we ignored the early failings of the show until the ending, where we realized it was over and there was nothing good waiting for us.

She is going to become a raving lunatic at the final battle
I hope

You know what would be interesting direction would be if Republic City actually fell to Kuvira in the next two episodes or so and Korra and the Krew had to retreat back to the Fire Nation to find a way to stop Kuvira once and for all and gather up their forces again. I Don't care how now I just want to see a small glimpse of The Fire Nation.
This theory is only based on the fact that Mike said in a
Q&A that Zuko's daughter would be showing up again later.

But the show will probably just go down the path of having Kuvira attack Republic City as the endgame for the series finale.
Yeah,it would be nice, but, in a way that is not bad, the first show already showed and was centered on the Fire Nation.

What could they do? ignore the Earth Kingdom? have the Fire Nation ocuppy it again to make book 4 Fire Nation centric?

But they should show it a little, if only a brief glimpse.

I won't mind if she goes batshit. We felt sorry for Azula when she became mentally unhinged hopefully something makes us feel something for Kuvira. Though it would be interesting if she is pregnant and she's doing all this shit to make it so her kid grows up in a "better" world than what Kuvira grew up in. Though yes I know that won't happen.

But Kurira isn't about world domination she just wants the Earth Empire

I hope it comes down to Zuko explaining how empires suck.

Space benders bending meteors at each other.

I'm actually in the process of writing a Korra-fic where one of the battles with a villain takes place on Sozin's Comet. I mean literally ON the comet, as it is flying through space. The villain, who has control over the power of darkness, and creates darkness tentacles Dahaka-style to attack the Avatar, and the Avatar bending chunks of the comet to fight the villain.

I hope if they ever make another Avatar series, they go with a Cold-War style vibe, with the nations not fighting each other explicitly, but fighting proxy wars against each other. Plus, maybe we could get some bending IN SPACE!!!

I hope that there's a "Make a man out of you" training montage as somebody gets Korra back into shape.

"Korra I can't make an avatar out of youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"
Everyone keeps saying that Korra is "out of shape", but aside from the haircut & thinner boots, she physically looks the same from the previous season.

You can be just as fit and be "out of shape"

It's like a pro tennis player who doesn't play for 2 months. May be physically fit at the same level, but "out of shape" when they try to play tennis when they come back.

I'm sure once Republic City gets attacked the other nations will get involved in some form to try and stop it.
A small glimpse would be a nice little look. But then again they've only got 6 episodes left remaining. Pretty crazy how fast the season has gone even if the actual plot has been a bit slow

I wasn't taking about physically, but more in the sense of she needs to get better at fighting. She's really rusty. Who is this 'everybody'?
She should start practicing with Asami again heh. She always seems to fight well around her.

Legend of Korra S4 EP5
I love you Varrick, holy crap, before I temporarily put this show on hold I was reading the comments here before episode 5 aired and I remember the complaints being how asami basically became a BG character and had no screentime, but also that Kuvira was just going to be a standard villain, but the episode did so much lol

Korra is going through mental challenges that make her lose a fight.

"Lol such a weak ass Avatar, should kill herself so that a real Avatar takes her place, Lol"

Korra fights her way through an oponent and wins with some deus ex machina
"Where's the struggle? The development? These fights have no impact, shes learning nothing, worst Avatar ever"

Aang chooses personal feelings over becoming a fully realized Avatar and proceeds to get killed

"Best Avatar!"

Aang Beasts his way over Ozai by entering the Avatar states thanks to the perfectly placed rock

"BEST AVATAR"

Some fans...the way they want the Avatar to be reminds me of comics Roku, thinking the Avatar must be a god among men without a shred of humanity or compassion

Yeah, decided to read the impressions here of episode 6 and saw alot of really bad comments O.o, even the show stated right before they fought they korra was pretty rusty

It reminds me of that Gravity Falls gif except not with creepy prepubescent incest.

funny enough that gif had a whole story to it. Don't know if the author felt guilty or wanted to make a message about incest in anime, but it turned into this message about growing up and growing apart and all this sad shit.

Have some lion turtle facts from Bryan.
It was a statue in Seoul much like this one that provided Mike and I the initial inspiration for the lion-turtles back in the spring of 2003. In the pilot opening, you can see Aang whizzing around on an air scooter in front of a massive lion-turtle statue. I’m not sure why we didn’t make that the same statue in the ATLA series version of that opening shot.

I will say the series is not doing itself any favors by actually shipteasing the two. Zuko and Katara was just a crack pairing.

Trailers and advertising for the show definitely teased the fans with Zutara (S2 finale trailer). In this one they do it in the show itself. I really do hope that nobody thinks it will happen though. It's the creators having fun messing with shippers.

No, that's within normal pairing range. They had some interaction and the way they're narrative arcs were coming along, it would have made atleast some sense to get together.

Crack pairings are when people pair characters who have absolutely no reason to even be aware of one another. This would be, say, Katara and...that fire nation school bully. Just someone totally random.

I highly doubt that Kuvira would stop at only dominating the Earth empire. She is building a super weapon, while there´s an argument to be have for the weapon to be defensive, and just to scare anyone who would think about attacking, i really think that Kuvira will actually use the weapon to subjugate other nations.

See, here is the thing, I don't think the creators are just having fun at the expense at the shippers. I really do think they want to make Asami and Korra a couple, I don't think it will happen because we can't have a bi-sexual or lesbian relationship on the TV. I suppose that is another reason I find the idea of Mako and Korra getting back together vomit inducing.

They were having fun at the expense of Zutara fans, I don't see why they wouldn't do it again. If they really wanted Korrasami to happen, or a gay relationship for that matter, there are other methods. It's not like children cartoon/films can't have a gay side character. ParaNorman had a gay side character that wasn't a stereotype. Even a recent show in Cartoon Network had a gay couple in the background of a current tv show. CN didn't allow them to kiss in the mouth, but they pecked each other on the cheek and walked hand in hand.

The few scenes we've seen are things that can be read as multiple ways. The lines, like Asami's line to Korra in the S3 finale, seemed almost too much of a tease in a series about two girls who at one point fought over the same hunk of a man.
