that's great news! (that I can mix and match any combination of controllers)

anyone bought those Smash GC Controllers? - are they the same good old GC Controllers just rebranded?

thinking of getting an adapter + 4x GC Smash Controllers (should have never sold my Gamecube...)

already have 4x WiiU Pro Controllers! (can't imagine using the Wiimote for this...)

anyone found a deal on those GC stuff?
I bought the digital game on the WiiU eShop, didn't jump on the bundle.

One came with my Bundle. It's a good ol' GC controller with a Smash logo and a really fucking long cord. It's great.

That spreadsheet makes the 100 friends max limit cry x)
Sorry but I might have to delete people who haven't used their Wii U in a month.

EDIT : Sitting at 59/100 at the moment, phew.

Is it possible to do 4 player FFA online with a local partner or is it just limited to team battles?
We went straight for team battled then called it quits so I didn't get to check, I hope so though.

What is the consensus about playing smash with the Wii U controller pro? Is the GC controller preferred?
While I plan to play with the GC controller I only played with my Pro tonight and aside from having to switch the shield to L and R and grab to LZ/RZ I had no issues whatsoever.

Alright.

Yeah, I read something a couple of pages back which made it sound like you can only do team battles online with a local friend which is disappointing if true. I'll have to check myself when I get the game later.

I'm picking up my limited edition preorder after work today. How does this game look on tvs? IS this REALLY 1080p? I have a 50".

It looks grand. Textures and minute details won't blow your mind but the models are solid and the game is extremely fluid, which compliments its rich color palette very well.

Hmm, so online worked fine for some people? Most of the matches I tried last night were a stuttery mess, probably 10-15 fps. Even the ones that did work better still felt noticeably off compared to single player. I'm stuck on wireless, unless someone has a magical way of getting an ethernet cord through my ceiling without the wife finding out. I've never had any issue whatsoever playing MK8 online, that's always been smooth. I'm gonna be real disappointed if it continues to be like this.

Man the online is damn near as flawless as you could possibly hope! Played tons of 4 player and 1 vs 1 matches and it was very smooth maybe 1 or 2 matches out of 35 or so I noticed any lag,and even those 2 were way better than the bad matches on 3DS... and I'm on WiFi! Been playing almost 6 hrs straight, so much content in this game. Was not planning on staying up till 7am.

GameXplain has a video of an online match up.

yeah they put one up for 4-player For Fun too. Andre specifies in the comments that this was recorded live and not through the replay mode so any lag will show up in the video. looks buttery smooth to me.

and they posted on facebook about the online too

"So far, really happy with Smash Wii U's online! Several hours of mostly lag-free matches!"

Sounds pretty awesome!
Can't wait for next week.

I'm a newcomer, but I've tried both Wii's Classic controller and the Gamecube controller (I have a homebrew adapter a friend made). Both work pretty fine.

Seems like most serious Smash players prefer the GCN. I don't know if there's nostalgia involved, but since I quite like the GCN controller I'll be using it too. That said, Classic controller works pretty well, and the Wii U Controller Pro will certainly work even better.

Crossposting from the POTD thread:

Somebody in the review thread dropped info about the adapter only needing one USB port and the second is used for rumble. I can't find anything about that anywhere else though.

Anyone seen anything?

Has this been answered yet? Would really be important to me. I'd need to buy a USB-Hub if it wasn't true to have my HDD, Cube adapter and LAN-adapter connected simultaneousely to my Wii U.

Sorry for asking again on the next page, but it seems like I've been drowned out by the US release hype. Would be really important to know for me.

Are the musics uploaded somewhere ?

I'm listening to this playlist right now:

It's a bit weird because all tracks are 15 minutes long, so I just skip it when I'm satisfied.

Man, you've got Smash! You don't need a wife anymore!

I'm not really worried about the textures. Just the resolution. On my tv the difference between 720p and 1080p is extreme.

Get a powerline ethernet adapter.

Good. I bought a new modem, a new router, and a wired adapter just for smash. Hope it helps me out. Good to know that the potential for good online is there. ;_;

Blessed sakurai. He really went all out for this game. Gamecube controller support, good online, best 'gamefeel' for me ever (I ADORE the way the game plays, vs brawl/melee/64), best roster if we ignore some deep cuts, and some pretty fantastic stages.

I'm so happy with this smash. It's very unlikely i'll go back to the other ones for anything but nostalgia.

100 challenges to go....

Feh, waited for target to open up and they hadn't put up their display, amiibos or accessories. Gotta go back at lunch and hope they have GCN adapters...

You can just ask an employee to get it from the back....

I played a bit before I left for work this morning.

The Super Mario Galaxy stage is beautiful.

So damn beautiful.

Where Super Mario Galaxy 3 at tho?

Powerline adapter if your electrical wiring is good.
