Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT| True Potential of Smash Bros.

I was hoping the online netcode would be better for me compared to the 3DS version but the 4-5 games I've played have all been pretty bad.

Welp, guess I'll just stick to other online titles and leave this one for local play whenever I head home for the holidays.

- Wii U Pro controller is sex for the hands. I really like the analogues, buttons, shape, everything. SO happy I got this instead of a gamecube controller.

I didn't buy a Gamecube Adapter for Smash, and I absolutely don't regret it so far. The Pro Controller feels so good for Smash, and I think I might be faster with it than I was with a GC. I'll probably buy the adapter at some point just to have extra options for guests, but I am very happy with the Pro.

I hope I can bypass using the gamepad for the most part. I should be able to play Mario and Kong with just the Pro controller right?

Mario has a few levels that require the Gamepad, but it will tell you when that is the case. The majority of the game can be played with just the pro controller. I don't know about Kong.

If there were a way to charge the Wii U Pro Controller without batteries, I think I would use that instead of the Gamecube Controller. I just know I am going to play this game so much, and I HATE CHANGING BATTERIES. >:-O

If it helps, the Pro Controller charges with a mini-USB cable instead of requiring a battery change. Also, the batteries on the pro controller last next to forever. It's a stark difference coming off of, say, a PS4 controller. (EDIT: Or the WiiU Gamepad)

Am I misunderstanding? The WiiU Pro Controller comes with a USB charging cable, and the battery lasts for eons.

How does the game play with the gamepad?

I don't really feel like spending money on the adapter even though it'd be nice to play this with my wavebird.

Just get a long microUSB cord.

edit - you know the pro controller has a single rechargeable battery built in, right? It lasts 80 hours and charges via the cord.

Holy crap, I did not know this. I may just pick one up, then.

Edit: Nevermind, the button placing is not to my liking.

Picked up my copy from Best Buy and took a look at the amiibos. I couldn't pull the trigger on any of then. I really wish they had Captain Falcon and Luma but I'll just wait for now.

I can't over how much I like the Pro controller. The shape is perfect, even better than the 360 pad (thinner handles), weight is just right, all the buttons and triggers feel perfect, same with the analogue sticks, it supposedly lasts 80 hours(!). What a homerun of a controller. I wish the DS4 was as comfortable as this.

I'm experiencing the huge input delay too, seeing as apparently it's only happening to a handful of people, this might explain my For Glory experiences...

Hoping there's some easy way to fix it on my end, because it really is fun, but man is that input delay a massive mood killer.

pro charge takes 4.5 hours to 100%, lasts 80+ hours

it's a beast.

I just can't bring myself to buy the Wii U version at full price when I already have the 3DS copy. If they somehow gave a discount for 3DS owners then I would consider it, but it's the exact same game (at least as far as multiplayer goes), but with better graphics. Not worth $60 for me sadly.

Just snuck in an hour in between classes with a few friends. Game is orgasmically good. So much to explore and try out, definitely going to be playing it the rest of the school year at least.

Question for 8-player smash? Does it require 3DSes or can you use Wii remotes/nunchucks to fill out remaining controllers?

Also, for a music question:

Is Go KK Rider in this game?

Manually set up your Wii U internet connection. Set a static IP, use Google DNS or OpenDNS, and make sure the MTU matches your router setting. You can also enable DMZ for that IP address you set.

Also make sure nothing else is using up your bandwidth. If someone is streaming video or playing an intensive online game or whatever that can interfere with your connection.

I'm kind of curious about this myself. I'd rather not spend extra money right now if I don't have to.

I played off-tv for a few hours last night. Not bad. Make sure you switch shield to the BACK L/R instead of the front ones, it's the opposite from gamecube. Hate it. It's no gamecube controller, but it'd totally doable.

plays flawlessly, I've only played with the gamepad and I don't regret it at all, might have to swap the controls a bit to put the shield button on ZL and ZR if you're like me though

I haven't played it yet, but I imagine the answer to this question is going to vary a lot between people. If you like the Gamepad and think the 3DS control scheme isn't a disaster, you'll probably be fine with the Gamepad.

I know I've heard you can use 8 GCN controllers (two adapters). Not sure if there's a limit on Wii remotes (and thus Classic controllers) or Pro controllers. I'd imagine you can use any 8 valid controllers.

Can I just switch to the gamepad for those parts?

The game will tell you when a stage requires the gamepad. Usually you can detour around a stage that does if you don't feel like using it. All of the Captain Toad stages require it. I don't quite remember why... I think because it uses the gyroscope.

Still hasn't shipped, according to Best Buy's site. Wonder if that means I am waiting until at least Monday, or if they just didn't update saying it shipped.

any Mega Man mains here??...

I feel him "weird" compared to the 3DS version... I just can't connect any aerial and he seems a little more "slippery"... it's just me or there's something wrong?

I'm a Mega main. I'll post my thoughts on him when I get my hands on the game later tonight!

For wireless controllers is 7 of any combination of wii, wii u pro controllers and 3DS plus the Gamepad
